wolfpackraider 0 Posted July 31, 2008 NONE OF THESE RESPONSES ANSWER THE FREAKIN QUESTION!!!! The only question is if it happened, what happens to AP? Anything is possible and it's irrelevant to the question at hand. I'm sick of hearing about Favre, don't worry about if it's possible, just answer the question. If Farve was a Viking, would AP be #1? I'm leaning towards yes.
Gepetto 1,368 Posted July 31, 2008 If Favre joins the Vikings, I think it helps Adrian Peterson. Favre should help with less drives stalling so more opportunities for All Day to run and more redzone opportunities. He scores from outside the redzone a lot too. I think Tarvaris Jackson steps up this year and All Day flourishes.

Yeah, but they have to get something for him at this point to save face, a little and it seems like Minny is the only team he wants to go to and may be the only team actually interested in trading for him at this point. DexterMorgan 5 Posted August 1, 2008 As a viking fan i would have trouble welcoming Favre as well. I just dont think he fits Minnesota's offense and childress will really have to reel him. He cant go throwing the rock all over the field when you got AP in the back. Plus you just wasted 2 years on Tarvaris, who (contrary to many) I think was progressing and was expecting to see good things from this year. But oh well, if they sign him ill be rooting for him. minnesotaskillz 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Here is exactly how this will all play out; People keep commenting that the Pack should trade Favre to any team outside of the North. Why would Tampa and/or Jets give up... say a 4th round draft pick for Favre, when Favre is telling him that he doesnt wanna play there and wants to play in the NFC North. Basically the team is throwing the draft pick down the drain. Tampa just did it with Jake the Snake, it wont happen again. Another option is for the Pack to keep Favre as a backup. A $13 million dollar a year backup? Thats what he's due when his reinstatement gets approved. Football is a business, you want to destroy a locker room. Pay $13 million dollars to someone not playing or competing for a job. The media circus would be out of control and Aaron Rodgers would have the whole weight of Wisconsin on his back. The clear option is the Vikings and frankly he is going there whether or not the Pack wants him too. Its in the best interest of the Pack either try to broker a trade or they will end up cutting him. That being said, Green Bay is foolish to declare Rodgers the starter. Regarding AD performance post-Favre Trade. The beginning of last season caught many teams off guard. They werent ready for AD and his skillset. Call it a rookie wall, bring up his knee or whatever...he looked somewhat vulnerable at the end of the year. The defense's basically gameplan to stop him. Im sorry to say the vikes dont have a quarterback and have marginal receivers....the type of receivers that need a good quarterback to have a break out season. Favre coming to the Vikings will legitimize the passing game. It likely wont be a top 10 passing offense...but a passing threat keeps defenses honest and puts more equations in the defenses gameplan. Favre coming to Minnesota would make a strong argument for AD as being the #1 overall pick.
kutulu 1,680 Posted August 2, 2008 WTF? Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that Packers quarterback Brett Favre currently plans to accept the Packers’ shameless bribe marketing deal and un-unretire from the NFL. Schefter points out that the decision isn’t final, and that it could change and has changed already. As of right now, however, Favre’s inclination is to take the money and not run. Or throw. Meanwhile, Chris Mortensen of ESPN recently reported that Commissioner Roger Goodell asked for a resolution of the situation by the end of the day on Saturday, and that the Packers are hoping that Favre doesn’t report in time for a Sunday night scrimmage at Lambeau Field. Mort says that family members are urging Favre to get on a plane for Green Bay on Sunday. As we see it, it’s possible that Favre is putting out the word that he’s taking the money so that he can call a press conference on Sunday and declare that it’s not about the money, it’s never been about the money, and he wants to play football. We’re told that, if Favre shows up, the team’s plan is to put him at the bottom of the depth chart, continue to try to trade him, and if they can’t they’ll cut him on the eve of the regular season opener. .profootballtalk.com ESPNews reports NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is expected to reinstate Green Bay Packers retired QB Brett Favre Monday, Aug. 4. Goodell is growing tired of the situation and reinstating Favre will force the two parties to speed up their discussions on which direction they will go. Gepetto 1,368 Posted August 3, 2008 Berrian becomes a WR2! Berrian = Jennings. Sweet WRs in your sig. I've got Cotchery, Jennings, and Berrian in one of my ppr leagues. I think Jennings is going to be a WR1 no matter who's throwing him the ball. I see a huge jump in his receptions and yards. And we know he can score touchdowns on both short slants and deep throws. Berrian will be lights out and have some long touchdowns, especially if Favre is throwing it to him.

