That's actually not terrible...Porter is a guy with definite upside. Raiders aren't dealing him though. They want to rehab him. And I'm kind of interested in what's on the board at 11 before entertaining any offers.

I propose we aim for Monday, March 26th as the start of this mock. That will put us roughly a month from the real deal and still allow for a few weeks for free agent signings, trades, etc. to settle down. As well as allowing for the remaining unclaimed teams to fill out.

 

 

Also, trades should be a no-no. I'm sure they will happen in real life, but it will create chaos on the board. Just my .02

Damn, that's more than 2 weeks from now; some people may forget that they even signed up for it.

While there WILL be trades in the actual draft, trades in a mock draft have way too much potential to confuse everyone...

2. Three Rounds

I think three rounds would good as it would give everyone an idea of what particular team-needs are, as most teams have at least 2-3 needs that can be addressed during the draft. Anything more than three rounds, and I think we'll lose too many people and never get finished...

3. Time Limit

There should be some guidelines as to how long each team has to pick. There should also probably be a time in which drafting stops for the day (say...after 9 p.m. CST or something). Any suggestions for reasonable time limits???

 

Any other guidelines that would help???

Agree with the first two. I say after three hours have passed, we discuss and make a pick for whatever team is lagging. I wouldn't say people can't draft after 9PM CST, but don't punish anyone for not drafting after that time.

I agree with no trades, but I'd go for only 2 rounds.

 

And I think a 3 hour limit is not enough. Some of us have more freedom and flexibility to troll this site at work than others; I think we could get away with a 6 or 8 hour limit. There will be spots in the draft where it zips by and others where it lulls; everything will even out.

 

As of right now, though, without getting too formal, I'd say:

- no trades

- 2 rounds

- "reasonable" time limit between picks

How about next Monday? Starting it going into the weekend may not get off to a very quick start and that is still one week earlier than I originally proposed....
