I tell this stupid owner I will never trade with him because I already have a top roster and yet he keeps proposing one sided trades that benefit him. He just keeps proposing these trades and I guess he thinks I might accidentally accept one when I am drunk one night, Anyone else seen this type of owner? Anyone willing to admit they are this guy? fatneck13 0 Posted October 1, 2008 Back on topic ... I find trading frustrating in many leagues. Too many people approach trades with a "I win, you lose" mentality. I can't tell you how many ridiculously lopsided trades I have been offered over the years. I wish more people would realize that trades are meant to be a win-win situation and that you should seek out opponents who are deep at your needed position and vice versa, or take a gamble for future value. When it is approached right I love the trading action that can occur in a league, it really makes it a lot more fun, but unfortunately I have found those instances to be far and few between. Sigh. I guess I will just have to continue to entertain the idea of trading my #1 RB for a two #3 WR's and a kicker.
ffbraddy 0 Posted October 1, 2008 Yeah, I have an example of this guy from today. Dude offers me Lav Coles and Brandon Jackson for my Desean Jackson. While this trade may seem fair at first, let's consider a few things. Yes, I do have Ryan Grant, but if Grant does not play I have no faith in B. Jackson. Second, I have Crotchery on my team already--why would I want 2 WR from the same team? Third, its the Jets bye this week, which would do me no good. And finally, and this is the kicker, I am playing this guy this week. He wants me to dump one of my 2 WR that I am starting in order to use him against me. eliplaxshock 0 Posted October 2, 2008 I am curious what owners think of me. I am always looking to improve my team so when i see an owner put people on the trade block i see if there is anyone on his block that i am interested in. Now my first offer might not be what you are looking for but i am hoping to get a counter in return and maybe there is someway to meet in the middle. I probably have an offer or two out there in all of my leagues waiting on replies daily. Now if you consider that being the annoying guy then i guess i am one of them. Of course I have not put anyone on the trade block in this league and yet this guy seems to think I am interested in trading with him, The trades are ridiculous and this moron is basically like a telemarketer who thinks you are just dying to buy their product. He could even be compared to a panhandler in that he seems to keep begging when it is obvious to all that his one sided trades are not wanted. He is basically trying to get something for nothing which makes him no different from 90% of the greedy, stupid, uneducated trash in the American population. Why would I trade this person stud players for scrubs? He seems to think I don't know the difference when I am sitting at 4-0 and stacked with a roster so deep that my bench RBs could start as #2s on most teams in the league. Why would I want to trade MBIII and Marshall? They are studs and I certanly would not trade them for trash from his roster. These trade morons are as bad as telemarketers, panhandlers, and democrats. Quickolas1 80 Posted October 2, 2008 I'd much rather have someone who continually offers me deals than owners who have never made an offer and won't respond to offers. Not to mention, I don't have to accept anything I don't like. The worst 'guy' out of all of these is the one who complains when someone is offering him deals because he doesn't like them. Instead of just declining, he may even take it to a message board for theraputic purposes. Pretty silly if you ask me, when instead one could be happy with their 4-0 start and the obviously brilliant mind which had led him to be so much smarter than everyone else in his league. Dashow28 10 Posted October 2, 2008 At times I think I offer trades that might be a little undervalued but I try to keep it at least close. Yesterday for an example, I offered Dehlomme and Isaac Bruce for Hasslebeck and Braylon Edwards. I figure that's about even or that I might even be giving more if you look at the stats. Guy counters by offering me Flacco, Jamal Lewis, and Braylon Edwards for Drew Brees and Greg Jennings. It is annoying when you get numerous ridiculous trade offers, but I agree, it's better than owners who don't do a thing or can't even hit a cancel button when you send them a request after a few days. A lot of it is people putting their players on the trading block, then you send them an offer and you never hear anything. Then why put anyone on the trading block? #

He keeps offering trades in a vain attempt at getting me to give up MBIII and Marshall. I am going to simply not respond to the trade offers since it is obvious now that he thinks a trade rejection is me negotiating with him. I tend to avoid idiots in real life and it works for the most part as it gives them no chance at infecting me with their B.S. sales pitch for some crap product they are offering. I am going to start using the same "ignore" approach on the annoying trade guys. This idiot has offered eight trades to me over the past two weeks and every one of them offered scrub bench players for MBIII and Marshall. It is like this guy thinks I somehow stumbled onto my team and am successful by luck and am just going to give away top players for nothing. Ignore is the new policy and I will wait for the moron to withdraw the trade or I could offer him a scrub player for LT.

