LSUtiger 9 Posted April 25, 2006 Vikes miss a pick? Millen takes another WR? There have been some classic draft day blunders - make your prediction for the 2006 NFL draft... Hopefully not my Saints. While we've had our fair share of forgettable drafts, I think Sean Payton and Co. will turn things around for us this year. We've had some nice DE picks (Will Smith, Charles Grant, Darren Howard, etc.) but some recent not-so-lucky drafts (Jonathan Sullivan #6 overall, Donte Stallworth, etc.). Jammal Brown was a nice pick for us last year and has become an instant starter. Josh Bullocks in the 2nd rd. has proven decent as he emerged as a starter late last season... I still think we need another OT but we also need a MLB and DT badly - and another CB and Center to a lesser extent. If the staff feels that Jammal Brown can slide from RT to LT (current ongoing project) and if they are confident John Stichcomb (former 2nd rd guy in his 4th year) can play RT, they may as well pass on D'Brick and trade back for Hawk or something else. Although I find it very hard to pass on D'Brick...

Lions Packers Bears Browns Panthers Judging a team by number of games player per pick is questionable at best. Using that criteria, you could call Joey Harrington and David Carr good picks. Their own Washington Redskins will get positive credit for drafing a doofus like Patrick Ramsey, while a guy like Phillip Rivers would count as a bad draft pick when we haven't even seen him play. If you want to go by results, the 3 worst drafters are the Lions, Cardinals, and Saints. And it's not even close...
Eriadoc 4 Posted April 25, 2006 The Texans have only had four drafts, so there's not much history to draw upon. Well, there's Charlie Casserley's draft history, but we try not to go there. They've typically done well in the first round (Carr, AJ, D-Rob, Travis Johnson), but beyond that, they haven't picked many winners. So I'm predicting a bust at 2.1 and 3.1 this year. Although, if Dan Reeves is heavily involved in the draft process, I could be wrong. :hopeful:

Lions Packers Bears Browns Panthers an interesting concept, if not entertaining, but i'm not sure how much value the approach has. for example, there is only a 1.6 games-per-season average separating the #1 "best" draft and the bottom rung of the "worst" draft. mdubz 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Millen takes another WR? each year we say this jokingly and each year he continues to do so ...when will the madness stop?
DrJ 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Millen takes another WR? Whether a WR or not, it is guaranteed that almost every pick he makes from top to bottom will completely suck. You'd have to figure the law of averages would come into play at some point, and he'd just luck into a solid player, but apparantly he's too stupid for even that. Trainer1 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Don't be surprised if Saints draft V. Young. You heard it first right here.

themorey 1 Posted April 26, 2006 My guess is the Texans draft George Bush with the #1 pick and only realize their mistake when the Jets take Reggie Bush at #4. Meanwhile W. rides the pine all season.

swamp dog 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Most people wait for the guys to actually hit the field before labeling the a bust. Not welchdog! But hey, I can see why, his predictions have always worked out so well in the past. when your drafted player goes out two days after being drafted and beats an innocent man unconscious, your scouts have focked up big-time. sorry, that is the definition of a bust. Yeah, they'd be a lot better off with a fat, lazy TE. as opposed to a lazy rb who made the bears starting rb fire his agent and hire rosenhaus? yep, you bet the bears would have been much better with a player like you describe--much more even a mike williams
DrJ 0 Posted April 26, 2006 when your drafted player goes out two days after being drafted and beats an innocent man unconscious, your scouts have focked up big-time. sorry, that is the definition of a bust. I've actually asked them to give you a call so they can tap into your amazing powers of foresight. Maybe you can help them make some predictions. But hey, if this is the definition of bust, I'd like to know what you would call a GM who takes a guy after he fails a drug test. With the 2nd pick in the draft no less. Oh wait, we already know the answer to that - GENIUS!!!!!
