aggiewildlife 0 Posted October 5, 2007 I too was wondering how soon Henry would be out and Selvin in considering the possibility of an appeal process. Regardless, I just added Selvin in both my leagues just in case!
Swagger 0 Posted October 5, 2007 Travis Henry was scheduled to be out of the league's drug program after Week 3. Even though we are almost to week 5 - I'm guessing that the test was taken before Week 3, therefore making him eligible for the year suspension. Test was on or around Sept

daredevil71 0 Posted October 5, 2007 I think this game is very key for Young (assuming Henry does not play). If he does well, you gotta think he will be the main back with Bell spelling him. Bell will become Young pre-10/4/07 is there anyone besides bell @ tailback on the roster?
dreadlocks34 0 Posted October 5, 2007 I just remembered one preseason article on who to keep/avoid that I wrote for sportsrubes.com on August 14. One particular sentence is kind of eerie. Travis Henry, Den - Henry really could have a giant year, especially if you could take the wayback machine to 2003 when Henry was coming off 2 really big injury-free years in Buffalo and Shananan didn’t think that every back on his roster must have a mandatory set of starts during the season. Since then Henry has had three seasons being dinged up and Shananan has become the Darth Vader of fantasy football. Henry had a fairly sold season last year in Tennessee, no doubt. Will Shananan give him the chance to put up Portis numbers or will Selvin Young be starting by week 5? One other thing I will toss in. Henry is notorious for playing with terrible injuries ie broken ribs, broken leg etc. It is fairly common knowledge also that after signing a bad rookie deal that Henry had money issues. After receiving 12 million dollars from the Broncos, will we still see Henry on the field playing with constant ailments now that he is not playing for his big money deal? How lucky do you feel? DamageIncVacc 6 Posted October 5, 2007 Oct. 4, 10:35 p.m. Travis Henry - RB (rank: 6), Denver Henry is in the middle of a legal fight to keep the NFL from using drug test results of a to suspend him, Newsday reports. Henry attempted to get a restraining order in Suffolk County Supreme Court on Sept. 20 to block the NFL from using a urine specimen against him and to stop the league from disclosing the test results. If the test results are upheld he faces a one-year suspension. Fantasy Source spin: Stay tuned. If a suspension sticks with Henry, you'll be left scrambling for another option. He is about as good as it gets at running back. Adding Selvin Young to your roster would be a wise move at the moment

DamageIncVacc 6 Posted October 5, 2007 According to this the apellate court vacated the order so does that mean that unless he wins his appeal he is suspended?? ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Denver Broncos running back Travis Henry, the league's leading rusher, is trying to prevent the NFL from suspending him over the results of a drug test, Newsday reported Thursday. Henry was granted a temporary restraining order in Suffolk County (N.Y.) Supreme Court to prevent the league from using a urine specimen against him and to prevent the league from disclosing the test results, but an appellate court vacated the order, according to court papers filed in Brooklyn federal court. The report on the newspaper's Web site said Henry claims the league violated its substance abuse policy by not allowing his experts to be present for testing of his urine sample, according to court papers. DamageIncVacc 6 Posted October 5, 2007 Before this stupidity from Henry , having the Denver Rb this year ( Henry) was a no brainer. He was leading the lague in yards and getting 20-25 carries a game. Shanny wasnt playing games with Henry like he has in the past with other rb's . Thats not to say he will not with Young. Just saying that Henry was a #1 back and a great start every game this year. I also have to say how great is the RB position in Denver . Last year before he was injured Tatum Bell was the leading rusher in the nfl . If Selvin young gets then main job (20 carries a game) he will be a #1 back. He is also a good pass cathcer then hnry was and would be ideal in a PPR league alo. PatrickT 0 Posted October 5, 2007 With Bell injured, and questionable for this week, I would think Sapp is the immediate backup there. Especially since Bell was actually the backup fullback. Sapp was the expected candidate for the number two job there til young beat him out. Bell (concussion) returned to practice Wednesday, the Denver Post reports. Spin: Bell said he is still unsure whether he will play Sunday as the team's backup fullback.

