The Golden Age Of Gaming In The Eighties-14 Minutes

Recommended Posts

 My top five worst

Dig Dug

 Centipede

Defender

 Joust

Frogger

 Why…because I sucked at them

 Top five best

Galaga

 Track and Field

Tempest

 Ms Pac-Man

Zevious

Why? Because I dropped more quarters in them than having the shakes at 7/11

Good memories

If I remember correctly Kaboom was an Activision game played on the Atari 2600. I don’t know what it was but I was unstoppable at that game. Some reason I saw bombs before they were dropped - I was back and forth on that paddle - wait I  just jizzed in my pants - ok I’m back. Yeah I was good at that game.

Activision made some great games co that console. River Raid, Stampede to name a couple more.

All of these are actual arcade games,  not home ones.

My kid went to Brooklyn for a Street Fighter tournament- let’s just say it didn’t go so well. These people are hardcore gamers.

I’d get to the last one but never beat him. Loved that game.

I had an older friend that worked as a game tech and that game was on a golden disk not the traditional video game board at the time. He ended up building his own case for his house and we played it for hours for free. There were other games with the  same technology at the time and it was as easy as changing a record (the disk was same size as a 33 1/3 album). Lots of drugs and good times.

Great list.  I played most of them.  Pole Position, Centipede, Tempest and Dig Dug were my best.  Berserk rarely makes these lists but I spent a lot of coins on that one as well.

I had to check. Space Invaders was 1979, so did not qualify.
