Bears vs Lions

Recommended Posts

My point is...............I like all of your input when it simply that.......input. The problem comes with the antagonism. Hell, you all know a bunch of good stuff on your teams, and all the other teams in the divison in general. It's just hard to glean the good stuff from these long senseless threads. I would truly love to have a beer with any of ya!!!......................If that makes me a poosay, then so be it! I will always have each of your backs when you are being senselessly attacked by a troll or alias trying to drag you into one of these fiascos, but we have all been around long enough to do better with each other. Shalom!!!!! :shocking:

exactly my point. offering a 6-month ban is nothing more than pure hatred and antagonism. i wouldn't even do that kind of bet if i were on the good end of a gimme game. that would be sign i've sunk to a level where someone has "gotten" to me and that venom and hatred have won out.

i don't desire to send anyone here to the netherworld :wall: if anyone wants some good-natured bets to come out of these nfcn battles, i'm up for it. :wall:

So anyways....

The Lions will win 24-10!

Based on?

My opinion, as are most other things I say.

robokop told me after week 1 that i owed him a repeat bet when the lions visited lambeau. he was such a good sport about the week 1 sig bet that i told him i would oblige him on the return game at lambeau.

but if there's something else we can work out at any time, i'm game for whatever bet you might suggest.

cheers.

All I really want is a repeat of the magic , forgotten season when 4 teams from the Norse made the playoffs. That was one of the more amazing feats ever in the NFL.

i don't recall that off hand...what year was that?

i am getting sick of the division as a whole getting ridiculed. here's the kicker: if they had all-star teams from each division...the norris division would have one of the best overall teams (offense, defense, special teams) of any division in football.

qb: favre

rbs: thomas jones, kevin jones (or a healthy ahman)

wrs: walker (if healthy), driver (that's what i'd go with this year)

te: franks or wiggins (?)

k: hanson

st: drummond

defense:

line: ogenabaloadfdf (the bear guy), karem abdul blah blah (the packer guy), shaun rogers, williams.

linebackers: barnett, urlacher, briggs

safeties: kennedy, brown (?)

cbs: bly...smoot (?) maybe al harris the way he's been hung out to dry this year but played pretty well.

i didn't do o-line because i don't know those guys as well...

Not bad...though I would put Wiggins maybe in there ahead of Franks. Franks is good at blocking at in the redzone...but not much to talk about between the 20s as a receiving TE.

Though..I think any all-star teams would be good...

AFCW

QB Any of them. Probably lean towards Green or even Plummer

RB LT, Priest, Jordan

WR Moss, Smith, McCardell

TE Gates

Id do one for the AFCS but it would be all Colts (except maybe take the Texan's O-line :headbanger: )

NFCE Pretty good too

QB - McNabb, Eli

RB - Portis, Tiki, Westbrook, JJ

WR - Moss, TO, Burress

TE - Shockey/Witten

Hell of a defense could be put together too.

here's another interesting tidbit from nfl.com:

according to their stats, the bears have the 2nd overall defense in the nfc and the lions #5 (#9 overall). the bears give up 260 yards a game on average, the lions 290.

yet no one in the media says anything about the lions defense versus the bears offense in this game. and it goes far beyond the injuries. if bly and rogers were completely healthy we'd still hear nothing but stuff about how the bears defense is going to throttle the lions offense.

again, this isn't week 2 and this isn't in chicago. even with bly and (possibly) rogers out the lions defense is very good and pretty deep. there needs to be equal attention given to the issue of the bears offense versus the lions defense...unless everyone believes the week 2 performance is a given to repeat itself. i can't believe there aren't more bear fans at least somewhat concerned by this game.

First, the Lions have avged 297 yards against, not 290. A 37 yard gap is nothing to sneeze at.

Secondly, you mention often about how bad the bears O is (and it is below par), but so is Det's. Bears have avged 248 yards - Det 253. What makes you think that Det can all of a sudden light it up with their top 3 WRs out?

