I will say though, and I can't emphasize this enough: any data you find on regrets or post-intervention satisfaction in general comes from BEFORE the social contagion of the past few years. We simply do not know how much damage we are doing now. Some European countries have started to figure it out, but we unfortunately choose not to learn from them.

    Thanks, and I also want to make sure that folks with true gender dysphoria get the appropriate care and counseling they need. Looking at your link tho, a few things: One, the survey is self-identifying. That's a red flag as I've mentioned several times; it isn't based on professional diagnoses of gender dysphoria. Two, given that it is based on self-reporting, why do you think 3X of teens identify as trans vs. adults? Shouldn't those numbers be roughly the same? My argument is that social contagion explains the additional 2X. It's an anonymous self-report -- what is your explanation?

    Well I said "not exactly" and went on to explain why this is a systemic issue of our society lauding and encouraging people to identify as trans (rather than deal with their true issues of personality disorders, anxiety, depression, hormonal changes, social awkwardness, etc.) and encouraging acceptance of such self-diagnoses by said clinics.

    @jerryskids I believe your concern that the number of transgender clinics has exploded in recent years is based on a misconception that the number of those who identify as transgender has also exploded. This is, IMO, is false: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/new-study-estimates-16-million-us-identify-transgender-2022-06-10/ Based on a study from last year, 1.6 million Americans identify as transgender. That’s a tiny percentage of the population. But my theory is that these folks were always around: because of greater social acceptance in our current day they are willing to admit it openly, both to others and themselves. Before, it was hidden away. It still is for many: you can bet that the actual number is much higher than 1.6 million. But this is why the number of clinics have exploded, to fulfill a need that has always been there, but never revealed until now. My main concern is that this backlash against trans from conservatives will cause many of them to go back into hiding, will all that entails. And the suicides will increase.

    Most if not all people that want to ban transgender care are fundamentally against trans people. Some will admit, others will hide behind specious arguments like these.

    My understanding is that trans people who have yet to undertake the transition suffer from gender dysphoria. But I have no idea if this is absolutely true in all cases. But let’s cut to the chase. What I think doesn’t matter, what YOU think doesn’t matter. These sorts of decisions are best left to the person in question, in consultation with medical authorities, and with family if he or she is a minor. The state shouldn’t be involved, so I shouldn’t have to answer your questions.

    For kids, it should be up to the doctor and parents to diagnose and treat diseases or mental disorders of any kind. It’s already illegal for doctors to prescribe drugs and surgeries fraudulently. Most lawmakers know absolutely nothing about medicine, so why are they inserting themselves between doctors and patients? Jon Stewart put this question to the AG of Arkansas too, and the answer was, as always, that the anti-trans lawmakers think they know better than parents and doctors what’s good for somebody else’s kids. It’s really a betrayal of what the GOP claims to stand for.

    I see you've listed the APA anyway. You do you, I guess. There is a significant overlap of personality disorders in trans folks including borderline, bipolar, and narcissistic. It's easy enough for folks to google each of these if they want.

    It might be possible, like if you can groom someone to murder themselves, then you can probably groom them to cut their d off. Still, it's an insane leap of judgement. Because there are not groups of people that are trying to get kids to cut their d's off. It's just stupid. Probably more cult leaders than trans activists that want to cut their d's off. We're not outlawing religion. Basically if you wanna keep your kid safe, be a good parent.

    A select few extremists? Where the fock have you been... China? Do you know what the "T" means in LGBTQ.....? The month of June, along with the homosexual community, the entire Democrat base is supporting, showing "Pride", and encouraging the "T"ransgender community. It's also supported in academia at every level, including sports. State governments, including school boards (elected officials), as well as medical institutions want to specifically protect trans students and even go as far as providing PHYISICAL medical "treatment", without the parents not just being uninformed, but also denying them intervention.

    According to this guy, they’re making companies Force these views on people whether we want them or not. They don’t care. Scary times when you have major companies like this flat out telling people they’re going to force behaviors on you and there’s nothing you can do about it.     We've been thru this. I asked where you got this, you said the APA, I pointed out with a link that they are a lobbying organization which does not do research, you had nothing in response. A month or two from now you'll rinse and repeat. Gender dysphoria is a mental disorder. A diagnosis for gender dysphoria is included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5), a manual published by the American Psychiatric Association https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/gender-dysphoria/symptoms-causes/syc-20475255#:~:text=A diagnosis for gender dysphoria,by the American Psychiatric Association. Any other people claiming to be trans are confused, playing the victimivictimization and/or experiencing the undeniable widespread social contagion going on in this country.

    Wall st is not pushing corporations to follow ESG. They are doing it themselves. And it's not trans stuff, it's modern slavery, carbon emissions, conflict minerals, ethics, etc. We can't be sure he's talking about anything. I know blackrock has been attacked by the right lately, hell some people here tried to argue that they are buying people's houses and evicting them for focks sake. Gotta stop believe the lies man.

    Again, not relevant to my point. But to your separate point, I believe there are people with true gender dysphoria, although it is much rarer than the number of confused people claiming to be trans these days. As such I tend to give individual adults the benefit of the doubt, unless I learn otherwise. I believe that if you take the position that it is all fake, you create a non starter for the negotiation. If instead you acknowledge that a rare number exist but we need to address the social contagion in our youth. I feel that you have a solid position to defend.
