kcsportsguy 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Barry Sanders as #1 overall. I got a lot of crap because I didn't take Emmitt Smith. I end up later trading Robert Brooks (his breakout year) and another good player for Smith. The trade was purposed to me. I ended up winning the league and some nice cash. Been hooked on Fantasy Football since.

Frankie Valiant 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Holy Cow!....1990 was the year!....(I was 19 years old, and my first and only child was born!)...WOW! I had the 8th overall pick in a 10 team snake draft!...I took Neal Anderson! and my second pick was Art Monk! I also had: Emmit Smith/ Warren Moon/Haywood Jefferies/NY Giants Deff/ who all ended up having great seasons!...especially Moon! I lost in the Championship, and missed the Superbowl by 1 point!....(this was my first season) and I wouldn't make it to my first Superbowl until 98.....of coarse I lost! .............. B_A_Baracus 0 Posted August 17, 2007 2002 - Priest Holmes It was just a Yahoo free league with a few people from a non-football message board. Now that I think of it, I think it was an auto draft.
Getpaddled 0 Posted August 17, 2007 (In 1995) 14 team league I took Herman Moore Detroit Lions WR with the 13th pick in the first round. He had an outstading year with 123 catches 1686 yards 14 TDs no I didnt make the playoffs that year.. I think I had 4 or 5 wins... thats how bad my draft went after him..... Dr. Octopus 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Sadly, I have this beat (also 1996): 1.08 Scott Mitchell It gets worse: Either 2.04 or 3.08 (can't remember which) Edgar Bennett Ahhhhh, the memories.... :sticks head in oven: My WRs were Quinn Early Lawrence Dawsey Willie Davis Chris T. Jones If you said "who" I don't blame you.
ClarkGriswold 0 Posted August 17, 2007 I think my first year may have been Jerry Rice in the early 90's, deciding to take him over Emmitt, which I learned to regret. It was, however, better than the next year when I picked 14/15 and took Jeff Blake and Carl Pickens, wanting both ends of that stellar Benagls combo. Live aqnd learn. LOL. JT 137 Posted August 17, 2007 1997 TD Only league, had the 12-13 in a serpentine draft. Kordell Stewart damn near won the league for me (around 20 passing TD, 10-12 rushing). Obviously, ADP wasn't a big item of discussion then, and I nearly got laughed out of the room. Turned out to be a really good pick. Of course, whoever I took with the #13 blew monkeys, so it kind of offset my momentary brilliance.
Borat33 17 Posted August 17, 2007 Kurt Warner the year after he won MVP. He was good for me but my team sucked.
DBZFan2K 0 Posted August 17, 2007 If I remember correctly, I believe it was Jamal Anderson in 1999. Thank God for having a good draft that saved my butt there.
jmueller44 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Not sure that he was my VERY FIRST pick - may have been 2nd or 3rd .... BUT In Jr High School I had my favorite player ...... 1989 - RB, Raiders ............ ............... Bo Jackson - "Bo Knows" Bo

AnaheimRams 28 Posted August 17, 2007 Wow... great thread... walking down 'ol memory lane. My first was the Rams RB, Cleveland Gary in 1990. I was a Rams fan, and didn't know squat about FF. Turned out he put up some monster TD total that year... 14 or 15 or something. Lucky me. I bet somebody on this board took Lawrence Phillips with their first ever pick... but will they admit it? Jeremy 0 Posted August 17, 2007 My first ever pick was Emmitt Smith. It was the year after he scored a then record 25TDs. I was kind of disappointed that he "only" got me 15 that year. I didn't even have the first pick. I drafted 4th and just about jumped out of my shoes when the first 3 picks were Brett Favre, Steve Young, and...... Scott Mitchell. Yeah, it wasn't the most competitive league in the world.

IndyFan 2 Posted August 18, 2007 Warren Moon - 1st pick in the draft when qb's were weighted heavily and run and shoot was racking up yards and points. Got Barry Foster and Sterling Sharpe with #24 and #
Foghorn Leghorn 0 Posted August 18, 2007 My WRs were Quinn Early Lawrence Dawsey Willie Davis Chris T. Jones If you said "who" I don't blame you. I don't know what's sadder - either of our first drafts, or the fact that I didn't say "who" to any of those four.
daredevil71 0 Posted August 18, 2007 my number one pick in 01 was PEYTON MANNING. Here's the funnier thing: I also drafted Terrell Davis "the day after he retired" because i ran out of time and the system auto-picked him for me. to this day, i have never lived it down in my league. then again, my (denver) homer-picking best friend drafts TONY GONZALES in the second round, and follows it up with "JASON ELAM" with pick number six!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Kickers are important!!!!!!!!!" i remember him yelling. YEAH in REAL football, idiot!

Mr. Landry 29 Posted August 18, 2007 1994 (maybe '95): First round: 1. Steve Young 2. Troy Aikman 3. Emmitt Smith 4. Dan Marino 5. Drew Bledsoe 6. Jerry Rice 7. Marshall Faulk 8. Barry Sanders 9. Natrone Means 10. Chris Warren I took Natrone Means, John Elway and Carl Pickens with my first three picks.
TradeStar28 0 Posted August 18, 2007 1995 was my first year. With the 5th overall pick in a 10 teamer I selected Dan Marino. I had no focking clue what I was doing and I went with back2back cowboys since I am a diehard. Say hello to Michael Irvin in the 2nd Round and Jay Novacek in the 3rd round (to the snickers of the other 9 drafters in some dudes mothers living room)
BatteringRam 0 Posted August 18, 2007 Marshall Faulk in 2000. Drafted him coming off the Rams Super Bowl win. Picked him at #1. Drew the first pick out of a hat. Couldn't believe it when that happened. Knew exactly who I was going to pick right away. Took him and rode his back all the way to the Championship game only to lose. biggtyme13 0 Posted August 18, 2007 Man this thread is great. I miss the days when u went into a draft and had sleepers that nobody has heard of. My specialty was finding those rookie diamonds and break out guys for the team that i helped my step dad manage. Im very proud to say that I nailed alot of picks like. Randy Moss, Corey Dillon, Chad Johnson, Michael Westbrook (80 yard end around on labor day in first game), Domanick Davis, Anquan Boldin, Robert Brooks, Terrell Davis. Man those were the days. Now we live in the times that last year my mom knew who Mike Bell was before the drafts. At least me and alot of other fftoday guys snuck in that Colston pick last year and I did draft Drew in a bunch of leagues. Man I miss waiting by the fax for those sheets to come thru.