Foghorn Leghorn 0 Posted October 5, 2007 Just to recap: Henry was going to rotate out of the substance abuse program after September 24th. He tested positive on (or around) September 20th. Einstein, he isn't. Thanks Geo - that answers my previous question. The obvious difference here being Selvin Young was obtained by every person who has him by a late round flier or pick up and anything you get from him is a complete bonus. Henry was most likely taken within the first 2 rounds and a complete waste. That's fine and I agree with you Dreadlocks, but the crippling part about this situation (to me) will be if you start Young a given week and he puts up a big ZERO while Mike Bell or Sapp or whoever gets the carries. Shanahan is notorious for this when he doesn't have a proven back. That being said.... Yeah, well we some of us don't have the luxury of playing in 8 team leagues where RBs are easy to come by. Sincerely, A bitter Henry owner -I think I did this once before? oh yeah, with steven jackson I wish that were the case, mec411. I'm in a 12-team league and my normal starters are SJax and Cadillac, so if anyone needs to take a chance on Young it's me. Unfortunately, I can't try for him until after Week 6 due to our peculiar waiver rules, leaving me with....drum roll please.... Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne. :guninmouth: I'm not saying "don't pick up Young". I'm just seeing all these people that seem to be planning on Young putting up the same numbers that Henry put up so far. Given Shanahan's track record when he doesn't have a proven horse like Davis, Portis, or Henry, that week when Bell or whoever puts up 100+ yards while Young is on the bench is going to hit pretty hard. jgcrawfish 232 Posted October 5, 2007 i'm no FF expert (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night), but my recommendation to anyone who has been fortunate enough to land/have Young is simple, SELL NOW. Don't even wait until this weekend. For chrissake, it's Shannahan. Young is one fumble or one bad block away from being demoted to 4th string while some guy we've never heard of gets pulled out of the stands, suits up, and runs for 1000 yrds. There are people who will give their left nut to have the starting Denver RB, so take them up on it. There's a feeding frenzy building on this guy, use it. I actually drafted Selvin in a very deep Dynasty league, when the news broke yesterday, I immediately picked up Andre Hall, who was listed behind Selvin on the depth chart prior to the Henry news (FWIW, both Mike Bell and Cecil Sapp were being listed as FB's). I've immediately opened up the trade talks. If I can get an underperforming back who I think will bounce back and maybe upgrade my WR in the process, done deal. I don't even trust that little pecker Shanny, I'd rather take the money and run. If Selvin becomes the next Willie Parker and I somehow let him go for somebody who's not as good, well, just remember...he's more likely to become the next Mike Bell, Olandis Gary, etc than the next Willie Parker. Jeremy 0 Posted October 5, 2007 Yep. This definitely cements Henry as the dumbest player in the NFL, surpassing Vick. 9 kids by 9 different women + smoking pot when the next failed test is a year suspension = There must be something missing in his brain or something that causes him to not learn from his past mistakes. I don't get it.
hawk82 0 Posted October 5, 2007 Broncos RB Henry's Status Update Bill Williamson, The Denver Post - [Full Article] Denver Broncos star RB Travis Henry's NFL future is in legal limbo in New York. Barring a suspension by the Broncos, it is likely Henry will be able to play while the case is stuck in legal red tape, which could take days or weeks to cut through. Henry hasn't practiced this week because of ankle and knee injuries he suffered at Indianapolis on Sunday. Denver plays the San Diego Chargers at Invesco Field at Mile High on Sunday, then has its bye week before returning to host Pittsburgh on Oct. 21. Before publication of the failed drug test story and subsequent attempted lawsuit by Henry to block the "B" sample for confirmation, Denver coach Mike Shanahan said Henry will attempt to practice today. I then saw the people offering me ridiculous things this morning. Quite funny.
