joneo 556 Posted April 20, 2006 I am a County Commissioner and am 3 years into my 4 year term. I announced last week I was not seeking re-election. In the same newspaper, this guy who has a hard on for me, wrote the following letter: (edit to add: This guy is a retired real estate salesman. He goes to 3/4 of all the meetings. I have stood up to his nonsense before and disagreed with him. He is always right.) Let the drum beat begin I’m amused by Commissioner Joneo's (3/28/06 board meeting) prattle and pre-election rhetoric suggesting that “There’s a perception that we (County board of commissioners) hide the budget process from taxpayers and everyone is welcome to the budget system.” Ya, you bet – as long as you sit in your corner to be seen and not heard. Try entering into debate with these wizards of finance over reducing the size of government, government programs, spending and taxes and see how welcome you are. The fact of the matter is as long as you’re there asking for more government and agree with their already preconceived budget increases, which always translate to higher taxes, you’re a good constituent. Don’t question too deeply or ask why because deep thought is not an essential attribute or requirement in formulating the County budget – the administrator feeds the commissioners all they need to know. After all, Commissioner Joneo for one has openly admitted he is “not a numbers man,” yet feels qualified to approve how to spend our money and increase our taxes. At least three of the imperial five couldn’t care less what the taxpaying citizens thinks unless it creates more government and holds up to County’s standard of the “welfare state.” The fact of the matter is the 2007 preliminary budget has already been formulated and will surely increase through the sham process beginning May 16. Unless one has sat through several of these annual show and tell escapades, the built-in complexities will overwhelm you as they do most of the board. You can bet the managers and other recipients will set the numbers straight and convince the blurry-eyed elected officials that every increase is necessary and deserved. These commissioners are not willing to address the issues raised before them by concerned taxpayers – issues such as the Conservation Center which has made a dupe of every taxpaying citizens in this county. We have all been lied to regarding the county’s official position and fiscal responsibility in this matter. Yet, these commissioners, contrary to rhetorical hogwash by two commissioners opposing deeper involvement, have moved ahead to fund this dead horse and absorb the annual deficit spending which is not and should not be the responsibility of the taxpayers of this county. This commitment will only be the beginning of a continual hemorrhaging of taxpayer dollars. For whom? These commissioners are not willing to shut down absolutely non-essential tax-sucking county positions such as the Economic Development czar and Human Resources magistrate for starters. The fact of the matter is there is no “budget system” any longer. It’s whatever the taxpaying citizens will sit still for. Proliferate government, huge across-the-board county employee salary and benefit increases, welfare expansion, increased funding for every group supporting the welfare standard, redistributing wealth, puff themselves up on do-gooder power and promote their own agenda. That’s what this bunch presides over. We have a chance for a revolution come this November – the ballot box – let’s get it right this time! Let the drumbeat begin. MicktheGreat 1 Posted April 20, 2006 Dear Sir, I am greatly grieved to hear your latest complaints against my office. I have long since considered you a vital part of our community and have attempted (to the best of my abilities) to judicioulsy listen to any criticism that you may have had, as well as any criticism from any other citizen of our fine county. However, I must respectfully disagree with the sentiments expressed in your most recent letter. I can assure you that we have the best people available working on the problems of our county, and I can also assure you that I (personally) have been working tirelessly to bring our county in-step with our future goals--into the image that we all (every citizen) believe that it can one day be. And yet, despite your unwarranted criticism, I am glad that we live in a country in which we can openly disagree and still work together in hopes of a better tomorrow. Sincerely, Joneo P.S. I slept with your wife. P.P.S. POW VEAL!!!

joneo 556 Posted April 20, 2006 You forgot to include the P.S. Very good, especially with the ps's. The truth be told, he is a tool. I have confronted him on a few occassions in public (small crowd of 3 or 4) on his behavior and disregard for meeting procedures. He feels it is Americas and can interupt and try to control our public meetings. When I put him in his place, he cries "the Commissioners fon't want to listen. They don't care. Blah blah blah..." He feels it is Americas and can interupt and try to control our public meetings. I represent landowners and developers before city & county commissions. In one town I do a lot of work in, there is this guy who'd show up at every meeting doing the same thing: speaking from the audience, showing no courtesy to people speaking at the podium or on the dias, etc. He's a retiree with nothing to do but mind others' business. He was being a real pain in the a$$ on this one project so I got my client to pay for a background check on the guy. Turns out he had a concealed weapons permit. I forwarded that info to the local police as they provide a security detail at the commission meetings. He had been warned that he would be removed from a meeting if he disrupted anymore commission meetings. Sure enough, at the next meeting, the mayor ordered him removed after an outburst. Once outside, he was patted down and arrested after they found a firearm, as it was violation of local ordinance to carry a weapon into the commission chambers. And my project got passed!