Det's D is pretty good when healthy, but they will be without their top two players. Chi's D is better and are healthy.

The math just doesnt add up for you and I find it surprising that you arent somewhat concerned by this game.

The truth of the matter is that neither team has any right to be overly confident against any opposition.

But, if you look at the teams position by position, qb, te and pk are the only spots where Det has an advantage.

aside from my joke at the score being 24-10 (as five of these games have been 3 points or less the past few years, i doubt it), where have i suggested i'm not concerned about this game?

we all know the bear defense/lion offense matchup. how could we not? that's ALL that's talked about. nothing else! but my point is that you and other bear fans seem to be very, very confident. and that's your right, i suppose. just providing a little balance

and 37 yards per game is the difference between the #2 defense in the nfc and the #5. not the giant chasm you make it out to be. and you mentioned the injuries, not me. no excuses. the lions defense is deep enough to overcome those injuries.

i do think the bears defensive stats have been decisively padded at home and compromised on the road this season. i happen to think that whole home-field-intangible aspect is a bigger issue in this game than you're giving it credit for.

but we shall agree to disagree and let events unfold sunday.

cheers.

I know its mostly trash talk and bravado, but I havent seen the least bit of concern in any of your posts in this thread up until this one.

Am I confident? sort of. I think Chi is better. Not by alot or by a giant chasm as you say, but think they will win. I've been wrong before.

I dont discount the home / road issue. Just not sure that it is as paramount as you suggest.

Garcia is a scary qb. His mobility adds an element to the game. Vines and MW however dont scare me at all.

There is no locks with these two teams My prediction was a 16-9 snoozer where Det gets 3 FGs and cgi gets 1 TD and FGs in a grind it out on the ground win. That has been their blueprint in every game except Cinci. No one in their right mind expects it to be 38-6 again.

hey, i've been a lion fan for decades...it's not so much "not showing concern" as it is having been exposed to everything that could go wrong going wrong for so long that i'm completely immunized from fear and concern and, as the song says, comfortably numb :D

Hrm... Why don't a bunch of Bear fans just take the 'month-ban' bets and if they win, swamp dog has to be banned one month for each of the bets he loses (e.g., three bets = three consecutive months banned)?

Doesn't really matter, 'cause for sure he'll have his alias warmed up and ready to go on Sunday afternoon at around 4:10 P.M. EST.

People are forggeting the Cory Shles wasnt playing in game 1. people are also forgetting that Cory Shles OWNS Urlacher every single game they have played against each other. When Cory is blockinh Brian, Brian is a Complete non factor. Watch tommorow and see how many times COry pancakes Brian!

We'll see what happens Sunday... I'll be rooting for the Lions, and wondering if they'll manage to throw away another game, or actually get beat.

Give the Bears credit... they pounded the Lions once already this season. Unlike a couple other loses that could have been wins, that game the Lions got their asses handed to them.

This isn't the same game, though. Detroit's loses at WR are hopefully made up for by Garcia being in at QB.

Losing Bly hurts, no question... it remains to be seen if Orton can take advantage, but a big play could easily win this game.

Two good to very good defenses, two bad or worse offenses... this is going to be an ugly game. I'd say whoever wins the turnover battle will win the game.

T. Jones could also win it for the Bears, but I think the Lions swarm him this week.

Good luck Lions.... you'll need some this week.

P.S. - Donhaas: This :pointstosky: for you...

again???

When did I turn you down the first time??

There's a huge difference. Cincinatti is a huge favorite at home and I haven't been talking about how sh!tty the Bengals are for the last four years and invading their threads. I'm also not spouting off constantly how I think the Packers will win.

The Packers will be handing the ball off to T. Fisher and throwing to some World League receivers. It just doesn't look good.

Still, I'll take your bet. One week ban from FFToday for Sampdog if the Packers win, and vice versa.

You're on :(
