#6014736 Draft Buddy 2017 - Projections Updated 9/4

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 03 September 2017 - 12:00 PM

I haven't talked to him but I imagine MK is working on it as we speak so I can do it late tonight, so it is ready first thing in the morning. Problem is if anything else significant happens (which does happen sometimes) then it could push us back. Keep on top of the news (cuts) for now but hope for the best you don't have to make any changes to DB and we'll have it ready before 10:00am. We will see if MK chimes in here too.

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 07 August 2017 - 09:33 PM

Posted an unscheduled update just now with all of the injury news hitting us. Projections updated for Tannehill-Cutler, Jets loss of Quincy Enunwa, and Bills signing Anquan Boldin.

#5988266 3RR?

Here we go:

Put the teams on the owners tab in reverse order of first round, 12 to 1 instead of 1 to 12. Now rounds 3 and onward should all be correct.

Then change the draft order option at the top of the draft report tab to "Custom".

Now copy all the names under the Original Draft Pick Owner column for Round 3 and paste them into Round 2. Copy all the names for Round 4 and paste them into Round 1.

If you go to update Draft Buddy again, make sure on the action tab to change the Clear Keepers and Draft Picks option to "no" before running Compile Cheatsheets again.

Brutal. Thought everyone played FF in Missouri. Unfortunate so many business members of the SBFSTA (and FSTA) were so gung-ho supporting FanDuel and DraftKings.

#5527332 Projection Pal Now Available

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 28 August 2015 - 09:36 AM

That is pretty much it. You won't see any N/As in Draft Buddy after hitting Copy to Compiler, because Buddy should remove them, but an easy way to see if a player didn't copy over is to look for blank rows going up and down. The players are usually in pretty much rank order, so the higher up a blank row, the more likely the player got missed.

On the name changes tab in Pal is a list of players whose names will be found and changed automatically. I don't remember if ODB is in the list but you could certainly add him in there.

About the only way you could add more sets of projections is to copy them over prior year stats sections.

Nice thing about them is they have an Excel export so easy to copy the players into Projection Pal.

On the action tab, Update Projections will do the trick.

What version of Draft Buddy do you have Detwa? I'm not seeing that here. I think one of the original versions we had up might have been grabbing data from last year's update files (although it didn't seem to impact everyone). Is that what you are seeing? How are the numbers looking on your cheatsheets? Richardson should be projected for around 30 points, standard scoring.

#5513417 Switching Draft Order in Buddy

Whoops. A lot of the current "rules" tab and "options" tab used to be on a single tab called "setup".

#5513416 Projection Pal Now Available

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 06 August 2015 - 04:23 PM

Yes, the default projections are the same as found at fftoday.com.

Better projections? Better projections? Seriously though, what you've done is all you really need to do, and what most people do. Adding other projections is completely optional, and can be a bit difficult at times to be completely honest. And, not sure if it really results in better projections. Projections are very subjective and are a lot of personal preference.

If you have specific projections you want to add to Buddy to use or compare to the FF Today projections, then you can use Pal and hit me with questions if you get stuck. Your call.

Great for those taking part in #MFL10 drafts over at MyFantasyLeague. With Draft Buddy's MFL integration features you can easily update draft results.

Remember, for playing in multiple leagues, simply make a new copy of Buddy on your computer for each league.

#5274647 Run Draft Buddy on your iPad

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 28 July 2014 - 09:09 AM

Update: I just tried OnLive Desktop again for 2014 Draft Buddy and had good success. All I had to do was login to my free OnLive account and upload a 2014 Draft Buddy file. Then, open the OnLive app on my iPad. I'm using an old original iPad with iOS 5.1. I don't think it will let me update beyond that.

Anyway, the only thing the I couldn't do through OnLive was any macro involving a web query. That means Update Projections and MFL Integration are out.

Everything else worked well though. I could Compile Cheatsheets, draft a player, use drop-downs and browse from tab to tab easily. I could scroll around, pinch and pull screen views to get to where I needed to be.

I'd like to pull together a video demo but I've got two issues - how to record what I'm seeing on the iPad (since the one I have is so old), or getting the OnLive Desktop app on a newer iPad I have sitting here from my wife's work. It seems the OnLive app is not available in the Canadian iTunes store. I've sent a tweet to OnLive and we'll see what they say, but all-in-all, this seems to work pretty well.

I still think you need a good internet connection to do this. OnLive will time you out for non-activity, but in a live draft I wouldn't think there would be very much inactivity where you are either making your pick, putting in picks from other owners, or browsing Buddy to figure out your next pick.

Anyone else give this a try this year?

#5274459 Setting up Buddy

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 27 July 2014 - 07:02 PM

Okay, glad I asked you to clarify!

This is what I would do:

- starters 1 QB, 1 RB, 3 WR, 0 TE, 1 K, O-Flex 1

Then check off that RB, WR and TE are included in the Flex.

Also, check that WR and TE are combined. Make sure the WR and TE scoring are the same on the scoring tab.

My reason for doing it this way is because, since there isn't a defined TE, we might as well combine TE with the WR as one position. I realize you can only use a TE in that one WR/TE flex spot, but based on points only about 8-10 TE should be included in the Top 40 WR. Those would be the only TE that would fill that flex spot, and the rest would be WR, so that should be fine.

The 1 O-Flex spot we define is for the RB/WR starter.

Sound good?

As for defense, that is pretty straight forward. Starters 3 DB, 4 D-Flex, and check of all of DL, LB and DB.

#5075218 Updated Rosters

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 01 September 2013 - 01:59 PM

Hi deaner. For bit players, and sadly, Tebow is in that category now, we'll likely stick with the regular scheduled update. It gives us an opportunity to see what teams these new free agents might land on, too. Don't draft these guys! :)

Good luck!

#5064803 Flaw in the rankings?

Posted by Mike MacGregor on 21 August 2013 - 07:30 AM

HI Ryan. That would be a pure projections "issue" rather than the methodology with how Draft Buddy ranks the players. "Issue" meaning, you don't necessarily agree with the projections. The projections in Draft Buddy from FF Today are the same as on the website. In this scoring, no points for receptions, Jones (76-1,225-10) is ahead of White (98-1,330-8):

http://fftoday.com/r...D=30&LeagueID=1

But over here, with 1 point per reception, White passes Jones:

http://fftoday.com/r...LeagueID=107644

I think for these sort of things, your best bet is to change the rankings for players you feel strongly about moving up or down. Or, what I might do is after my cheatsheets are to the point I'm ready to go into the draft, just highlight a player such as White to identify as "do not draft". Maybe highlight Julio as "take earlier than here".

Remember though, if you change rankings or highlight players on the cheatsheets, and then compile again, your rankings get reset and highlights could move to the wrong players.

If you find the projections are so against what you believe to be true, then you could import an alternate set of projections that is more in line with your thinking.
