Actually he was a Thompson pick.

beat me to it. I think that was Thompsons 1st draft and Rodgers fell so far that I think Thompson felt like he had to draft him.

Not sure he ever really wanted him though.

This is smart because I think Rodges will be a bust.

Just do it, Just do it (starsky and hutch line). I would love to see Moss with the Flinger of all Flingers. Maybe they can go out in style!

I just don't wee it happening. There are so many reasons why this makes no sense for the Packers that I just don't even want to start trying to type them.

If he restructures, there's even more reasons that DO make sense though. As a lifelong Packer fan, I'd love to see this deal happen.

Why? So we can go 9-7 instead of 8-8? No thanks, the guy is a cancer and won't get us to the SB so who cares?

Actually, Moss hasn't caused that many problems with his mouth in the East Bay. Sure, he's complained here and there, but who wouldn't in that situation? In this Raider fan's opinion, the problems Moss has caused are with his lack of effort on the field. He's sort of the "anti-T.O"...

I would love to see this happen. Just like the Bears keeping Grossman. This will set the Packers back even further. I love it two washed up guys on the same field. Hey call Jerry Rice he will come play too. This is like Packers fans on crack. I hope the Packers do this. Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeee! :pointstosky:

I think the jury's still out on Rodgers, but I'd like this deal a lot.

GB takes a shot at a Pro Bowl WR and gets to keep their drafts picks. Some folks will, and are here, both over-estimating Rodgers value in GB and under-estimating Moss' value anywhere outside Oakland.

Mostly Moss has trouble not winning. I've seen him play hurt. I've seen him try to rally the troops. I think his kind of "cancer" is exactly the kind of "cancer" Favre has. Those two country bumpkins could gel something fierce.

I wanted to add my opinion on this based on the majority "Don't trade the future" talk starting to build. Please keep a few things in mind.

1.) Rodgers fell into the Packers lap at 24. He freefell and TT sticking to his BPA mantra took him. He fell into their lap

2.) McCarthy seriously scouted both Smith and Rodgers for months leading up to the 2005 draft as the 49ers had the #1 pick. They chose Smith

3.) While we and media continue to say we don't know what we have in Rodgers, I firmly believe the Packers do know what they have. He has been with the Packers for a few years now and McCarthy is considered by some to be a qb guru. I guarantee you he knows exactly what Rodgers can and cannot do and has a strong opinion on him.

4.) If Favre does decide to play another 2 years, Rodgers is providing the Packers no help. He is a first round pick earning first round money sitting on the bench. Any player who gets on the field will help the Packers more than Rodgers.

5.) If Favre does play another 2 years, Rodgers will be up for free agency before he ever sees the field. Will the Packers be willing to pay him?

6.) The Packers have a long history of trading their backup qb's (Brunell, Brooks, Hasselbeck).

I understand the reluctance of everyone regarding trading for Moss. He is now 30 years old, has declining production, a bad attitude, and a reputation for quitting on his team. I do have some concerns with the Packers trading Rodgers for Moss, but I don't really have an issues with the Packers trading Rodgers. As I said, do not be foolish enough to assume that the Packers don't have a strong opinion on whether Rodgers has the talent to lead this team. If the Packers truly believe Rodgers isn't their qb of the future and if Favre has hinted at playing 2 more years, why not move him for someone who can actually get on the field and help the team? The Packers can make a move for a guy like Tim Rattay and then look to draft another qb in a year or two.

As a Packer fan, I'd love to see this trade. Not that I think Moss will take us to the Superbowl, although I do think he has some gas left in the tank and would give this team a playmaker on offence that it desparately needs. I just want to get rid of Rodgers so we can think about a real QB for the future. I have no confidence in Rodgers taking over at any point. Trade him for Moss now, then trade to get Carr from Houston. Carr was a much better prospect coming out of college, and a year sitting on the bench without getting sacked 10 times a week should help him get back on track. Then when Brett retires we have a young, experienced QB to step in.

I find it hard to believe that Moss isn't excited at the prospect of catching passes from The Gunslinger and vice versa.

Sure, he has complained some while in Oakland, but in that situation, what Pro Bowl receiver wouldn't?

Why have I heard this so much? He has some left in the tank......based on what? It's speculation only. He's not been relevant since the 3rd/4th game into his 1st season with the Raiders.

Anyone who has watched Moss play lately can see he has lost a step. You can say he lost interest, was bored, etc. but the fact remains he is not the player he was. So now you all want a speed receiver who has lost a step but doesn't block or go over the middle. Remember he is carrying a $10 million contract and if you think he is renegotiating, when was the last time Randy Moss did something for the good of the team.

If you want a guy who can stretch the field and that's it........why not go after Lelie? At least he hasn't lost a step.

If Moss was gonna cost a #1 pick, I'd agree with all you doom 'n' gloomers. At the low cost the Packers are discussing, they'd be fools not to look into the possibility that a once-dominating imapct player can't recapture some of that glory.

Lelie was as good as Moss LAST year. Why, oh why, would that be an option?

