Fetterman defends Trump's 'tasteful' $200M White House ballroom makeover

Recommended Posts

This thread was created in Aug.  There is a foxnews article in the first post.

From the article...

This will be just the latest step in a radical architectural overhaul intent on making the 225-year-old executive mansion less redolent of stuffy Washington and more evocative of Mar-a-Lago, his gaudy palace in Palm Beach, Florida.

“But starting now with the paving of the Rose Garden, and coming soon with the construction of a garish ballroom, they will see a physical representation of a low and shameful time. The once graceful executive mansion will be transformed into something tasteless and embarrassing. It will be both awful and fitting.”

Enjoy your L

I don't see those "quotes" in that article.  :dunno:

Oh, you know what, I'm an idiot.  I'll take my own L.  That's what I get for posting during a call.

This was the article I took the quotes from, https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/07/trump-white-house-ballroom

From August as well

THIS is from the FoxNews article...

"The project at the White House is a gigantic boondoggle," Blumenthal said. "The important question is not only the damage that it could do to the architecture of the White House, but also what contributors would have over Trump if they are giving to this project."

So the size was raised previously.

Sorry man.  You had an opportunity.  I don't do wild goose chases.

It is symbolic watching him literally destroy the white house.

Also no surprise the trump cucks are here defending everything he does.

He did lie, but he always lies.  This didn't go for any kind of architectural or historical review.

He doesn't respect the country or it's history.  First the rose garden paving over, then the car lot flags, now the destruction of the east wing and the construction of a football field sized ballroom fitting for a man with small d problems.

You're obsessed with his d1ck size now?  I think your crush on him has gotten a little too weird

From the Dems and the media.  All the outrage has been about him touching the WH.  Only in the past day or two has the messaging shifted to the scale and/or the "historical" aspects of the project.  Apparently the original reasoning for outrage didn't resonate so your side pivoted.  Which is just more proof of how fake your outrage is.

This argument doesn’t even make sense, because we didn’t know him saying the WH wouldn’t be touched was a lie until a couple days ago.  In fact I’d argue there wasn’t much outrage at all until the past few days when the pictures started coming out, showing that 1) it was being touched contrary to his claim, and 2) seeing how massive the addition actually is.

Timhack is really hurting here.

Excellent. This is progress in the right direction.

Liberal politicians will whine about this forever but soon will find plenty of ways to use the space and the whole freak out about it will disappear.

Leavitt said yesterday that the ballroom is Trump's number one priority.

Let that sink in to everyone struggling to afford groceries and healthcare.

Remember when a reporter asked Trump about Charlie Kirk and he started talking about the ballroom?  Lol

I remember when you weren't posting on this site ad nauseum.

You should get your TDS looked at. There's no cure, but like an alcoholic, maybe you can get some mental guidance.

I think you’re getting at that it was mostly just grass?

No she didn't and I suspect you know this but you have your talking points down regardless of how disingenuous they are.  You really need to get that TDS looked at.

ROFLMAO.  Did you listen to the question?  She was specifically asked about projects at the WH.  So it's not his biggest priority.  It's his biggest priority at the WH.  As I said, you know this but are pushing a talking point.  I get it.

Guaranteed Ron had no idea that no rose bushes were harmed during the making of this movie. He thinks trump destroyed the actual rose garden not just placing stone tiles over grass and where some concrete used to be.

I bet he also doesn't even know that there are more roses than ever thanks to the work done on the rose garden during trumps last term.

Ok you’ve already said you treasure the WH, right? So do I, and I think almost all Americans do. Obviously the 9/11/01 hijackers wanted to destroy it, some people feel that way about it I guess. You & I feel the same way about it, you just think we have no choice on the matter & that all this is perfectly legal. Personally even if it were legal I find it disgusting defacement of a great American symbol. I don’t know, again I just see it as sad. I’m not sure if anyone will ever do anything about it.

Truman built the first bowling alley in the white house and Nixon built a second, there's 2 bowling alleys in the white house and you're complaining about a ballroom.

It's just a ballroom. Obama named the White House basketball court that he built after himself

$300 million is WAY more than it would actually cost to build the ballroom.

$300 million for 90,000 square feet is over $3330/square foot in construction cost. The highest-end commercial construction in the US is under $1000/square foot.

We all know 45 is going to pocket the rest.

All the Republicans whined about government spending… until 45 started spending like a drunken sailor on 💩 nobody needs.

Now I get comments like this, or the other one “I can’t speak to the cost” defending the orange clown. None of you whining about him adding $1 trillion to the debt in 2 months either. 🐑

And isn’t it most of it just one big room?  Doesn’t seem like a very complicated build

The best part about this joke is that people really arent sure if you know Trump cant run in 2028. People are reading it thinking to themselves...well he probably knows, but its Ron.
