MLS strike looms

Recommended Posts

If there's one thing Major League Soccer absolutely, positively cannot afford this season, it's a strike by players. So guess what the league is looking at only days before Friday's scheduled season opener between the Galaxy and Chicago Fire at StubHub Center.

Blah blah blah.... http://www.latimes.com/sports/soccer/la-sp-soccer-baxter-20150301-story.html

Like most of you people, I could give a crap about MLS. But I'd LOVE to see them go on strike.

The city of Orlando got an expansion team this year and controversially donated a bunch of land to build a new soccer stadium - even using condemnation (illegally some say) on some property owners who refused to sell. The city is also chipping in $70+ million to actually build it. Nobody in Orlando wanted a soccer team, but the City approved it anyway for some god forsaken reason. Well, this was supposed to be the first year of Orlando soccer... and now they're about to go on strike.

Excellent. :D

This would be just disastrous for the league. Hardly any interest as it is. They can't afford top lose any fans. I sincerely hope there's a few intelligent people on each side who realize this and avoid a strike

If you are not MLBPA or NFLPA, and you strike, you are beyond stupid

That would be hilarious, similar to when the WNBA threatened it. Put a fork in the league if they do.

Little shocked that the league minimum is $36K.

that seems like far too much for a soccer player.

MLS won't exist in 10 years. Should have kept to the original model of being a minor league that sold players to the big boys.
