475 people taken into ICE custody at Hyundai plant in Georgia

Recommended Posts

United States immigration authorities have arrested 475 people in a raid on a Hyundai manufacturing site in Georgia, Steve Schrank, a special agent in charge of Homeland Securities Investigations Atlanta, said at a press conference on Friday.

The Hyundai facility, located in Ellabell, Georgia -- approximately 30 miles west of Savannah -- was raided “as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into allegations of unlawful employment practices and other serious federal crimes,” according to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security

The raid was authorized by a judge-issued search warrant following a monthslong investigation of the facility, Schrank said. The investigation of the worksite remains active, he added, but no charges of wrongdoing have been filed.

The arrested individuals worked for several contractors as well as the parent company, Hyundai, Schrank said.

"This in fact was the largest single-site enforcement operation in the history of Homeland Security Investigations," Schrank added.

Hyundai released a statement regarding the raid, saying it was aware of the incident and “closely monitoring the situation and working to understand the specific circumstances.”

You serious, Clark? If this is the crime of the century and such an important issue these business 100% should get reamed for hiring illegals.

This is focking Hyundai…not some dude hiring a short order cook at a greasy spoon.

Democrat Mayor 😂

A historic day in Garden City. For the first time, a Black mayor is in charge of city government.

Bruce Campbell took the oath of office before family, friends and supporters Thursday.

This county is RED. Why can’t you people follow the laws. Hiring illegals over hard working Americans. Shameful behavior. Despicable really!

I don't like driving a Hyundai.  Every one I've been in was clearly designed for Asian people and it was weird.

Lol. That is why the illegals are even more at fault. Larger corporations almost always use e-verify.

These illegals usually have fake docs.

Let me get this straight. Being here illegally, is a crime? Hiring illegals to work for you, not a crime? even though both are official crimes

You want a business that used e-verify to dig further into people to verify that they are here legally? You idiots dont even want people to present ID to vote.

If you are wanting employers to do a deep dive into the minorities applying for jobs, I can be convinced.

So you want them to investigate people they suspect of being illegal or not?

I can be convinced.

I don’t overly care if you are asking me.

If people take this as an important issue, I don’t understand how they would think employers should have no consequences if they have hundreds of illegals working for them. That would be a deterrent to stop people coming here.

What began this was you acting as if it would be some lib thinking for employers like the one here in GA to not have some responsibility,

Currently the accountability for owners of a company ends once an employee has presented documentation.

I think it should stay as is because we generally dont want employers doing the work of ICE and doing deep investigating into whether or not the employees are presenting false documents.

I can be convinced though that the laws should be changed where we require this because that basically puts more unofficial ICE agents out there and that possibly could be a net positive.

These are good points. Not sure the best way to handle this TBH. Have never worked in HR and generally avoid taking to them as much as possible 😂

I would think a way to have accountability in hiring if you are a large company could be made more thorough and require more than producing some documents that aren’t vetted if that is the case. I don’t know what really goes into this or what if any documents these people are asked to produce. without some consequence it is far too easy for a company to say oopsie my bad.

Odds are, the illegal immigrants are from South Korea... not South America.  Foreign owned companies get federal allowances to hire people from their home countries.  My guess is that in large part, the people detained overstayed their allotment.

E.t.a.... LOL, look at that, the Dope in Chief posted something to this affect, just 2 posts after you.
