Recliner Pilot 61 Posted October 1, 2007 What Rusty said. I can't remember which Cowboy it was, but back in the early '90's when they were kicking ass and trying to keep players there was one who signed with Oakland (may have been Russel Maryland) for more money over the life of the contract. Thing is, once you figured in the state income tax he was making way less. Then you add the cost of living in the Bay area vs. Dallas and you get one focked up nappy head. I guess agents are paid on the gross amount of the contract.

Voltaire 5,202 Posted October 2, 2007 Michigan had to do something since the budget was out of whack. Almost shutdown the government to do it. This is why I liked the GOP retaining the state senate last year in the Dem hurricane. Divided government forces the parties to compromise so we don't go too crazy one way or the other. The Michigan GOP Senate and the Dems in the house and governors mansion- good setup.

Voltaire 5,202 Posted October 2, 2007 I was just about to ask that. I'm curious for those that said zero what is your sales tax and do you have a service tax? Texas has a huge sales tax to make up for the no income tax. It sucked to be military there because I didn't have to pay state income tax anyways.
Cdub100 3,838 Posted October 2, 2007 In TN our income tax is 0%, but our sales tax I think is around 9% on most items. Looking at this site it says Tenn is 7% and 6% on food http://www.taxadmin.org/FTA/rate/sales.html Not calling you a liar just wondering if there's something I'm missing? Maybe a city or county tax

Maybe a city or county tax They probably have a county tax as well. Illinois has a 6% sales tax with 1% on food. But there is a great discrepancy between the county taxes. Enough of a discrepency where I will drive an extra 20 miles to the next county to purchase a big ticket item.

My state and local sales tax adds up to 8.25%. Most food items are exempt. Auto sales tax is lower, but I'm not sure what it is.

jackie sherrill 0 Posted October 2, 2007 In Mississippi the state income tax I believe (per my check at least) is 3.6%. Mrdirt is right about the changes for cities in TN. Memphis seems to be about 9.5% sales tax. Mississippi sales tax is 6 or 7%. I live in a suburb of Memphrica just across the state line in MS, so we get all the Memphricans invading our fair little town to save the 2.5% sales tax. Let Da Big Dog Eat 40 Posted October 2, 2007 I just left WI. Income tax is 4.6-6.75% (+local). Sales, 5% (5.5 if you live within about 40 miles of Miller Park). Property taxes were about 4%. I am sure I am missing others. A tax hell.

itsjjw 0 Posted October 3, 2007 I live in NY but have no idea how much our state income tax is. But I do know its way to much. Its NY for crying out load. I do know what my work takes out for state taxes about half of what the fed taxes are.

Frankly I'm sure there were lots of things that could have been cut like state scholorships and other wildlife crap. I will say it is kinda nice to be on a flat income tax... not that any tax is nice.

I will say it is kinda nice to be on a flat income tax... not that any tax is nice. For us it will be figuring out excatly what it is going to cost. Since we can't pick up and leave we will pass along the cost to the companies that move gas on our line and they will pass it along to the LDCs and they will pass it along in the cost of the gas going into your home.
