My Draft Analysis

I had the 11th selection, thru forfeits I had 8,9,11,12 as options. Went with 9th. Once I was in the later half, I wanted 1 of the top 7 wrs. I assumed Bijan, Jahmyr, and Saquon for rbs, and Jamaar, CD, and Jefferson for wrs would likely go in the top 6. And then 3 picks later I would get Nabers, Amon-Ra or Nico. In rd. 2, I figured I would get a quality rb.

Rd 1 - Nico Collins - I was surprised that CMC was available and thought about that for a minute, but stuck with the plan. I like Nico due to consistency with his QB and the wk 6 bye.

Rd 2 - Derrick Henry - Very surprised he made it back to me. I expected to get Jacobs here. I do like him a lot this year. Did already, and then I think Micah adds to that even more. So, debated between those two, and went with Henry.

Rd 3 - Mike Evans - He is awesome. Saw him as the last great wr on the board. XWorthy, Mclaurin, MHjr, Davante, GWilson wrs taken after.

Rd 4 - Mahomes - It was him or a rb, maybe KW III, JConner, or Chuba, likely him. I waited on QB last year, it could have worked out, however I took Caleb and TLaw, so it didn't work out for me. A lot of possibilities to wait on QB this year, there is a gem in there, but its like blind shooting. Which of the QBs after Baker will pop? Mahomes could be QB 1.

Rd 5 - Pacheco - Liked my chances of getting my 3rd wr in the next rd, so looking at rbs. Pollard, Montgomery available.

Rd 6 - Jameson Williams - Love this pick. Top 20 wr at year end. Devonta Smith was debated. Jaylen Waddle was on the board.

Rd 7 - Jakobi Myers - As his player page says, going for his 5th top 30 fantasy campaign. Pickens went right after, I see him as boom or bust per game. Olave, avoided Saints.

Rd 8 - Mark Andrews - Just a solid top 10 TE. Njoku, Engram, Loveland went soon after. Njoku certainly was debated.

Rd 9 - Jauan Jennings - This dipstick is gonna play. Thought about Charbonnet.

Rd 10 - Rhamondre - He is still good. I think he will have a solid year. I don't think Treveyon will hurt his numbers too much. I think he will get more goal line chances. Anyway, that's my homer optimism.

Rd 11 - Jerome Ford - Starting back at this point in the draft is a win. Projection has him at 610 yds and 3 TDs. I think he beats that.

Rd 12 - CJ Stroud - Backup QB. TLaw and Stafford went soon after. TLaw might stink. Stafford's back might go. Stroud has no red flags, and the bye wk works.

Rd 13 - Demario Douglas - Pats fan, why not. Aiyuk was available, went soon after.

Rd 14 - Joe Mixon - We will see if he comes back strong.

Rd 15 - Butker

Rd 16 - KC D

I like my team quite a bit, but we will see, a lot of mystery in who will deliver across the league. Didn't expect to end up with 4 KC starters. Out of the others I like ADs team the most. Jerrys team the least.

Nuts nobody near the turn didn't take RB-RB.  Could have had CMC-Henry-Acahine-Taylor-Brown combo instead of 2nd teir WR.

It still amazes me how FF veterans don’t understand that 1RB, multi flex leagues are WR heavy leagues. But I’m not complaining

I'm honestly not unhappy with my mostly autopick team in a draft I was able to jump into toward the end.

You have a better chance with auto draft 😂

Some people don’t understand that this is more about adaptability to the current ff climate which includes more rbbc, byes, and injuries.

2 rb has a higher reliance on luck of remaining healthy, not a matter of drafting depth across a roster.

but I’m not complaining

I don’t disagree with anything you said…

Also my tone in that post was mostly just for horseman and just in jest since he was always "mr FF 101" when he was in the league .  I enjoy the discussion and game theory. There are many ways to skin a cat. You went RB heavy for example and I happen to like your team a lot, we still have to draft the correct players, but as one of the people who didn't vote for the additional flex change back in 2023 my mindset is usually that if I have a choice between a RB and WR that I like similarly, i'm taking the WR for all the same reasons cited in eliminating one of the static RB slots (rbbc, injury, etc).   WR adp also rises in these formats so technically the drafts are more WR heavy.

👍

didn't see the second paragraph before.

back in the day, when bell cow was the norm, having 2b rb was a reasonable requirement. the way the nfl is now, it over-elevates the rb value (and again relies on luck of having them stay healthy).

as for my team: i mostly like it, but because we have a low buy it, i take more risks than other leagues (ie: my wrs.... solid unit 4-5 years ago  )

I added the 2nd paragraph for explanation so you didn’t think I was being (more of) a turd 😂. I happen to like 2RB requirement because it adds to some strategy for when to attack the position, imho… like hero or zero RB strats.. and less easy to ignore the position that’s seen as tougher to navigate. If you have to deal with an injury, you’re less reliant on being a WWire hawk or negotiating a trade as you can simply pop a receiver into flex. To me it makes things less interesting, but I understand it.

as for low stakes, I’m generally okay with lower stakes in a league where the owners all “know” each other because half the fun in the bragging rights. I’m always for upping entry but even in one of my real life leagues we’ve only been able to increase a certain amount without losing a few guys and we’d rather keep the same camaraderie

I don't love my team.  I was really shocked that no RBs made it to the 2-3 turn, but Bowers was still there.  So I grabbed Bowers, giving me the #1 TE and WR (Chase), but then reached to grab Hampton, who I really like to become the bellcow earlier than later, but it's a risk and it was not great value.

I don't love Conner this year as I think Benson may overtake him, but I did get Benson as a handcuff, so that's good.  The Cards plan to run a lot this year, so hopefully either one is viable, and if there is an injury, the healthy one should be RB1 possible.

I took some risks with young WRs McMillan and Hunter.  One of my achilles heels is that I cut my teeth in a deep keeper league, so I have a soft spot for high upside rookies and young guys (see also Hampton).

QBs... jeebus, you guys were drafting backups in the 8th round?!  I grabbed Caleb and McCarthy (two more upside guys) at the 10-11 turn.  Obviously not a strong point of my roster.

Interestingly, ESPN thinks I have the 2nd best team, yet I never even looked at their rankings during the draft.  Probably the kiss of death for me.

But, if some of these upside guys live up to their potential, I should be OK.

I like this league the best out of the 3 I’m in total. For the most part we all know what we are doing, where as my other 2 home leagues all have a dumbass or two. $50 is perfect and for those that want more action do a side bet like AD and I do each year.

i get it. my preference is for a larger roster to reward a good draft (and for depth). reduces ww hawking imo. last year was a horrid year for injuries in general, but my team here was beyond repair. one of the worst i've experienced since 91.

i have no issue with our current fees. wouldn't mind upping them for weekly and end of season high score payouts.
