KSB2424 3,083 Posted November 7, 2017 ESPNs 30 for 30 Nature Boy airs tonight at 10:00 Eastern. One doesnt need to like Wrasslin to be entertained by this guy. The only Wrestling personality to actually live the life he portrayed. The 30 for 30 series is pretty much the only good thing ESPN airs these days and this one should be fantastic. Trust me, you will be entertained. Enjoy.

Probably the difference in our ages Ed. The Flair I grew up watching was the GOAT. When you were probably watching, he struggled to fit in in the cartoon era of WWF/WWE and to be honest, Vince McMahon didn't like him because he wasn't a ridiculous physical specimen like Hogan, Lugar, Andre, etc. But during the heyday of Flair and the Horsemen, there was no better entertainment value in wrasslin'. Whether you liked it or you didn't like it, you LEARNED to love it, cause it was the best thing going. WOOOOOO And yes, its still real to me dammit.

Although I'd say Hogan is the GOAT merely because he ushered in the change and mainstream popularity of wrasslin', after 5 years of Boring Bob Backlund as the WWF champ, it all changed when McMahon realized what he had in Hogan. Flair is the GOAT pre-Hogan though. I will definitely catch a replay of this 30 for 30. WOOOOOOOO$#@!

tanatastic 2,061 Posted November 7, 2017 I've seen phantom, but never rasslin'. If I had to choose now, I'd go with the fake fighting. I can understand people not watching, therefore not “getting it”. But everyone at some point in their lives had to have at least caught a bit of Hulk Hogan and macho man or ultimate warrior as a kid or The Rock and stone cold or undertaker as a teen/adult at SOME point. I feel like the GC has the literal last few remaining people over 10yrs old who don’t understand what pro wrestling is and what it’s about. I actually feel like the GC has the last few people of a lot of categories...it’s pretty surreal.

I feel like you are under some impression that WWE is trying to be real when its not and anyone over 9yrs old understands that its not. Do you like lean over to your buddies while watching Walking dead and remind them that zombies arent real? I worked out at a YMCA in Hickville PA as a youth in the late 80s; there was an ongoing debate about whether or not pro wrestling was fake or real. I would not be surprised if that debate rages on to this day. This was back before WWE when guys would cut themselves open with razor blades to bleed all over each other. Dusty Rhodes was the best bleeder. Anyway, I could maybe, maybe see how someone thought it was real then. Not really, but I wasn't talking to a bunch of rocket surgeons. But yeah, your point is well taken. It's a male soap opera. Funny, I never really watched it as my son was growing up, yet he became a big fan of it.
