Looks like it’s a bad time for the gays and trannies to be living in NYC. I wish them luck

Stop with your anti-Muslim fear mongering. LGBTQ folks have nothing to worry about under Mamdani.

AI Overview
Zohran Mamdani, the Mayor-elect of New York City, has a documented history of strong, proactive support for the LGBTQ+ community, centering his platform on safety, inclusion, and the protection of transgender rights.

He has positioned himself as an ally to the community, winning 81% of the LGBTQ+ vote in the 2025 general election.
Key aspects of his attitude and policy platform include:
  • Sanctuary City Status: Mamdani has pledged to make New York City a "sanctuary city" for LGBTQ+ people, particularly protecting them and those seeking gender-affirming care from persecution by other states.
  •
  • Transgender Rights Focus: He has championed trans rights as a response to what he calls a "hostile political environment". As a state assemblymember, he co-sponsored the Gender Recognition Act (allowing for "X" gender markers) and supported the repeal of the "Walking While Trans" law.
  •
  • Healthcare and Funding: He has pledged to invest $65 million in healthcare facilities providing gender-affirming care and has proposed an additional $87 million for an Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs to fund housing, mental health services, and workforce investments.
  •
  • Active Advocacy: During his campaign, Mamdani attended the NYC Pride March, participated in Trans Day of Visibility rallies, and made a surprise visit to a queer nightclub (Papi Juice).

New York is no longer Hymie Town I guess. Anyone in that stupid death pool will want to put the Reverend Jesse Jackson in your picks

The road ahead for transit in New York City in 2026 includes fare hikes

New Yorkers are about to see a fare hike

Give him a break, he was just inaugurated this morning.  I'm sure the MTA will change from "fair hike" to "free$#@!" once they see the brilliance of socialism.

Lots of veterans in the UK have been saying that their service wasn’t worth it. I know how they feel.

Right wingers melting down over 10 cents is a great sign for 2026.

Oumy and Amaduo Niang were the parents of the first child born in NYC this year.   It’s their fifth child.

He has nothing to do with bus fares, but ran on a platform of free buses.  🤡

Jerry, that decision was made by the MTA prior to Mamdani being sworn in.  Come on man.

Was it made after he was elected?  Or was there a doubt that he would be sworn in?

Didn't Mamdani raise funds to hit the ground running?  Did he not talk to the MTA about raising fares?

Regardless, my main point is that he ran on a bunch of stuff he can't accomplish, which I'm on record of saying here.  I think (hope, as the father of a daughter who lives in NYC) that at the end of his term he will have accomplished virtually none of his socialist utopian plans that suckers voted for, and instead will complain about how the capitalist system kept him from implementing the "warmth of collectivism."

"We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism."

Full quote, in context:

And if for too long these communities have existed as distinct from one another, we will draw this city closer together. We will replace the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism. If our campaign demonstrated that the people of New York yearn for solidarity, then let this government foster it. Because no matter what you eat, what language you speak, how you pray, or where you come from—the words that most define us are the two we all share: New Yorkers.

No difference, at least to me.  There is no warmth with collectivism, unless it's blood.  There is no context where that is excusable for me.

Sworn in on the Koran. The Koran, what inspired the  attacks on NYC on Sept 11, 2001. Man if I had to do it all over again.

Probably cost a lot less than all the fresh, young socks you've bought recently to fuel your weird fettish.

Pretending not to understand government and believing that a mayor can magically change a bunch of policies “‘day one” is some really weak sauce.

Since we all know you’re smarter than that, let’s just call this some good-natured trolling. Like you said, let’s see what this guy accomplishes during his term.

So because he is a Democratic Socialist, his wife is to wear foot apparel at his inauguration that she bought from a thrift store? 😂

Weird, see I would think you would want him to accomplish things that benefit your daughter, not your personal politics.
