rallo 137 Posted April 6, 2007 So will Horford probably horford and that PF from NC... i mean noah has legitimately dropped to like the 6th pick or lower in my eyes (i don't know who is coming straight out of highschool or any foreign picks yet)
Voltaire 5,491 Posted April 6, 2007 China's got a hotshot seven footer entering the draft this year- Yi Jianlian. Fast with good outside shooting. Rather thin but with a mean streak. He play power forward on his CBA team, but the Chinese national team plays him at small forward (yeah seven foot small forward). China is big heavy with Yao Ming and Wang ZhiZhi but Yi's much more fluid than they are.

KSB2424 3,173 Posted April 6, 2007 Voltaire got me interested in the international guys. Here is a list of the top players from what the draft sites and artlicles around the net predict. Jianlian is expected to go in the top 10. The others are projected as possible first round selections. Top Foreign Players 1. Yi Jianlian PF 7-0 230 China 2. Marco Belinelli SG 6-6 200 Italy 3. Rudy Fernandez SG 6-6 172 Spain 4. Marc Gasol C 7-0 270 Spain (Pau's Brother) 5. Tiago Splitter PF 6-11 240 Brazil 6. Nicolas Batum SG 6-8 210 France

JT 137 Posted April 12, 2007 Oden, Conley, Cook are declaring for the draft. Does OSU even make the top 25 now? How is their recruiting class looking? Is that confirmed? Last I heard, none of them had announced their intent. It would be a huge mistake...bordering on cataclysmic...for Conley and Cook. Cook took 2/3 of the season before he showed even the faintest of clues about the college game. The pros could care less about him; he's looking NBDL or the end of a bench square in the eye. Conley has great athletic ability, but not enough basketball skill to dominate the likes of Taequan Green and Lee Humphrey. He shot about 30% from the college 3 pt line and has average-to-below-average size. He won't rack up assist totals in the NBA passing to a 7' guy guarded by 6'9" post players with middle of the road college skill levels. Oden is the #1 pick whenever he goes, so it's hard to argue that he should stay. But my opinion is, without another year of college, his best case scenario NBA career is Dikembe Mutombo. Now, that's not a bad career. I think it's even more likely that he's a slightly better Kwame Brown. He needs to be better conditioned, more consistent offensively, and able to avoid stupid fouls on defense. In high school, big guys can get away with the dumb fouls he committed in college; HS athletes aren't always good enough to take advantage of bad decisions. At the next level, he'll be on the floor for 5 minutes.

KSB2424 3,173 Posted April 19, 2007 Has anybody else of note declared? I think we are still waiting for Oden, B.Wright, and Conley to officially decide. I was reading up a little on this Nicolas Batum guy from France. Supposedly he dominated a recent World Championship game and is now projected as a lottery pick. Dude is only 18 years old. Think Joe Johnson, or a 6-7 Tony Parker. Some draft sites have him ahead of Noah. On a side note I am really ashamed at all the teams tanking the season. My Bobcats actually won 6 outta 10 down the stretch and now are only the 9th worst team in NBA due to the obvious tank jobs by the lower third of the league. Something has to be done about this. The kid from France will probably rocket up the charts. Tall guards that can handle the ball are always at a premium. Guys like Parker and Diaw have proven that some of the Frenchies can play. You're absolutely right about teams tanking. There's a fine line between seeing what your young talent can do with an eye toward next year, and throwing games to improve your draft status. The weighted lottery put this to rest for a while, but NBA guys are viewing Oden and Durant as once in 25 year type players. I guess that blurs the line on their judgement a bit. KSB2424 3,173 Posted April 25, 2007 It looks like there are gonna be other teams that are hit extremely hard by early entrants besides Florida; Ohio St. (Oden,Conley,Cook) Georgia Tech (Young,Crittenton), G-Town (Hibbert, Green) and there are rumors that Brandon Rush may go pro along with J.Wright from Kansas. KSB2424 3,173 Posted May 22, 2007 Whoohoo! The draft lottery is tonight. Here's to the ping pong balls falling the Bobcats way. :crossesfingers: Does anyone else get the feeling that Boston will get the #1 pick? I can envision Oden with a Celtic jersey on looking just like Bill Russell. This WILL happen. David Stern will make it so, ala Ewing to the Knicks. Speaking of the lottery is looks like the top 10 is pretty much set at this point. The only wildcard is the Hawks whom need a PG and might reach to get Mike Conley depending on where they end up in the lotto. 1. Oden 2. Durant 3. B.Wright 4. Horford 5. Yi Jianlian 6. Corey Brewer 7. Roy Hibbert 8. Joakim Noah 9. Jeff Green 10. Julian Wright

KSB2424 3,173 Posted May 22, 2007 damn, suns getting the 4th pick. Who in the top 10 can fit into their run and gun offense though? As much as I dislike Noah, to be a "big man" he would fit well on the Suns if you ask me. He can get up and down and would not need the ball to make an impact. Also, they obviously need to get better defensively so Brewer would be a good pick as well IMO. ETA: and remember they could still have a shot at the #1 or #2 pick as well. The lottery hasn't been drawn as of yet, they are just projected as the fourth pick.

Byars41 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Don't you guys have Andre Miller? I woulda guessed you wanted a big man? Yes but Andre Miller is 31 years old. Conley is 19. He can learn the ropes from A.Miller before taking over full-time (I believe A.Miller is under contract for 2 more years). I just want the best player they can get and aside from the Big 2, Conley is the guy I covet most.
RicemanX 20 Posted May 22, 2007 That Yi JianLian guy is the real deal guys. His videos show that he is a quick 7 footer. And he already has the basics down for a good inside game. Sure he won't be able to do some of the stuff he does on the video in the NBA, but if he is 22 like the Chinese Government say he is, then he will have plenty of time for improvement. Whoever gets him will be getting the future Garnett/Amare (w/o the power...yet) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-nfAJJJV_M http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4970613079836271270 (great highlights, but turn the sound off...the music is kinda ghey
