stonewall 647 Posted November 22, 2017 Just a heads-up on a long-shot possibility for those who lost Chris Thompson. Washington Redskins RB Byron Marshall is expected to take over RB Chris Thompson's third-down role in Washington's offense. It's a gut punch for fantasy owners to lose Thompson, but Marshall should be on plenty of waiver wires out there. Marshall was signed off the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad just last week, but he does have experience as a receiver...most from his college days at Oregon. During the Ducks title run in 2014, Marshall had eight receptions for 169 yards and one touchdown in the championship game.
Schauermann 1 Posted November 22, 2017 I have no idea how Marshall will do as a Redskin but I can tell you as an Oregon Duck fan that he rushed for over 1,000 yard as a sophomore in 2013 then when Royce Freeman arrived and we had injuries at WR he moved to WR and had over 1,000 receiving yards in 2014. He got hurt at the start of his senior year but he is very versatile and seems like the perfect type of back to replace Chris Thompson. His numbers in the national title game were as a receiver. Challenger 72 Posted November 22, 2017 Oh wow, I was just going to make a thread about him. Picked him up via WW and dumped Ten D. One thing about Marshall, they had another RB in their own practice squad, but decided to sign off Eagles instead, that shows how much they value this kid. No need to argue how much he can catch and run route. His best comp is James White. He can be huge in Redskins offense replacing Thompson, especially if Perine being the old Perine again. He has the size to be a third down back plus early work. This is kind of lottery that can win league, don't miss out! Pick him up now! *My bold prediction, Marshall will get the same touches as Perine and out score him in FF points.
Challenger 72 Posted November 23, 2017 Alright guys, there is nothing to loss here, pick him up before the noon game! Free lottery ticket, Last chance before the gate close! Here are your reasons again: 1. Prolific offense 2. Only 1 running back in front of him with a very average record 3. Past history showed that third down back thrive in this offense 4. Great pass catching ability with good enough size to play all 3 downs If he doesn't work out, drop him for late games players. What are you waiting for!? cyclone24 1,814 Posted November 23, 2017 Sorry...don’t have room. I was already told Dede Westbrook and Corey Coleman were essentially Megatron and Jerry Rice. I don’t have room for Marshall Faulk.

LOL, I would totally drop Westbrook. You can always pickup someone later like Mike Williams or my sleeper Chester Rogers!

crackills 19 Posted November 23, 2017 you guys need to put down the crack pipe.. no way in hell is he worth a pickup (this is coming from skins fan) 1. Perine is a 3 down back that can catch (although not great at it). 2. Marshall has been on the team for 2 weeks maybe, has not had time to learn the playbook 3. Thompson is a truly talented back, that was heavily trusted by the coach.. Marshall is not. 4. The O line is now built out of 2nd and 3rd stringers... not much room to run. He'll be lucky to get you 3-4 touches and 2-3 receptions.

Not the same back but Grudens offence uses pass catching backs a lot... Perine goes back to fumbling he could spend time on the bench. Perfectly good bench stash

I only hype free square guy, Marshall is 100% free right now to pickup, does not cost you anything. Of course he could flop big time, but that's why he is free! Zero cost with upside, what's not to like?
LaChup 154 Posted November 23, 2017 Has a tenth stringer RB ever been fantasy relevant this late in the season?

Perfectly good bench stash so because one random rb came off a practice squad and did well in a #1 role.. now every rb that comes off the practice squad is a stud? nice logic.. remind me not to take any stock market advice from you. Grudens O uses pass catching back because they had a great one in Thompson. If you are expecting a random PS guy to come in and replace Thompson in production and trust.. you're in for a rude awakening. my point was that if you're starting this guy this week and expecting decent production there are better options.. any other rb is a better option. Challenger 72 Posted November 23, 2017 No one say anything about starting, this is a lottery stash, same as Clement last week. I am starting Clement this week tho.
Kopy 491 Posted November 23, 2017 No one say anything about starting, this is a lottery stash, same as Clement last week. I am starting Clement this week tho. Agreed. At this stage of the year. What the heck else IS available on the waiver wire.Might as well throw the dart.
Kopy 491 Posted November 23, 2017 LOL, I would totally drop Westbrook. You can always pickup someone later like Mike Williams or my sleeper Chester Rogers! I'd try to drop something else. Westbrook has major skills. It's not gonna help this year, as he's already missed alot of time. But next year he could pay huge dividends.Westbrooks only enemy is gonna be himself. Think Justin Blackman or Josh Gordon by what I mean by he's his own worst enemy. Skills wise. Kids got it.
Challenger 72 Posted November 24, 2017 Nothing special show today, not sure I want to drop Marshall yet since Perine re-injured his finger during the game. Final snap counts: Samaje Perine 50 Byron Marshall
weepaws 2,460 Posted November 24, 2017 Hey he did have a great tip right too Jenkins for a pick six.
Challenger 72 Posted November 24, 2017 Hey he did have a great tip right too Jenkins for a pick six. You mean when Kirk foot got stuck on the ground and threw a bad short pass that sailed over Marshall head? I appreciated Kirk's bad throw because it led to Doctson TD eventually, and everyone else got the yards.
weepaws 2,460 Posted November 24, 2017 Yeah that was the play. He did make a great tip right too Jenkins. I bet he gets a Christmas card from Jenkins. Great play.
Challenger 72 Posted December 1, 2017 Well, one week too early, I doubt anyone is holding onto him. Perine is out.
ZeroTolerance 582 Posted December 1, 2017 Perine better not sit the rest of the game. I have enough sh*t going wrong these last few weeks.
cousinal111 57 Posted December 1, 2017 Perine has been cleared to come back. I don't know how effective he'll be considering the game script.
Challenger 72 Posted December 1, 2017 Perine better not sit the rest of the game. I have enough sh*t going wrong these last few weeks.Last time I heard is concussion. So could be good or very bad. I thought I heard he was declared out already, maybe that was for the lineman. I am reading he is cleared too.
SpenceToons 70 Posted December 1, 2017 I was thinking about this thread. I could probably even pick him up but was Perine's injury severe enough that he'd miss next week ? Edit: cousinal says no.
