wiffleball 4,789 Posted February 28, 2007 Official: Ravens released Jamal Lewis. Sounds like they want him back and just did it for salary/bonus reasons. Think he'll stick with BAL, Go elsewhere, or be done?

p.man 7 Posted March 1, 2007 I'd like to see him play for the Jets next season. About a month or so ago there was talk of the Jets bringing in C.Brown and J.Lewis for an interview. Maybe this is what the Jets were waiting for. His release. This would only be a temporary fill in.

Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted March 1, 2007 The Pats would probably be interested. He could be a nice piece to a puzzle if he could handle being second fiddle to Maroney. They would feel much better giving him money than Dillon at this point in their careers and given their age. If we are going to take on a problem child, I would much rather see it being Lewis than Randy Moss.

Is this the same Jamal Lewis that says he needs 25 touches a game to get in the groove you see as a good second fiddle?

Things change as you get closer to the end of your career. This is especially true when you consider that he is a RB who is probably not capable of carrying the rock 25 times a game like he used to. I don't know that he is ready to admit that, but we can hope, can't we?

I don't know that he is ready to admit that, but we can hope, can't we? I don't think the 25 carries was an ego thing ... I think it is actually because he is an old school pound it out runner wo needs a lot of carries to get a feel for the game flow and to ear the defense down. I don't have the time or energy to look it up, but he was pretty poor in the first half of the season last year ... only salvaged the season when Billick increased his carries. besides, i don't think lewis fits the pats system very well ... we'd have to line up tight and basically commit to the run ... he does not have the individual explosiveness any more to do what maroney and dillon can do. I'd rather see them sign rhodes, davenport, or buckhalter as a #2.
BiPolarBear 485 Posted March 1, 2007 I don't care where he plays as long as he plays. I need some dumba$$ in my league to draft him so I can 3-peat.

I always have a don't draft denotation on my sheets and he has had it for a while now.

Also, after watching the Pats last season I don't recall Dillon being all that explosive anymore either. Also, the loss of Graham will hurt the running game too. OK, here are the stats from this past year, using avg for 1 -10 carries (since a #2 runner): Rhodes: 3.5 ypc, 7.0 yp recpt Lewis: 3.7 ypc, 6.4 yp recpt Davenport: 4.0 ypc, 12.9 yp recpt Buckhalter: 4.1, 10.7 yp recpt Dillon: 4.2 ypc, 9.8 yp recpt Didn't realize Rhodes was so poor ... don't really want him OR lewis at those numbers which are strikingly similar to what Patrick Pass did prior to his injuries this past year.
