So if you draft RBs and WR hard early and wait on QB, who do you take?

Recommended Posts

So if you draft RBs and WR hard early and wait on QB, If THESE are your options as QB1, what order do you rank them AND do i go two in a row? I need a WR as well but I could do back to back, rounds 9 and 10. Its an 8 man keeper so we start in round 9. Im loaded at RB and TE (graham)

Big Ben-always solid

A Dalton- dont get why he is ranked so low everywhere, put up 20-50 points more than these other slackers last year, INTs r a problem but 33 tds last year

C Kaepernick-will he explode this season or just continue the inconsistent play week in and week out

R Wilson- constant but upside seems capped at 28-30 TDs?

Eli (blah)- old eli or new eli ?

so, WHAT SAY YOU?

thanks

From those? I'd say Kaepernick or Wilson, especially in a 4-point passing TD league. I think the drafting of Jeremy Hill suggest a more run-heavy Cincinnati offense this year, and I don't expect Dalton to break 30 TDs again. Ben's always fine, but a little more up and down than Wilson or Kaep.

Cap and Wilson are considerably higher than the others. After Romo comes the drop. . That's been around the 8th- 9th round in my drafts so far. If you streamed big Ben and Dalton you'd probably be OK, but I prefer one of Cutler, Romo, Ryan.

Yeah, I would like Cutler, Romo, Ryan (especially) and Rivers more also but they are not available, just the guys i mentioned.

I'd say you waited too long, you want to get in the tier above these guys. I don't know what type of quality you are getting a RB and WR a round or two earlier but it is worth considering. Of the QBs listed I would take Dalton even though the new OC concerns me.

You are fine with both of those guys. I'll disagree with the above and say that I rarely have an elite QB and usually hitch my Wagon to a Romo type. I win plenty. There are dozens of ways to win.

Dalton. He is inexplicably falling as late a round 11. He was top 7 last year, has one of the best WR's in the NFL, and one of the best pass catching RB's in the NFL, and is just coming into his own.

I like the way you have them ranked . Just look at the avg per game each of them had last season , of that group Dalton was first Ben second . But i like it this coming season they way you have them listed .

Got Romo in round 8 and Wilson in round 11. Happy with those.

This is the setup you should aim for. Waits any longer lowers the value your getting from those extra picks. However, if you must wait extra long for qbs, I think a platoon of Ben and Wilson is good. Wilson's cap on tds is eclipsed by his running prowess, he has more upside than people give him credit for considering he's yet to finish outside the top 10 in his career. Then again, SB winning teams tend to take a year off and do t even make the playoffs the following year.

The one variable with Dalton is Gruden's departure and Hugh Jackson's promotion to OC. Jackson is far more run oriented than Gruden and Cincy looks to have the personnel to run effectively. This could make Dalton a better NFL QB but a less attractive fantasy QB.

Well that is a mixed bag of feelings on these 4 qbs,not a lot of help. :)

So far the votes are something like this:

Kap-4

Wilson-4

Big Ben-2

Dalton- 2

Rivers-2 (even though he isnt an option he still got 2 votes, weird)

well, im still stuck where i was before, any other thoughts?

Dalton for pure value. He is a steal at his ADP. Also, as other pointed out in a 4 pt throwing TD league guys like Russell Wilson and Kaep are more valuable since they get running TD's. All 3 are going later then where they will end up point wise (of course, this is just my opinion).

If I end up waiting that long I'll usually grab my backup shortly there after. I'd feel alot better about Kaepernick if I grabbed Russel WIlson or Dalton. You have to figure one of the two outperforms his adp.

He didnt do well in the playoffs, and played some easier games last year than usual.

The run first offense will hurt in many games. In the second half is when they will face the run stoppers.

Based on the schedule next year, Newton could be a good pick up in the seventh.

Green Bay

Minnesota

Chicago

Detroit

Atlanta

Philadelphia

Including Atlanta that is 7 games with possibly great production fantasy wise. He could also put up points in Cincinatti or Baltimore depending on the game flow and maybe against Cleveland.

Another though I would never take him, is Ryan as well.

Out of those

Big Ben-passing games:Ind, Hou, Cle, NO, TB, Atl, Cin(home)

Dalton-passing games:@Ind, @Hou, Cle, Bal, Den, Atl, and TB, maybe NO depending on the score.

CK-productive games:Phi, Was, Dal, Ari, @Ari, Chi, SD, Den, and Oak

Wilson-productive games:@Phi, @Was, Ari, GB, Oak, and SD.

Eli-passing games:Ari, Phi, @Dal, Was, Atl, @Det, and Ind

CK looks to benefit most here but Dalton and Big Ben are the ones capable of putting up a 35+ week.

I would grab Stafford then RGIII or a FOLES/Brady combination, high on Brees as well

Seriously like Dalton then Big Ben

I"d say it doesn't matter much. There's going to be very little difference between those post top 10 QBs. Ben, Rivers, Wilson, Kaep, Dalton...of those I'd say that Kaepernick has the most upside. But if you're waiting on a QB, I'd grab two of those guys and stream them. QBs are just so deep this year. You could even wait and grab a guy like McCown or Cassel and do very well. McCown and Cassel are going to finish much higher than people think.