kutulu 1,680 Posted August 5, 2008 Conflicting stories continue: REPORT: FAVRE’S ACTUAL RETURN TO PACKERS “UNLIKELY” Though the Green Bay Packers proclaimed on Sunday that Brett Favre will return to the team for a 17th season, his 17th season might not even entail a single appearance in a yellow-and-green helmet. In the wake of Monday night’s five-hour meeting, which followed Favre passing a physical and being returned to the active roster, FOX’s Jay Glazer reports that “it now seems less and less likely that Favre will be back on the playing field for the Packers.” Favre, per Glazer, met both with head coach Mike McCarthy and G.M. Ted Thompson on Monday night. The meeting between Favre and Thompson began at roughly 11:00 p.m. local time. Thompson has been the focus of criticism by Favre over the past month, including a contention by Favre that he doesn’t trust Thompson... Glazer also reports that the two sides agreed that there will be no “open competion” at quarterback, and that the starting job will belong to Aaron “7-for-20″ Rodgers. profootballtalk.com

kutulu 1,680 Posted May 3, 2009 I don't know! According to the New York Daily News, one NFL source insists free agent Brett Favre "can't peacefully retire until he finds a way to get revenge on the Packers.""Favre can't stand Green Bay," the source said. "He wants to play Green Bay and say, 'I told you so.' His bitterness is creating this. I think he's calling Minnesota. I think Minnesota is talking about this as we speak. You haven't heard the end of Favre. No way. He is bionic. As long as somebody will let him in, he will play.
Phurfur 70 Posted May 4, 2009 Packers Management are idiots. Why, because they made the right call on Favre?
Franknbeans 46 Posted May 4, 2009 Vikings owner Zygi Wilf, usually willing to answer a question or two about his team, was conspicuously mute when asked Saturday about whether he has interest in free-agent quarterback Brett Favre. "I have no comment," Wilf said, then repeated, "no comment." Wilf did say he feels "great" about his football team. "We're always improving," he said, adding he feels the team "did a great job" with the draft. Expectations for 2009? "We're there to defend our division, so we're in a good spot," he said. The Vikings have been evasive, but not dismissive, when asked about Favre. It's clear one of two issues involve the possibility of Favre signing with Minnesota. Either Favre isn't certain he wants to play again, or his return is predicated on passing a physical for the biceps muscle he tore in his throwing arm last season. If Favre is to become the Vikings' quarterback for 2009, and it still appears he will, a deal is expected to be done within the next three weeks. The Vikings' mandatory minicamp for players is May 29-31. -- Pioneer Press ..... Ben's Take: Will Favre cry if he's introduced as QB of the Vikings? Should be a good spin job. remote controller 143 Posted May 4, 2009 Why, because they made the right call on Favre? In your opinion, because, in my opinion they messed up and their record last year tends to support it. Rodgers did greta, and I am happy for him. This was about dissing GreenBay players. I remember a few of the vets saying "IF THEY CAN DO THIS TO BRETT< NOBODY IS SAFE!" Thompson lost the team before the start of the season. Rodgers did everything he could to keep it together, but he couldn't do it all with his receivers. I would love to see Breet stick a win at Lambeau right up Thompson'e a$$! (incase you hadn't heard me say that yet)

(incase you hadn't heard me say that yet) My cack has more intelligence than most of the players in the NFL. Figures they'd totally ignore how he'd leave the team dangling every fall with the retirement thing. Then they ignored how he REALLY focked the team by 'officially' retiring, then coming back after they'd already headed in a different direction. Do you really think they would have wasted a 2nd rounder on Brohm if Favre wouldn't have been focking around. There's one of those WRs you were complaining about. He's no different than a dramatic girlfriend. Eventually you get tired of the sh!t and just say 'fock off'. I really used to dig Favre. But man his act got old quickly. You watch, this back and forth BS will be talked about for decades. The media will use it as an example of not being able to let go of the game.

The media will use it as an example of not being able to let go of the game. My thoughts exactly. I think he lost a lot of fans with this crap. Mostly, I blame ESPN. Every year for five years they'd fill the post-SB vacuum with "will he or won't he?" Then about 3 months after hashing and re-hashing it, they get the memo to start with the "I'm SICK of all this talk about Brett Favre! Just DECIDE already!" - Meantime, it's ESPN that's been doing all the talking. But yeah, that last round with the Packers was all Brett. Don't sit there and that you 'just can't do it anymore' - then expect to keep mind-focking the organization for the next six months. I read at the time that what this really boils down too is Brett was pissed that the Pack finally fought back in the 'leak campaign' and released the story about chartering a plane for him - and Brett pulling out yet again. I mean, that pretty much nailed him. - And he knows it - and he's pissed. Meanwhile, his agent is leaking shiit every GD day to the press. And that shiit above? Is what most people are siick of. - Not the stuff in the years before, but when you finally do the boo-hoo retirement speech, then 2 months later, want to come back, then change your mind, then 2 months later want to come back. - Geebus, focking die already. Honestly, I hope the Viking pick him up and I hope some guy just cleans his fothermocking clock. LB's have been ######-footing around him for far too long. Nuke this focker into permanent retirement.
