Just watched the new Star Trek Beyond movie

Recommended Posts

My son, my dad, and I all went to see the new Star Trek movie tonight. Dad even bought my son a limited edition Star Trek popcorn bucket.

The movie was pretty good. Last 30 minutes or so was OUTSTANDING.

I am NOT going to post a spoiler, so have no fear. I am going to mention something though in effort to help calm peoples' fears.

Yes, I am talking about Mr. Sulu and the gay tribute thing they did.

It was NOTHING. Not offensive at all, even to religious people who are against gay marriage. So if you thought maybe you or your minor child should not see this because you read about this "Tribute" they did, forget about it. No way a kid will even notice it unless you point it out and even then, it was still not a big deal at all.

It did not even remotely impact the movie.

Seriously, ABSOLUTELY NO IMPACT WHATSOEVER ON THE MOVIE. PERIOD.

It is only a few seconds, if that. Not in your face through the whole movie or anything even close to it, just in case someone was worried about that.

So go see this and take your kids, if you area Star Trek fan anyway.

Here is what happened for the gay tribute thing they did.

At one point in the movie, pretty early actually, they are all going on some type of shore leave. During this scene, you see crew members meeting their families and friends for the shore leave. While you see everyone meeting these people, Mr. Sulu greets his daughter and some guy. You barely even see the guy and the only thing that happens is Mr Sulu puts his arm around his guy's back as they walk away with the little girl that is Sulu's daughter. The entire thing took maybe 3 seconds. In fact, you probably had to be looking to even notice it.

Can't wait to see it. Big fan of the last two. Thanks.

  You will dig it then if you liked those. Had some pretty funny shtt too. You will laugh out loud at least once during the movie, probably more. Some of the stuff they do with Spock and Uhura is gold.

I thought it was a little too soon when the Enterprise backed over Checkov at the space dock.
