10 Foods You Should Never Eat

 

This is about the only one that surprised me:

 

Interested in a Chipotle Chicken Burrito (tortilla, rice, pinto beans, cheese, chicken, sour cream, and salsa)? Think of its 1,180 calories and 19 grams of saturated fat as three 6-inch Subway Steak and Cheese Subs. Getting the burrito with no cheese or sour cream cuts the saturated fat by two-thirds, but you still end up with 950 calories. Yikes!

I know it's terrible for me, but I have a Burger King Triple Stacker every other week. Only fast food I eat, but it's sooooooooooooooo good.

I think many fat people eat fast food, but eat it to excess, and the excess is at least as much of a factor as the quality of the food. Spurlock made it a point to eat a ridiculous amount of the least healthy offerings available to try and make himself sick, and he succeeded. Shocker.

fat people dont go to a fast food joint and eat the healthy versions. trust me, I work in an office with 3 fat focks and all they do is drink cafe lattes, pound multiple value meals and munch on snacks all day

Yeah, fat people like to eat. Not exactly a newsflash there. That's more an indictment of the people than the food. :wub:

 

Fast food in general is not very good food, but it's really not all that much worse than a lot of processed foods sold at your grocery store and certainly not the poison an opportunist like Spurlock would have you believe it is either. That's all I'm saying.

Actually, if you'd watched the movie, you'd know better. Spurlock laid down concrete rules: Eat one of everything on the menu - including the healthy stuff. And only 'supersize' if they ask. By those rules, he probably ate healthier than most who only consume say, the Double QP with Cheese every day.

I dunno, man...

 

Spurlock ate it for all threee meals/day, which seems extreme, but I've known people who did that kind of thing.

 

He also made a point to eat each item on the menu at least once and never supersized his order unless the cashier asked him if he wanted to do it.

 

It's not as if he was ordering multiple value meals/sitting either (another disgusting thing that I have witnesses the crapper busting fatties of our nation do from time to time.)

 

Furthermore, if you recall, even the doctors he was going to were SHOCKED at how it focked him up. The damage to his liver alone was akin to that of a longtime alcoholic.

I've said it before, if you had to blame ONE thing (which is spurious on its own), it's portion size. Whether it's fast food or a sit down restaurant, portion sizes have skyrocketed just in the last 10-15 years. From birth we're trained to do two things: 1) Clean your plate and 2) Not waste money. Combine that with restaurants serving ginormous portions, and you're headed for disaster.

I'm glad Spurfock got screwed up. That movie was retarded and it didn't teach anything. What, fast food is bad for you, and eating it constantly screws up your body? Well that's a real brainbsuter.

 

Spurfock is a glory craving idiot who risked his health to make a movie. I wish he had died so he could have been a shoo-in for the Darwin award.

That said, his rules are tripe; eating at least one of everything over the course of a month doesn't exactly disprove that he ate disproportionally of the worst stuff, i.e. burgers and fries. And the whole "Only Supersize if they ask..." thing is even deeper bullshit. Unless they're playing some Jedi mind trick when they ask (as they are trained to do) it's still the customer's choice whether to supersize or not to supersize.

 

My understanding - not having seen the movie - is that he ate 5000+ calories a day of crapass processed food and engaged in no physical activity. I weep for anyone who's actually surprised he got fat under those circumstances.

I don't need to see this movie to tell me companies using advertising to try and sell me, or my kids, stuff. :dunno:

 

If you eat fast food, or allow your kids to eat fast food, it's because you choose to eat fast food, not because the evil McDonald's corporation made you eat fast food.

 

I will concede that some good came from the movie in that it probably did get some people think twice before grabbing that Value Meal for lunch. But the hysteria over how poisonous it is a little... uh... hysterical.

I think you should see the movie...I truly believe that it will open your eyes to some things. I'm not saying that you will come to some great revelation about the fast food industry, but I think that you will be shocked and suprised by some of the things you see and hear.

