I dropped my membership a couple years ago. I spend the same and get to play many different courses for the same or less money.

I think it would be great, to see golf courses turned into parks.  And the parks can still employ all those illegals to keep,it up, like golf courses do.

Our course is a little over $800 for the season, it’s a shithole for the most part but can’t beat the price.
 

There’s another course that’s about 10 miles from there that’s around a grand and it’s much nicer but no one wants to go there because we’ve been going to our current course for years and years. And it’s conveniently located to most of everyone’s homes.

It’s about 12 hours and lots of fun. I hope they do it again next year.

I don't think i'd be able to bring myself to join a 9 hole club

I'm not really a country club person but if I was going to join one, it's got to be a course I really like and i'm mostly joining for the events, member/member, member/guest, club championship etc.    I'd also have to play a lot more golf because i'm not going to stop playing the dozen other courses I currently play.

I only bothered to watch the final episode. I just honestly can't stand Portnoy. Bob, Cold Cuts and Fat Perez are the reasons to watch. 

So many of the invited players were straight up dog shiit, and the final match was some brutal golf to watch. No offense to the guy who passed away but he's not very good.  I might have personally enjoyed it more if it was either a better format or only legit social media golfers. It's just odd to have a former tour pro or two in a field with John Gruden and some guy named "The Duke".  

That said, Paige Spiranic cheating after chirping some other guy for "not playing competitive golf" was great. And the fat dude on Paige's team also clearly cheating. although i'd be willing to bet a lot of that was done intentionally to drive clicks and views and debate even after it ended.

I watched it from beginning to end, but I was disappointed a bit in how the format went because my favorite players were kicked out after the first day (Bob, FP, Joey, and Rick Shiels). 

I don't mind Portnoy, but I was glad DOD didn't win. If he was in a movie, I would have taken him first round of the movie character draft for punchable face.

3 courses within 10 miles of me. 1 is 18 holes and has a 15 year wait and 25k initiation fee

there's 2 very nice clubs near me. one was always more expensive and considered nicer... the course was definitely better... and has a wait list. I believe you also need to be recommended by a current member.  but the other has made some changes and is now neck and neck. Not sure the cost but I assume still cheaper. I play golf outings at both each year.

yeah, not to say it's not entertaining, but it feels like it should just be internet golf personalities if it's the internet invitational. I understood current and former good-good people being there, rick shiels, bob does sports, 4 play pod.   even that DOD tool bag.  Need Manolo there. Theres a bunch of other very good social media golfers... ben kruper, evan thompson. I didn't watch the early episodes but im assuming Claire Hogle dropped out? I've been watching her since she was in college and a guest on Golfholics channel.

I resigned from mine a couple months ago.  Wasn't using it as much as I thought I would.  Bar and restaurant pretty much sucked.  Club was stuffy.  The few times we went to the pool it was just Stepford wives with their teenagers running around everywhere.  

I do like a home club and playing the same holes over and over.  Really knowing a course helps with my handicap.

I golf once a year with friends... my ALL-TIME world record ...  122.  And that's with the double-par rule where ya pick up the ball and move along. 

Only have two birdies. The first one I retired the golf ball.  It's now a memento of how bad I suck at golf.

Before we moved we did that with a group that owned 3 different courses that were included.  One a block from our house and two others, that felt worth it.   It was fun.

That is the ideal setup. Pay for a membership that gives you access to multiple clubs. Sign me up now.
