It's the source of this country and it's been correctly and incorrectly interpreted over the years to make laws.

I like the way you out that. I agree. IMO the Emoluments clauses (there are two) were the original anti-corruption legislation, it’s baked in. About the Constitution generally, it’s like an old building. The foundation cracks, the roof comes in at one corner, eventually the plumbing in one room goes out, etc. it’s gradual. One day it collapses but it takes a long time.
