Day Old Doughnut 0 Posted June 9, 2008 I wondered how long it would take for someone to whine and cry about the officiating. Boston's defense is better than what I thought. A lot better. This is just and ass whippin and the officiating has nothing to do with it. The Celtics can play defense. Plain and simple. But let the whining and excuses continue as to why LA is getting completely embarrassed and dominated.

Saint Elistan 106 Posted June 9, 2008 Powe just happens to have a fantastic night in the same game that he's highlighted in the half time show? I'm pretty much ready to give up on the NBA. Wrestling is less predictable.
redtodd 7 Posted June 9, 2008 What an arse kicking. Nothing is more fun than to watch Kobe piss and moan.
redtodd 7 Posted June 9, 2008 I'd drink it first so you won't be sober enough for this to piss you off as much, and then throw the empty can to relieve your anger. Plus, you get to keep your TV, not waste your beer, and not have to suffer this BS officiating. Maybe if the refs were calling more for LA the lead would only be 12. Saint Elistan 106 Posted June 9, 2008 Maybe if the refs were calling more for LA the lead would only be 12. Even the announcers have been saying it all game...the refs have been making sh!tty calls against both sides. It's affected the Lakers more. I'm pretty tired of fouls in the NBA. 33% of them are blown calls, 33% are are acting jobs, and 33% are intentional to slow down the pace of the other team. It's gotten pretty ridiculous. Saint Elistan 106 Posted June 9, 2008 I'm calling it. The Lakers are the "bad" guys this year. The Celtics in 4 or 5. EDIT: Then again the league could milk it and make it go to 7 to reestablish the rivalry. We've already got two stories to tell. Pierce "fighting through" his injury and Powe going from hungry for food to hungry for a Championship.
Day Old Doughnut 0 Posted June 9, 2008 I wonder if Strike and Can't Touch This will say this is just one game as well. I'm assuming they'll say Boston did what they were supposed to do which was win at home. Yes they did when many, including myself, thought the Lakers would take one of the first two games. Maybe now people will wake up and realize the Celtics are a pretty good team. Pressure is clearly on the Lakers now. Lakers haven't lost at home, but they haven't played a defensive team like this. I thought the Spurs played good defense, but they don't play defense as good as the Celtics.

redtodd 7 Posted June 9, 2008 That will teach me to turn the game off after the 3rd thinking a 22 point lead is more than enough. Thank you, Lakers, for not putting the ball in Kobe's hands with the game on the line at the end.

It has been weird the whole playoffs. They will call the ones where the guy barely got touched, but if the dude gets mugged, they are calling nothing. Yer mom 2 Posted June 9, 2008 I'd like to cap this evening with positive vibe, the Lakers WILL still win this series, they ended the game with just the momentum they needed to to win the next three. I have no doubt that they will make the necessary adjusstments to take the championship but a part of me is excited to be down 2 here, now the test of wills begins and the Lakers will answer Lakeshow
Flashover 0 Posted June 9, 2008 So when did the NBA change it to a "Best out of 3 series?" Boston nut-riders, careful when you talk sh!t.
Strike 5,291 Posted June 9, 2008 I posted this at that other censored bored but I'm posting it here as well: I got nothing to say I just don't want to be perceived as one of those fans who doesn't post when their team is losing. Look, let's quit whining about the refs. We aren't getting it done. We need to play better D (that rim attack end to end was pathetic), we need to rebound better, and we need to work inside out better. I'd like to see a few more calls go our way, and I hope that happens in LA, but we can't rely on that or blame the officials for us sucking. That's it. GettnHuge 2 Posted June 9, 2008 Conventional widsom is excusing the foul disparity as being the Celtics as more aggressive, shooting inside and going to the hole more in order to draw said fouls. CBS Sportsline shot chart Los Angeles Lakers Points: 102 Field Goal Selection Layups: 13-23 Jumpers: 23-54 Dunks: 5-7 Boston Celtics Points: 108 Field Goal Selection Layups: 12-14 Jumpers: 20-53 Dunks: 4-

GettnHuge 2 Posted June 9, 2008 That's amusing, Phil Jackson saying he's never seen a game reffed like that before. Of course he has, he's just been on the winning side of those games 99% of the time and had nothing to complain about. over 15yrs ago he suggested the league was fixed like this when it was Chic vs. NY. The Moz 69 Posted June 9, 2008 Right now the Big 3 are playing like it - they didn't all playoffs long! Boston is hitting there 3's - they had trouble all playoffs long Pierce is being aggressive early - he wasn't untill now. Refs are calling the game in favor of Boston at least so far. An Kobe is getting no calls at least not yet.. LA cannot win if Boston plays like this - They have offense but other than Kobe they got noone on defense to gaurd anyone. If Boston hits shot like that they can't beat them becasue they can't gaurd them other than to foul. Kobe can't score like he has becasue they are smothering him - BUT - unlike anyone in west they are getting back to gaurd the 3 point shooters. I got to hand it to Doc Rivers so far -- GREAT coaching - I didn't thnk he was this good. He is doubling Kobe and shutting down the 3 point shooters ( don't look to muhc at the 4th qaurter last game they were playing with a large lead ) and letting Odom and Gasol try and beat them Inside - knowing LA gets it's points off 3's and Kobe first an foremost. LA isn't done but are on almost! They need to win 3 in a row to have a shot - noway they win 2 in Boston - MAYBE 1.

In Jacks defense that call in game 5 of the Chi - NY series was maybe the worst I ever saw in crunch time - he grazes the guys arm AFTER he shoots - which is never called. $epphori$ 118 Posted June 9, 2008 They need to win 3 in a row to have a shot - noway they win 2 in Boston - MAYBE 1. That is exactly my think'n as well...
The Moz 69 Posted June 9, 2008 KObe now has a shot to be LIKE MIKE! LA wins this series by him going off every game here on out -- then he can start saying IMO - he is LIKE MIKE. Jordan did that many times in the Finals and willed his team to a title - KObe does it then he can lay his claim. lets see.