I was not being completely serious about Lelie, but he can run the fly pattern and that's it. And actually, what more does Moss do other than throw his hand up in the air and head deep.....only now, it's not as fast as it once was.

My whole point is he has been hurt a lot the past few years.....and when he has been "healthy" enough to play, he's looked very average. I don't believe he is even worth it at a reduced price.

Fair assesment.

I think he plays hurt, he complements both Favre and Driver and he still runs about a 4.3 after having lost a step. Guy's a field-tilter matched with Favre.

Driver, Moss and Jennings. *takes a moment to dream a little dream* Hard to argue with the damage that trio can dole out. Randy will never have to run a cross again in his life. Just slants for 76-yard TDs.

It's not that I dislike Moss so much that I wouldn't want him, and I would like to dream of an unstoppable wr corp, but if I'm dreaming about Moss it's going to have to be Moss circa 2003 or even 2004.

In my opinion, that Moss doesn't live here anymore.

The bong is calling you...it wants those 5 hits back.

1. he doesn't play hurt, and he's hurt more often now than early in his career because he doesn't put in the time in conditioning.

2. he doesn't have anything even resembling 4.3 speed. The fastest official time at the combine this year was 4.4 for perspective. I don't know if Moss EVER had 4.3 speed, even on turf.

3. You also seem to neglect to consider the several steps that Favre has lost along the way as well - all the dreamy Packers fans want to see is a true #1 WR to compliment Driver - what they forget is that Favre is a pick machine the last several years, and that will result in losing. Losing results in an unhappy Moss. An unhappy Moss results in an unproductive Moss. It's a tried and true recipe.

4. When said brooding, afro donning Moss shows up moping around, what do you think will happen the 1st time he gets in Favre's face when he thought he was open? You really think HOF #4 is going to take that from a punk like Moss who's never won anything? I think Favre will deck him if that happens.

Yeah - this is a match made in heaven. Good luck with that Packer fans...I think your team has far bigger priorities than signing a has been malcontent locker room cancer who despite being team captain quit on them around week #3. And for 9 million - what a bargain! :dunno:

Actually I want to see a solid #2 to compliment Driver who is a #1 WR.

Favre has lost a step? Fine...though I dont expect him to be running fly patters so it does not bother me much.

Might be worth it to see Favre punch Moss in the face though.

As for Moss...I have yet to see him being much of any locker room cancer...not even close to TO who you constantly defend no matter what.

Because Moss is better than the WR we took that year who is no longer in the league?

Because if Favre sticks around another 2 years, we will have to figure out what to pay Rodgers in free agency?

Because the coaches may just feel that Rodgers will not be the best fit and would rather find the right guy in this draft or elsewhere and just want to get something for him?

Every one of us hanging on his sack? Nah...we leave that to you and your scary manlove for anyone drafted by the lions.

Most thought he fell and it was nice to grab him at that spot...and I recall plenty that did not like the pick.

I was one who was happy to have a possible replacement for Favre...a guy with possible top of the draft talent that fell into our lap late in the 1st round.

Let's get real Sho - I defended Owens ON FIELD behavior. When it came to the "attempted suicide" I defended waiting for the whole story, much like you and Adam Jones recently.

During his career, Randy Moss once ran over a cop with a half smoked joint in his ashtray - that's not proof?

Being team captain and publically ripping his team on national radio - that's not proof?

Calling out players in the press - also not proof?

Come on - Moss is the ultimate brooding cancer.

Might do well with a change of scenery.

Ah well - at least we'll both enjoy seeing Favre hit him. Hope that happens, as it'll make Sportscenter watchable again. :P

No...you very clearly claimed there was no story with the OD thing...over and over you whined about people making such a big deal about it...no need to spin it away with falsehoods now.

Favre has publicly ripped his team...as has Manning...are they locker room cancers?

Said this before in other Moss threads. Why offer anything for him? He's likely to be cut anyway with his salary, attitude. Then you also need not worry about his current bloated contract as it will be voided. And, I prefer the Pack not sign him. Never liked him.

Uh, no. I said he didn't OD. I also said that the media blew everything out of proportion. Further I said that I doubted that he had his stomach pumped based on a paramedic saying he did.

Ran over a cop is proof he is a locker room cancer? Nice proof?

He's a cancer. They are trading him because he's a brooding pr!ck, and an expensive one at that. In his tenure with the Raiders, he did nothing to help his team except take a paycheck.

Favre has publicly ripped his team...as has Manning...are they locker room cancers?

At the time, yes. Absolutely. They pay his salary and he is an employee - ripping your team in the media is a crap thing to do. What, Manning & Favre are untouchable because they're media friendly? I think it's weak for any player to badmouth their team.

first pac man, and now moss. you've had a very full week defending the nfl's "best." good work, counsel

moss doesn't have it anymore--his second gear is gone and his attitude has always sucked. not worth a day 1 pick, which the packers would be giving up in essence.

A day one pick???? 3 years ago!!!! You know what a day one pick from the 2004 draft is worth today, nada.

If the Lions were offered a stick of gum for Mike Williams they would of taken it, day one pick or not.
