Boston 0 Posted July 27, 2006 Injuries are always easy to forget in the offseason when everyone is healthy and in "the best shape of their life." Yet, they're a fact of NFL life and how a team responds to them will usually dictate how their season goes.

akaoni 0 Posted July 27, 2006 That sucks! Bently's additon was one of the reasons I was thinking that the Browns would be an improved team this year. If he misses significant time, I'll have to reassess my rankings of Cleveland players...

IMO, this may apply to teams like the Pats, but not to the Browns who were in a mini rebuilding mode. good for him....thats what he gets for screwing philly over. Boston 0 Posted July 27, 2006 IMO, this may apply to teams like the Pats, but not to the Browns who were in a mini rebuilding mode. Disagree...it applies to everyone. For a team like Cleveland that's trying to set a new tone it's just as important. It may not mean the difference between making the playoffs or not but it definetly applies to getting to the next level which is what they're trying to accomplish. If they're going to get out of the funk they've been in dealing with adversity will be a big part of it. If their season totally falls apart due to injuries than it's just that much more difficult to shake the doldrums of the past few seasons.

mggoilers 0 Posted July 27, 2006 It is just a center..no big deal. Ask the Cowboys about that...you need a solid center when you are facing 3 teams in your division who run a 3-4. Maroon
murf74 461 Posted July 27, 2006 It is just a center..no big deal. Not if you read all the new hype on Droughns, Bentley was going to single handedly get Droughns double digit TDs. Centers are extremely important to an offense. They are the QB to the offensive line. They make all the blocking calls. And Cleveland traded Faine so they will most likely need to move a guard to center and that trickle effect will hurt the oline bad if Bentley is out for the year. I actually feel bad for Browns fans, they cannot catch a break with their team. If it not for bad luck they would have no luck at all.

RamslovaMartzhata 3 Posted July 27, 2006 R Droughns stock = DOOOWWWNNNNN Down from where it was before Bentley's injury, but I still so no reason why he can't duplicate his numbers last year. It's a shame though... I figured Bentley would at least help get Reuben a couple more TD's and help solve the Browns horrific red zone performance. It is just a center..no big deal. He's one of the best centers in the league. It makes a difference.

mggoilers 0 Posted July 27, 2006 Giants and Eagles both run a 4-3...Dont let facts get in the way of your argument...I dont know what the Skins Run....Maroon My point was the Cowboys haven't had a center in a few years and it has hurt them a lot. all the blitzes they face come right up the middle. Bentley plays for the Browns, and the Browns play 3 division opponents who run a 3-4. Center is very important, they make all the line calls, and he is the first guy standing between a QB and a defense.
JetsFan28 0 Posted July 27, 2006 Believe me, the center is a big part of the team. Thankfully, we replaced Mawae with Mangold, who can hopefully fill that void left by Mawae and do some big things.

Querymeisters 0 Posted July 27, 2006 good for him....thats what he gets for screwing philly over. Bentley did not screw Philadelphia over. His first choice was always Cleveland. He is from Ohio. Mack 1 6 Posted July 27, 2006 Browns HC Crennel updates C Bentley condition 7/27/2006 Browns head coach Romeo Crennel addressed the media after the morning session of training camp on Thursday, and one of the topics of conversation was injuries. Browns center LeCharles Bentley was taken off the practice field Thursday morning after suffering a knee injury during a team drill. Crennel said Bentley "twisted his knee" and was taken to the hospital for an MRI. The Browns are awaiting results of the MRI later today. Crennel said offering anything about Bentley's status "would be speculation on my part. I'll wait until after the doctor reads (the MRI)." Bentley suffered the injury on one of the first plays during team drills. The players were dressed in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts for Tuesday morning's practice. "I don't know what happened," Crennel said. "It was an outside running play and I saw some people on the ground so I started blowing the whistle right away. But I didn't see what happened." Bob Hallen replaced Bentley at center with the first-team offense. A two-time Pro Bowler and Cleveland native, Bentley was one of the Browns' highest-profile free-agent pickups this spring. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com

The Next Generation 11 Posted July 27, 2006 Browns: Bentley may be done for the year The News A source close to Browns center LeCharles Bentley told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that it appears Bentley will miss the entire 2006 season after tearing the patellar tendon in his left knee during the team's first practice of training camp. The Browns have not confirmed the injury, but GM Phil Savage is scheduled to address the media prior to the team's afternoon practice. Our View This is devastating news for the Browns, who appeared to be turning the corner towards respectability after an active offseason. And it's even worse news for Reuben Droughns, who will see the bottom fall out of his fantasy value without the Pro Bowl center opening holes for him. Mack 1 6 Posted July 28, 2006 Man, the Browns have got to be the unluckiest, snake-bit team this side of the Lions. First round pick after first round pick is either a stiff or gets injured. It'd suck to be even a casual observer of that franchise.

PTAKBuCS 0 Posted July 28, 2006 As a Browns fan I'm not surprised. They actually had a great off-season, great draft, and alot of excitement heading into the season. I suppose God needed to remind us that we cheer for the Cleveland Browns. Why else would the BEST player on the team get hurt on the FIRST PLAY on the FIRST DAY of practice? It's not even August yet and that sinking feeling of being a Browns fan is already there. Oh joy. I look forward to Casey Hampton steam rolling Bob Halan and hitting Droughns 5 yards in the backfield this year. There is always next year, right? Rothlis-beer-ger slams his head off the asphalt doing 55 mph and all he has to show for it is a lazy eye and a third chin. How is that fair? I'm sick.
