Round Eleven-Sixteen Commentary - July Mock 2025

Recommended Posts

Dak is one of the guys I’m looking to pair with Fields in a lot of drafts. I felt I could get a number of other players I’m interested in in round 12 so I wanted to secure Dak now as a high end QB2

Homerism aside, I think that's a really good pick.  I think Dak will look a lot more like 2023 Dak than 2024 Dak this year and will finish as a QB1.  I'd have taken him with my pick, but the RB's I like were thinning and I didn't think there would be anything left for me if I waited.

Good pick!

I had QB typed out for my pick right before and was going to take him, but went with D/ST at the last second

Damn you, ICEMAN!  I was going to pick Stevenson before you but thought he might slip to the next round for me.

Stevenson was also on my list, I'll take a risk on Sampson. Cleveland's another RB situation that's very much up in the air. Especially in PPR, I think he's a nice gamble.

It has been since the 3rd round.  I did not expect them to go so quickly.

Agreed.  It’s a situation to be watched over the next month leading up to the drafts that matter.  So is the Browns QB situation.  My gut keeps telling me Sanders wins the job outright by mid season, with a crazy carousel to start the year.  Not that I would want any of them on my roster.

I likely would've taken Ray Davis in Round 12, but since nobody (picking right after me) had him atop his list, so I went ahead and grabbed McCarthy as my QB2.

You should have taken Davis, as McCarthy was at the top of my list.  😡

I almost pulled the trigger on Dak in the 11th, but after seeing the Mixon news I said "what the hell" and took Chubb.  I'm OK with Stroud as my #2, he's pretty steady and they added Kirk and Higgins at WR which will hopefully increase his ceiling.

I was very tempted to grab McCarthy, but after overdrafting him in the June Mock, I thought I'd gamble and see if he would fall. Looks like the 11th is where I have to pull the trigger if I want him.

i came very close to taking a stab on Pitts in round 12. Im not totally sure why I didn't since I can probably find a WR5 if Tillman went... and Tillman could also be a huge bust but I think he has some upside as the WR2 (and possibly can surpass Jeudy). A lot will depend on the QB play.

At the beginning of the 11th, I knew I had to go RB or there would be a wasteland when it got back to me.  I debated White and Ekeler (although if I would have had the news about Mixon I would have definitely gone with Chubb...nice grab worm).  White had a fantastic rookie season which shows, given the chance, he can do the job if something were to happen to Bucky.  Even though he lost the job to Irving last year, he still posted 51 catches and had over 1,000 yards which is serviceable as my fourth RB.

I, clearly, miscalculated the back up QB drafting this year (although I swear to you that three - six back up QB's generally come off the board in the tenth round).  To do it again, I would have passed on Purdy and taken Dak in the 11th or 12th.  In any case, I'm happy with Herbert as my #2.  His numbers have come down since his first few years in the league, but he's been hovering around a low end QB1/high end QB2 the last few years.  Investing in Tre Harris with their first pick should give Herbert more options and, hopefully, improve his numbers a bit.

Speaking of Tre Harris, with the retirement of Mike Williams he'll start in three WR sets.  He won't overtake McConkey, but he has a real shot at stepping into the WR2 role.  At this stage in the draft, I'm looking for upside and I think Harris has it.

I should've gave you a other name!
