edjr 7,043 Posted September 18, 2008 If LT stays hurt, and Edwards makes a 180, you win. if Edwards outscores LT for the rest of the year, which is what I am "hoping" then I think I did the right thing. I don't care about Schaub or Jones now if you'll excuse me, I have to go poop
TK0001 99 Posted September 18, 2008 if Edwards outscores LT for the rest of the year, which is what I am "hoping" then I think I did the right thing. Understood, but it's about value now. Your argument is like saying drafting Randy Moss in the first round in 1998 should be considered a "smart thing" because he went on to score 17 TDs, but in reality that would be a stupid move because you could've drafted him much later. Drafting Moss in the first would've been a gamble, drafting him in the 15th would've been a genius move.

Joey Gladstone 33 Posted September 18, 2008 Not a bad trade by any means. I probably would have waited it out on LT, hoping for a big game to boost his value before trading him. You were still able to secure a decent RB and Braylon could really pick it up at some point. Losing your backup QB was of no consequence to you. Feel free to give yourself a hand-job, but make sure to half-ass it.

Guest BernardPollardFan Posted September 18, 2008 Someone on my antsports league offered me this trade. LT2 and Schuab for Thomas Jones and Braylon Edwards. Start 2 running backs and either 3 WR or 2 WR/TE I accepted the trade. team before the trade QB Tony Romo QB Matt Schaub RB Earnest Graham RB Jonathan Stewart RB LaDainian Tomlinson RB Steve Slaton RB Jacob Hester WR Santana Moss WR Muhsin Muhammad WR Jerricho Cotchery WR Ted Ginn Jr. WR Marty Booker It's only a $50 antsports league, but I am 2 - 0 and he is 0 - 2 I am playing against him this week too. I needed a WR, I wasn't even starting LT2  Countdown to major regret: 2 weeks.

HenryChinaski 1 Posted September 18, 2008 He didn't trade Westbrook? Or Marion Barber III
Mephisto 15 Posted September 19, 2008 I don't see anything wrong with the trade. Tomlinson has a foot injury that is very likely going to turn into a nagging turf-toe. He couldn't go on Sunday and has he even practiced in any meaningful capacity this week? It takes some guts to make a move like this and I can't fault him for doing so. The masses will invariably say it's stupid based on Tomlinson's legendary history. However, I've watched people b!tch the same about many in that position... Shaun Alexander comes to mind. I was skewered for trading him for Favre early in the year last year while 99% of the people argued about how it was a bad trade. Hell, there is a lengthy thread on the main board with people arguing how Alexander was better than Marion Barber. You go with your gut. A lot of people lost a lot of games early based on LT's legendary history and by the time he turned it around, their season was shot. The reason you DON'T wait until he has a blow-out game to "increase his trade value" is because it's at that very point where you DON'T want to trade him... and if he backslides again, you're focked. Do I think you sold him cheap? I do. Do I think it's a completely moronic deal? Nope. As always, time will tell. ATTABOY, ED!
thePRO 78 Posted September 19, 2008 Horrible trade. You traded an underperforming L.T for an underperforming Edwards. Who gives an ish about the other 2 involved. L.T will come back and do solid, Edwards not so much. Trust me. You won't win your championship.

mgs316 14 Posted September 19, 2008 Yes I realize that part, but the "Someone on my antsports league offered me this trade. LT2 and Schuab for Thomas Jones and Braylon Edwards." Meaning to me "offered me LT2 and Schaub FOR Jones and Edwards" No biggie, just found that part confusing and it wouldn't be the first time someone f-ed up a thread title. The Hood 9 Posted September 19, 2008 LT - injured Braylon - healthy LT may come back and do solid, but I had 3 RB's, I need a WR Really? lagarzlebrew 0 Posted September 19, 2008 LT - injured Braylon - healthy??? LT may come back and do solid, but I had 3 RB's, I need a WR Braylon Edwards, WR CLE News: Browns WR Braylon Edwards is questionable for Week 3 at Baltimore with a shoulder injury. He was limited in practice all week. Analysis: Between shaky quarterback play, tough opponents and a case of the dropsies, Edwards' Fantasy owners have had to endure a lot so far this season, and now it looks like his availability might be a game-time decision. Consider Edwards a No. 1 WR if he plays this week, and we'll be first to know whether or not he'll be active this Sunday when we receive the inactives for the 4 p.m. games, roughly no later than by 3 p.m. ET on Sunday. Be prepared to have a backup plan in case Edwards cannot go.

G3-175SE 0 Posted September 20, 2008 and LT2 has done what? LT has always started slow. For the first 2 to 3 weeks I have come not to expect much from him but middle to late he is great.
VaTerp 0 Posted September 20, 2008 I dont like the trade from a pure VALUE standpoint. I happen to be one of those who think the end is near w/ Tomlinson and if I had him I would prolly be looking to move him. But I think you should have gotten MUCH MORE than a mediocre RB and a WR who has great potential but is underperforming right now and plays on a team that has many more questions than answers at the moment. In my main league LT was traded last week before week 2 games. The LT owner, a close friend who I happen to play this week, gave LT Holmes Slayton Ray Rice and received MBIII Harrison McFadden Felix Jones IMO this is a much better value than Edjr's trade. I understand the man crush on Edwards BUT your RB depth is NOWHERE near good enough to give up LT and only only get Thomas Jones back in return at the RB position. You really feel comfortable with Graham, Stewart, and TJones as your every week starters? These would be great RB2/3s if they were combined with a true stud in there but Id be very concerned if those were by far my TOP 3 Rbs.

bsong 0 Posted September 20, 2008 I think the most compelling point is that, it seems that LT's name value should command more from someone willing to take a chance. I offered Larry Fitz and Reggie Bush for LT and Trent Edwards and was turned down.

edjr 7,043 Posted November 5, 2008 Lets have a look, shall we? Since the trade. LT2 has scored 32.5 5.7 11.8 6.7 29.0 0.0 for a total of 85.7 T. Jones has scored 6.9 0.0 28.8 15.9 12.0 16.7 for a total of 80.3 B. Edwards has scored 8.2 0.0 27.4 8.8 6.4 17.6 for a total of 68.4 To all that said the trade was dumb. mccombsau 5 Posted November 6, 2008 Thomas Jones > LT2 I've got to be honest with ya, I still don't think you made out in this deal. IMO LT2 is going to have a monster second half of the season. TJ is already losing carries to Washington, and Braylon can't catch a ball no matter who is throwing to him. Good luck with it though, you gotta take a chance sometimes. josh wiley 77 Posted November 6, 2008 lt2 may be on the other side of the bell curve, but he has had a week to rest and the turf toe issue should be almost nonexistent. for those of u who held on to him and did not panic earlier in the year, u will now be able to reap the rewards. it starts this week against the chiefs and i wouldn't be surprised if we start to see more spinmoves and lateral cuts which have been his patented moves over the years. josh wiley 77 Posted November 6, 2008 This very well may happen, but wouldn't you admit Jones has also turned into a different player the last few weeks? and Edwards has picked it up. Quinn is the xfactor though i would say tomlinson will be a much better play than jones the rest of the year. his floor will be good and his ceiling could be 100 plus rushing 5-7 receptions around 50 receiving and couple touchdowns. thomas jones will not give you these numbers as leon will take some of those. now don't get me wrong, i know sproles will get some pt, but just enough to keep lt2 fresh. also, i have to admit, even in college i thought that breaston was the better of the michigan receivers. i'm starting to be reminded of why i originally thought that. not saying braylon is bad, but he has dropped some passes here recently that an nfl wide receiver should not be dropping, let alone a "superstar" receiver.
