Fervid Ro 0 Posted May 17, 2006 cliffnotes - muhammad made an ass out of himself for 4 pages..... I can't help but admire someone who will stand by what they say because they view arguing as an art form. and it is true that we don't treat illegals as criminals- we just send them back. is it a crime? yes. but our government is making a habit out of ignoring the law these days. all the man did was kinda mispeak, and then decide to see if he could argue the point anyway. since I didn't read the whole thread, I don't know. But didn't he admit that it actually is a crime, they just dont' treat it as such? what never fails to amaze me is you people who get so worked up over my husband. LOL If anyone else had said what he said you would have just ignored him and moved on. But torridjoe says one little thing and people go nuts. If someone says something you don't agree with I mean, really why bother any further? regardless-I love my torridjoe!!
VikesNation 0 Posted May 17, 2006 what never fails to amaze me is you people who get so worked up over my husband. It might have something to do with the hairsplitting semantics and slight changes in his position based on whatever argument you throw back at him.
Toro 3 Posted May 17, 2006 and it is true that we don't treat illegals as criminals- we just send them back. WRONG!!!! They are convicted and sentenced to deportation. HTH.
Fervid Ro 0 Posted May 17, 2006 It might have something to do with the hairsplitting semantics and slight changes in his position based on whatever argument you throw back at him. he never tires. which when it comes to other things he is passionate about is a wonderful thing. if only his passions included home maintenance and hard work... stand by your man WRONG!!!! They are convicted and sentenced to deportation. HTH. sentenced to deportation? how ironic that people commit crimes and then head for the border ASAP. PLEEEEAAASE don't throw me in that briar patch...

If someone says something you don't agree with I mean, really why bother any further? regardless-I love my torridjoe!! Trust me noone here is getting "worked up" over anything he says. We've all gotten over trying to have an intelligent conversation with the man. His circular reasoning, semantics, refusal to admit when he's wrong, and backpedaling got tired a long time ago. People just love showing him how bad his arguments are. It's very entertaining. Like watching Timmy on South Park
Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted May 17, 2006 WRONG!!!! They are convicted and sentenced to deportation. HTH. I think that we have shown that most people stopped at the border do not go through a deportation process, but the people caught within the US by other authorities ARE convicted and deported under our Immigration Laws. Fervid Ro 0 Posted May 17, 2006 OMG- Strike-- you are one of the worst. You've given him special little names and such, you will go on page after page. you seem to get awfully angry for someone who is "entertained." I think that we have shown that most people stopped at the border do not go through a deportation process, but the people caught within the US by other authorities ARE convicted and deported under our Immigration Laws. so then the details of law and government are tedious- perhaps complex. Maybe you need Torridjoe on that wall to challenge what really is and is not to figure out just exactly what the policy is or is not. any way you slice it-- torrid makes people think. Fervid Ro 0 Posted May 17, 2006 People look stuff up to see what the real answer, policy, comment, etc is or is not. That is what I mean when I say think. Perhaps research is a better term. People will ask for the link, so they're looking into issues... My notion is that torrid really doesn't care what your postion is, it 's that you care enough to have an opinion at all. And that you'll defend your position if challenged. I shouldn't speak for him. because "torrid the persona" is different from "Mark Bunster the man." But I think he likes the fact that people are looking into policy or thinking about how their government is run... i believe that's why he does what he does-- to stir things up. and sometimes it works. I think we can afford a little stupidity and an ass beating if it makes people go on the record about what their opinion is or is not. The geek club is a barometer of sorts. Torrid can get his finger on the pulse of what some conservatives out there are thinking without having to stay in the hospital afterwards. he doesn't hate our country. He doesn't believe that the president is doing a good job and he''ll say so. now what other country can you do that more fully than ours?? I'd say he LOVES this country. that's why it's been so painful to watch DUBYA run it into the ground.
Strike 6,024 Posted May 17, 2006 I'd say he LOVES this country. He can't love our country when he endorses our gov't giving intelligence on it's own citizens to a foreign gov't that puts those citizens at risk of injury or death. And you're right, you shouldn't speak for him. You're too rational.

Patriotsfatboy1 1,433 Posted May 17, 2006 so then the details of law and government are tedious- perhaps complex. Maybe you need Torridjoe on that wall to challenge what really is and is not to figure out just exactly what the policy is or is not.any way you slice it-- torrid makes people think. I believe that torrid has a passion for politics. He clearly has a liberal slant to his views (understatement?) and I can appreciate that. I also appreciate the conservative slant to some folks on the other side (RP, fastfish). However, the problem in this thread (and perhaps a few others) is that torrid was so focused on not admitting that he was wrong, that he changed his viewpoints to meet the backpedaling needs of his "argument". This is the very thing that torrid has complained has been the hypocrisy of his conservative counterparts in debate. Getting people to think is a good thing, but it is probably more important to have those conversations lead to something rather than beating a dead-horse. That also goes for the people who are swung so far to the right so as to not see the forest for the trees.

AirRam 3 Posted May 17, 2006 Sure it does. It makes it effectively NOT a crime, doesn't it? Would you say you're committing a crime in Amsterdam to light up a spliff? Too lazy to read the entire 7 pages here but wanted to add a correction; it is illegal to possess weed in certain quantities in Amsterdam but not illegal to smoke it. Weird, huh? Also, prostitution is not illegal at one particular place outside of Amsterdam's city limits. Its called the Bus Stop. myfamilylivedinAmsterdamforsevenyears Carry on. Jules: Okay, so tell me again about the hash bars. Vincent: Okay, so what'cha want to know? Jules: Hash is legal there, right? Vincent: It's legal, but it ain't a hundred percent legal. I mean you can't walk into a restaurant, roll a joint, and start puffin' away. I mean, they want you to smoke in your home or certain designated places. Jules: And those are hash bars? Vincent: Yeah, it breaks down like this: okay, it's legal to buy it, it's legal to own it and, if you're the proprietor of a hash bar, it's legal to sell it. It's illegal to carry it, but, but - but that doesn't matter 'cause -- get a load of this, alright -- if you get stopped by a cop in Amsterdam, it's illegal for them to search you. I mean that's a right the cops in Amsterdam don't have. Jules: Oh, man, I'm goin', that's all there is to it -- I'm fockin' goin'.

It's a technicality. why we can't all admit that I don't know. torro-- I said it was a crime- they are just not putting people in jail for it. They are not taking away your right to leave your house or charge your fines (illegals can't pay). and how ironic the comment about "being o.k. with listening in on phone calls meaning that you love your country" it is against the law. personally I dont' care if someone listens to my phone calls.
