Have any of the patriots on the board volunteered for the front lines? The great battle of Portland needs fresh troops for the fight. A country needs you!

Liberals plan in advance a couple days in some city, avoiding the shlt, and think  they are tough guys for doing so.

I lived and worked in the cities of Hartford CT, Albuquerque NM,  Kansas City MO, Chicago IL, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Boston MA and spent a hell of a lot of time in NYC and DC when I lived close to those cities in the past.

But TheGenital thinks he's mister city guy for spending a planned out day in Portland. Probably took UBER everywhere and had his boyfriend watch over him.

This is classic liberal.

Even though I didn't answer your BS question I still made my point.

It wasn't too long ago that conservatives opposed the govt deploying the military against its own citizens.

If the local authorities will not protect federal facilities from Antifa terrorists, what should the Feds do?

Most suburbanites have figured out that the best way to not get mugged, raped, or robbed is to avoid the places full of muggers, rapists, and robbers.

One ray of hope, even during the darkest days of Coleman Young's regime in Detroit, security around sports venues or museums or universities or the like was always acceptable. The Lord of the Flies environment was limited to the neighborhoods, while the recreational attractions concentrated in that patch of downtown were still maintained with what was left of the shell/husk of the police force he didn't fire. Presumably urban sh*tholes in 2025 would at least have that going for them as well, but who knows if Coleman Young proteges in New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, etcetra will fail worse than he did.

It's focking true. I've lived in crappy cities before when I was looking to get ahead in life. Then when I got ahead, I preferred peace over aggressive drunk/high angry people who are looking to get something for nothing.

If the local authorities request the military, then and only then should the military use the smallest amount of force possible to restore order.

This is not a leftist viewpoint, stop pretending it is to protect dear leader.

So your answer is, the local authorities should be allowed to decide that the lives of Federal workers are not important, and the Feds should acquiesce and allow their people and facilities to be attacked by Antifa terrorists.  Makes sense.

It's not my answer, it's the law.

I'm sorry the laws of the land get in the way of rooting for your dictator to do whatever he wants.

Quote
AI Overview

Yes, the federal government can legally defend federal properties on American soil, drawing authority from the Constitution and various laws that grant specific federal agencies and, in limited circumstances, the military the power to protect government assets
.
Key legal and organizational underpinnings include:
  • Constitutional "Property Clause": Article IV, Section 3, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution empowers Congress to "make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States". This gives the federal government supreme authority to regulate and protect its property.
  • Federal law enforcement: Congress has created several federal law enforcement agencies dedicated to protecting federal properties and personnel.
    • Federal Protective Service (FPS): As the primary agency within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the FPS is responsible for protecting federal buildings, grounds, and the people on those properties. It operates across the nation in facilities owned or leased by the federal government.
    • Department of Defense (DoD): The Secretary of Defense is authorized to protect DoD buildings, grounds, property, and personnel. The DoD can also use the facilities of state, tribal, and local law enforcement agencies and enter into agreements with them to enforce federal and local laws on or near federal property.
    • National Park Service Rangers: The Department of the Interior authorizes officers to "maintain law and order and protect persons and property" within areas of the National Park System.
  • Federal criminal law: Federal criminal statutes, such as 18 U.S.C. § 1361, specifically prohibit the destruction of government property and other related offenses. These laws are enforceable by federal agencies.
  • Military forces (limited circumstances): The use of federal troops on U.S. soil is severely limited by the Posse Comitatus Act. However, exceptions exist under laws like the Insurrection Act, which can be invoked by the president to suppress a rebellion against federal authority or enforce federal law when state governments are unwilling or unable to act. The specific use of the National Guard to protect federal property is a highly debated area of law.
  • Executive authority: Presidents have historically asserted a "protective power" to defend federal property and functions during civil unrest. This power has also been used to deploy National Guard personnel for temporary assignments to protect federal assets.

I tried. They wouldn’t let me join in the war against Antifa. I guess they were afraid I would commit too many atrocities.

Only Starbucks? With all the talk I've heard about Portland here over the years, I'd expect 75% of the city to be on lock down in anticipation of going to war with federal agents. Isn't everyone in Portland antifa? I mean it basically looks like Gaza City now, right? With the constant rioting and burning, you really can't tell them apart.

I've even heard estimates that everyone in the western third of Oregon is antifa. What is Trump thinking sending those poor troops into such a meatgrinder? It'll be a slaughter!

Starbucks is closing stores everywhere nationwide.

From my friend Grok:

Starbucks Closes 400 Stores and Lays Off 900 Employees in $1 Billion Restructuring
Last updated 54 minutes ago

Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol announced on September 25, 2025, the closure of approximately 400 underperforming company-operated stores in North America and the layoff of 900 corporate employees as part of a $1 billion cost-cutting plan amid six consecutive quarters of declining sales. The company attributes the moves to financial pressures including inflation, competition from rivals like Dunkin', and overexpansion, with U.S. comparable store sales dropping 6% in the latest quarter. Starbucks Workers United alleges the closures disproportionately affect unionized locations, leading to protests in cities such as Seattle and Dallas demanding fair contracts and accusing the company of retaliation.

Antifa in Portland wouldn’t be caught dead in Starbucks. They’d be working at an artisanal roasting company perhaps.

For me easy access to good food, culture, sports, people, good jobs come to mind. Not all cities are built the same, some have more appeal than others.

Nope, neither situation was wrong.  POTUS is only allowed to federalize the national guard under specific circumstances, like invoking the insurrection act of 1907.

For JFK, the insurrection act states "When the state is unable or unwilling to protect constitutional rights" which gave him the ability to protect the constitutional rights of the black children.

Bush, the Gov of CA requested, and also the act states "make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States" and the riots did just that.

Jerry AI'ed some BS that talked about acts of Congress and other BS around federal buildings.  He needs to learn about the Insurrection Act, and so do you.  Until then your ignorance prohibits any rational debate.
