Just watched the video.  Sad.

What's even more sad is in the beginning when they lady is talking to the cops about when she saw the car hit the dumpster.  Something about uneducated people trying to class it up around cops always gets me.

I couldnt imagine a parent nonchalantly knowing their 12 year old is out running around with loaded guns.  Not in my community anyway.  

But I will respect their culture.

Hmmmm.....I took her words throughout that video differently than you.  She goes off on him early for leaving the house when she specifically told him not to.  She tells him he's going to have to take responsibility for his actions.  She doesn't dismiss the crime and say "he's a good boy" like we hear so many AA parents do.  To me, she sounds like one of the few from that culture trying to do the right thing.   And I heard nothing nonchalant from her.  Hell, she's wearing a U.S. flag as her shorts.
