Davone Bess was arrested in his offseason with the Cleveland Browns. I think you may have to consider him #1 regardless if it was before the Super Bowl!

http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2014-01-17/davone-bess-arrested-assault-police-airport-cleveland-browns-marijuana-photo-update

Cleveland Browns receiver Davone Bess was arrested on Friday morning at the Fort Lauderdale airport for assault on an "officer/firefighter," CBS Miami reports.

Bess found himself at the center of a social media controversy on Thursday when he posted a photo showing a drink, a cigar and what appeared to be marijuana.

While Bess has found the headlines this week, the Cleveland-centric blog Waiting For Next Year documented a pattern of similar behavior from the receiver that extends well beyond his recent trouble.

Darren Sharper charged with drugging and raping two women

http://www.wlox.com/Global/story.asp?S=24726088

LOS ANGELES, CA (WVUE) - Former New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper was charged Friday with drugging and raping two women, one in October and the other last month, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Los Angeles Deputy DA Stacy Okun-Wiese said Sharper is charged with two counts of rape by use of drugs, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

The complaint alleges the controlled substances were zolpidem and morphine.

Okun-Wiese will ask a judge to raise his bail to $10 million because Sharper, who lives in Miami, Fla., is suspected of raping women in Arizona, Nevada and Louisiana.

In a motion filed Friday to increase his bail, prosecutors said Sharper met two women at a West Hollywood nightclub on Oct. 30, 2013, and invited them to another party.

On the way, Sharper allegedly told them he had to stop by his Los Angeles hotel room to pick something up and invited both women inside. While there, he allegedly gave each woman a shot. Each woman passed out. Victim one allegedly woke up naked hours later with Sharper sexually assaulting her.

The second woman allegedly awoke and "interrupted his actions," the motion states. The two women then left the hotel.

On Jan. 14, Sharper met two separate women at the same West Hollywood nightclub and invited them to a party. Stopping at his hotel, he allegedly invited both up to his room, offered them a shot, and each passed out.

Sharper is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. His attorney has denied the allegations in the past.

Go to the hood and give everyone a few million bucks, then wait a few weeks...then count how many of them are in jail after that time. Prob be easier to count how many are NOT in jail.

That experiment would equate to an nfl offseason.

Ray Rice arrested in Atlantic City

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-running-back-ray-rice-arrested-after-incident-in-atlantic-city-20140216,0,132362.story

Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested over the weekend after an alleged physical altercation with a woman at a casino in Atlantic City, according to his attorneys.

Rice’s attorney Andrew Alperstein confirmed Rice was charged and released after what he described as allegations of a “very minor physical altercation” at Revel Casino on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Alperstein said a woman he identified as Rice’s fiancée was also charged and released in connection with the incident.

Rice, 27, was released on his own recognizance, Alperstein said.

The Revel casino security department declined to comment when reached earlier Sunday. Atlantic City police have not returned calls about the incident.

According to Ravens director of public relations Chad Steele: "We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained."

Michael Diamondstein, a Philadelphia-based attorney, has been hired to represent Rice.

“We haven’t seen any charging documents yet,” Diamondstein said. “There was an argument that included Ray. I can’t give any specifics because we haven’t seen the document yet.”

“Once we’re able to go through the evidence, it should wind up to be little more than a misunderstanding,” Diamondstein said.

Since getting drafted out of Rutgers in the second round of the 2008 draft, Rice has been one of the Ravens’ most popular and productive players. A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Rice has rushed for 6,180 yards and 37 touchdowns over six NFL seasons.

However, he’s coming off his most disappointing season as a pro as he was limited to 660 rushing yards and four touchdowns this past season as the Ravens missed the playoffs for the first time since he’s been on the team.

Rice, who signed a five-year, $35 million deal with the Ravens in July 2012, has also been one of the organization’s most active players in the community. He’s been especially active in anti-bullying campaigns.

Great comment on espn.com about the story:

Police: "the suspect, Rice, attempted to run but deputies were able to tackle him after 3 yards"

http://wtop.com/369/3578298/Ravens-Jah-Reid-busted-in-Key-West

KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) -- Baltimore Ravens tackle Jah Reid faces misdemeanor charges following a fight at a strip club in Key West, Florida.

Key West police say the fight broke out early Sunday at the Red Garter strip club when 21-year-old Edmond Mussa accidently bumped into Reid. The two then exchanged words and 25-year-old Reid head-butted Mussa.

Police say Reid continued attacking Mussa until he fell on the ground. He then began kicking Mussa. When a security guard tried to break up the fight, Reid punched him in the face.

Reid, who is 6-foot-7 and weighs 340 pounds, told officers the security guard tried to choke him.

He's charged with two counts of battery.

It makes me laugh how the writers include life time statistics, and achievements in the middle to end of these articles to perhaps build credibility or just fill space.

I am familiar with who Ray Rice is thank you. I am aware he had a disappointing season last year, again thanks.

And for non sports fans that hear these stories, is Darren Sharper less of a bad person because he has a Super Bowl ring, or had 2 INTs in one game???

He's retired so it doesn't count, but:

Former Denver Broncos player John Moffitt was arrested near River North's The Underground nightclub after he punched a man in the head and was caught with pot, cocaine and ecstasy, according to prosecutors.

Moffitt, 27, who retired from the NFL in November, was charged with two felony drug possession counts in addition to misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor pot possession.

Not everyone is...

Agreed. There are those who live under rocks; however, these same people tend to not read sports articles about professional athletes.

Not number 1 officially, as it happened in December, but Bucs WR Mike Williams is facing charges for trespassing and criminal mischief.

And now he's a victim... as his brother gets arrested (when the cops find him) for stabbing him in the leg.

Seriously, the dumbest thing you could possibly do at an airport is mention the word bomb.

Guy has some serious talent but just as much baggage to go with it. Very sad.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/28/josh-morgan-charged-with-assault-days-after-signing-with-the-bears/

Days after he signed a contract to leave Washington and play in Chicago, new Bears wide receiver Josh Morgan was at a Washington, D.C. nightclub, where he was involved in an incident with a valet, leading to an assault charge.

Multiple reports say Morgan was arrested and faces a charge of misdemeanor simple assault.

The valet, Kenneth Johnson, told NBC Washington that Morgan hit him for looking at the women Morgan was with.

Not arrested yet, but: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/new-bronocs-safety-t-j--ward-has-warrant-issued-for-his-arrest-233309494.html

Presumably, the best way to endear yourself to a new community as a prized NFL free-agent signing is not to get involved in a fight at a strip club and have an arrest warrant issued. Or maybe safety T.J. Ward is trying out a different way of introducing himself to his new city.

Ward, the former Brown who signed a four-year, $22.5 million contract with the Broncos this offseason, had a warrant issued for his arrest according to a story from CBS4 in Denver. Denver police confirmed a warrant has been issued for a misdemeanor assault and disturbing the peace.

The court records said little about what happened but CBS4's sources told the station that it stemmed from a scuffle inside a Denver strip club. The Denver Post said the charges come from a fight at a Denver strip club on May 9, and police are waiting for Ward to surrender to authorities.

No arrests, but:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/05/29/three-ravens-reportedly-kicked-out-of-club-for-being-drunk/

According to TMZ (via CBS Washington), three Ravens found themselves involuntarily removed on Saturday from a Maryland bar for being drunk. Since bars typically include people who are drunk, common sense suggests that one must be quite drunk to get kicked out.

The allegedly inebriated Baltimore players were receiver Jacoby Jones, cornerback Jimmy Smith, and running back Bernard Pierce.
