Your premise is an accusation that it's going to be a plane for Trump and not the country.  If it's not, then you should have no issue because it's not a gift for Trump.  If it's going to the library, who cares and why would you?  He would be doing it to be political and taking a gift that "an ally" gave us.  It's something that Leftists say is a problem with Trump.  They complain he's not political and always petty.  Here he's being political, and now it's an issue.

Take off the wings, the landing gear, the cickpit and the tail section to house the living and working quarters only.

 

The above is not a defense of accepting the gift.  If the gift is reported and given to the Ameerican people it is not necessarily improper or a violation of the emolients clause.  that it seems to ahve a reverter to trump's library, a private foundation when Trump is out of office that is the problem, that is the violation of the emolients clause.

Second, Trump's personal plane is old, it regularly crapped out on the campaign trail, Trump being Trump will use the newer one with all the technology further gifted by the US government. Third, Trump has zero distinction in his mind about private vs public, the plane is his.

Private donations from supporters.  Some documents on loan from the national archives and some nick nacks from the smithsonian on temporary loan so the costs to taxpayers is very low, though not non-existant as loan items have to be accounted for.

IIRC the president’s son, a private citizen, was accused of putting a painting up for bid at 50K. I don’t know if that’s what he got. The actual President here has NFTs for sale so that’s probably a better comp. IIRC one sold for ~25K & another sold for 50K pre-election. The Doha Qatar Trump Org golf & hotel deal is part of a $5.5 billion complex.
