I decided on the HDTV I'm going to get.

Yeah, I know. I should wait another 12 months and it will be cheaper. :first:

You should try Best Buy :first:

Hah.

I wouldn't buy a donut from that place, if it was the last immigrant grocer on earth.

I don't think they sell donuts. They mainly sell electronics. HTH

Have you seen this particular make somewhere in person? Hope so. I could never buy anything like that without seeing it for myself. Looks really nice though.

I usually go by customer reviews.

I recently stopped by the tv department while shopping. (I was checking to see if the $400 tv I bought last year had gotten any cheaper... it hadn't.)

In any case, they had like 10 different types of flat screens all running the same program. With them all lined up like that, it made it easy to see the difference. And I noticed that on some screens, the person's face looked extra skinny - like the image was being squeezed to fit the screen, and on others the face looked fat like the image was being stretched to fit the screen. There were a couple of them that looked just right.

Whenever I finally do buy a flat screen, I think I'd like to compare it with others just like that.

i'd go to www.pricegrabber.com or www.mysimon.com before you make the final purchase. i've bought both my plasma and big screen projection TV there and saved buncha cash.

btw, what made you decide on that brand? i'd be scared to buy any brand i haven't heard of.

37" is pretty small for an hdtv. If you are going to shell out the bucks for an hdtv, i would make it at least a 52" screen.

I've had a 27" Olevia for almost a year now, and have never regretted buying it.

32 to 42 inches, black cabinet, around 1k, flat screen, under 100 lbs, HDTV Tuner Inside, HDMI Connection, 8ms response time or lower.

I don't want DLP and 52 inches is too big.

i'm going to use this as my computer monitor when I buy another tv in a couple years

I had dish network, i'm getting comcast, but I might switch to direct tv before football season.

If you wait, it will eventually be cheaper. :)

and when it is, I'll get something bigger and use this as my computer monitor. Thanks for looking out for me.

I currently have a 27 inch TV I bought in 1997. Anything will seem big compared to it.

I've looked at Plasma's a few times now (what guy hasn't) but I am waiting until we move before I buy one.

I will tell you this though, when I finally do buy one it will probably be a Pioneer.

I have seen it at a couple of different stores now that the Pioneer looks better than all the rest.

LG came close in one store and a Samsung believe it or not in another. Jaggies were far and away the least noticable on the Pioneer screen and looked fabulous.

Thanks for the words.

Again, this "TV" is going to end up being my monitor for my PC. It's just going to be my "TV" for the time being.

As mentioned, 37" is small

The picture quality will be pretty mediocre

Have fun with blown pixels

I'm guessing it doesn't make it to becoming your monitor

Other than that, nice TV

Please explain. I have DirecTV.

in order to get HD programming for directv you need an HD reciever that includes an over the air HD tuner. so there's no real point in paying extra for a TV that has a built in tuner.