 

First, you should know that he was in pretty good shape and ate VERY healthy prior to the experiment (his girlfriend/fiance is/was some kind of organic/healthy cooking chef.) To see how quickly his body and health went into a downward spiral was crazy.

 

Also, when you would see the jars full of sugar that his body had consumed...when you are shown how many of the "healthy" items on the menu were, in fact, just as bad as the traditional items...when you see the physicians he was seeing on a regular basis plead w/him to stop the experiment early b/c of his test results...you will be shocked. It wasn't just that he got fat. He began to sustain serious damage to some of his internal organs...one doctor compared his liver to that of a longtime alcoholic...after a few weeks of eating this food.

 

Like most people, I already knew that fast food was bad for you. I ate it anyway. Not 3 times/day every day for a month, but I prolly ate it for lunch once or twice a week. After watching this movie I prolly didn't eat any of that crap for a few months. Even now, I'd say I eat fast food maybe once or twice/month...and usually that's only if I'm somewhere where there aren't many alternatives (like a rest stop or an airport.)

Don't you think this was maybe part of the reason he had such a dramatic reaction to the sudden infusion of massive amounts of fatty processed foods for which his body had zero tolerance?

Yes, I'm sure it had some effect. Unfortunately, it wasn't an experiment held in a lab where all variables could be controlled. However, I think for the purposes of the experiment (to gague the effect of a fast food diet on the body) having someone who ate healthy before is prefereable to having someone who was not the most healthy eater going into the study.

 

I'm no scientist (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night ;) )...but the metabolism/body of a 20-something is different than that of a grown man. I know that I used to be able to eat all kinds of crap in college that would put me on the toilet for hours now as an adult.

It wasn't so much watching him eat the food and get fat as it was to go to the doctor w/him and see the test results or to go to the nutritionist who had a giant jar of sugar or fat to visibly show how much garbage he was taking in...that kind of stuff. I'd bet that going w/your imaginary drunk to the doctor to see what kind of shape his liver is in would have greater relevance than watching him puke on the sidewalk. :doh:

 

As I said...I think it's only fair for you to watch the movie first and then form your opinion.

I think its crazy how many calories are packed into a regular burger. If you get a whopper with no cheese it has 670 calories. Then you think about whats on the burger. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, beef, mayo, ketchup, and bread. The lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, ketchup have a combined 25 calories, with ketchup being responsible for 15 of them. Thats 645 calories in 3 things, bread, mayo, and beef. The beef patty has 230 calories which is ridiculous. For a patty that small to have that many calories means its sh1t beef. If you get extra lean ( fat % < 4%) you can make a patty about 3 times the size of those and get the same calories. The bread has 240 and mayo has 160. That means sh1tty over processed bread and we all know mayo is bad.

 

So its not necessarily just the calorie content. Its the fact that the food is horrible. The quality of food is the worst thing about it. Thats 670 without cheese, soda, and fries. Those double doubles at mcdonalds have like 460 calories. Then you wonder how they can sell em for a buck. I wonder how much of the meat is actual beef. Who knows what gets mixed in there.

Unless you're suicidal, why on earth would you want to wolf down a Burger King Quad Stacker – 4 hamburger patties, 4 slices of cheese, 8 strips of bacon, plus sauce and a bun? That's half-a-day's calories (1,000), one-and-a-half-days' worth of saturated fat (30 grams), 3 grams of trans fat, and more than a day's sodium (1,800 mg). Urp!

Were the foods on this list supposed to surprised anyone as being bad? If you don't know that a burger from Burger King with 4 patties, 4 slices of chees, and 8 strips of bacon is bad for you, well I think you've got bigger problems than your sh*tty diet.

this was THE point, but the food has this effect on all people, when you eat clean and go dirty, you see/feel the effects.

 

when you are fat and eat dirty, it has the same effect, you just dont realize it. which is not a good thing