That's a pretty even trade...McNabb loved Curtis last year, with him coming back Jackson might not see as many targets as he has been getting. But what's wrong with having 2 guys from the same team? I have Colston out and just picked up Muhammad to pair with Smith...you gotta figure at least one of them gets a TD. I'd much rather have someone who continually offers me deals than owners who have never made an offer and won't respond to offers. Not to mention, I don't have to accept anything I don't like. Pretty silly if you ask me, when instead one could be happy with their 4-0 start and the obviously brilliant mind which had led him to be so much smarter than everyone else in his league. I definitely agree with this. In my main league before the season started I offered Frank Gore, Greg Jennings and David Garrard for Tom Brady, Ryan Grant, and Lee Evans and the guy posted a message on the message board about how horrible it was. Good thing for me he rejected it (although I'm only 1-2-1)! I personally love to offer trades. I try not to offer anything ridiculous, but people tend to overvalue their own players (including myself) so something that is ridiculous to one person might not seem ridiculous to someone else. I've been playing in this league for 8 years and there is usually a max of 2 trades per year, but most likely about 1, and last year there weren't any. And most of the trades that are made are between me and one other owner, so yeah, that does get annoying, especially when people just leave the trade up there...you can't take 2 seconds to hit reject, or heaven forbid make a counter offer? Lions or Die 0 Posted October 3, 2008 I am the commish in my main money league and I think my opponents call me the annoying trade guy. I presume this because none of them will accept my trade offers. I just offered Hines Ward and Trent Edwards for Marques Colston (prob won't play before week 10) and Brett Favre (his starting QB is Brees). He turned me down. Now I am offering another own Ward for Ocho Cinco straight up. I haven't heard anything back yet. Are these trades that imbalanced or do these guys just refuse to trade with me making me that annoying trade guy? I am also the only 4-0 team in our league and I don't see Ward starting on my roster until the Steelers get back to healthy, which may be a while.

I love how you annoying trade guys think you deserve a response. Why would anyone waste the time to send you a message when you offer insulting trades to a stranger who has not even put anyone on the trading block? The trading block is there for a reason and if you solicit offers to a team with no one on their trading block then you are acting like a telemarketer who calls someone while they are eating dinner with their family. It would be bad enough if you offered a fair deal, but it is extremely insulting and demeaning when you offer a one sided trade to them. Do you think the other team is stupid and wanted to trade but could not figure out how to use the trading block? They should make a do not trade list so owners can escape the annoying trade guys who offer 8 one sided trades during a two week period.

While I appreciate your perspective, our league has never used a trading block for trades. We have always held general conversations and made offers that way. You know. The human interaction way. Owner to owner! This is how we have always done it so my offers shouldn't be offensive. I am the only 4-0 team offering a 0-4 team and a 1-3 team an opportunity to improve and I am taking all the risk (Hines Ward for Colston out most likely until week 10 or for Ocho Cinco who has done nothing this year). jgcrawfish 232 Posted October 3, 2008 I don't even want to read through all the responses to see if someone has already done it, because whether or not it's already been said, I call BS. Despite your claims to the contrary you're neither intelligent enough to have a 4-0 record (unless it's your League of Extraordinary Retards that you, your sister/wife and your imaginary croonie play in) nor do you possess an IQ greater than your hat size, which is probably unnecessarily large based on your high opinion of yourself. So quit stroking yourself on the board and get a life. If you were really as obscenely intelligent as you claim to be, you'd let all those trade offers just sit there open, then wait until one of the players he's trying to get off you goes down for the season with an injury, then accept his trade, that would teach him...but...he, like the rest of probably knows your an idiot and not bright enough to think of that. Slim Pickins 0 Posted October 3, 2008 Seriously. If you don't like the trade, counter with something ridiculous in your favor. No need complaining...make your point to your opponent. I agree with the rest: nobody wants to read about your rather inane attempt to elevate your team by complaining about the 0-4 guy trying to trade with you. Rather, just eat a little humble pie, admit you're bragging, and move along. Wasn't your handle Money or something like that a few years ago? If so, please stop posting...
