**Official NFL Power Rankings- Playoff edition***

Recommended Posts

Actually, we laugh at people like you who take the rankings way too seriously. He's an Eagles fan and therefore will have them ranked as such, sometimes deservingly so, sometimes not. Just go with it chico.

Oh and by the way...regular season records don't matter come playoff time! Everyone knows that...well, apparently not everyone! ;)

:P

Anyone with half-a-brain knows that records get wiped clean come playoff time. And by teh looks of it, 99% of the people who posted in this thread actually get it.

Of course, you still have your nitwits like IGotWorms who think it matters how some team did in week 8? You either make the playoffs or you don't. That's why they keep records.

But then again, Worms is a Patriots fan. We all know where they'll be this weekend.

Ya, I think if you were to put the pats at #6 in your Playoff rankings he wouldn't have said a word.

Alright, you've convinced me Newbie: records don't matter. There is no difference between a team that wins 12+ games during the regular season because they consistently close out games late, and the team that just barely squeaks into the playoffs because they can't string together a couple of decent performances. Each of those teams is equally like to put together the 3-4 playoff victories necessary to win the Superbowl. :overhead:

I didn't put them above the Titans and Colts because I don't think they deserve to be.

... and why would I be 'afraid to pull the trigger'? You make no sense.

Why are you even here? This thread is about playoff teams.

:overhead: if i wasnt here you guys would be calling me a bandwagon Cowboys fan that disappears when our season is over. i guess i cant win. oh well, i'm here to tell you that you are a typical doosh bag eagles fan, and your list sucks.

Exactly how is Pittsburgh and Indy the team to beat in the AFC. Not one poster here had the Titans ranked above Pittsburgh , yet not only less than 3 weeks ago those two teams met in a game that would determine who had home field advantage throughout. Tennessee took them down 31-17 and had several key players out for that game due to injury. Now they get back those players , Pittsburgh would again have to come and play them in Tennessee and everyone thinks that Pittsburgh would be the team to beat in that game. That game actually happens and Vegas would have Tenn favored to win it by at least 4. Tenn in the only game that they really played against Indy ...sorry that 23-0 game last week played by second stringers don't mean squat...they took them down 31-21. Again Indy would have to come to Tenn and that line I bet the Titans would be favored by closer to 7.

Actually, I put that because it really doesn't matter. San Diego is 8-8 and I guarantee you that Indy would rather be playing Miami at 11-5. Records mean nothing. Nothing.

NOT!

Don't you know? The Bolts OWN the COLTS!

How much did regular season records matter in the Charger vs. Indy playoff game?

So far, two of NewbieJr's lower ranked teams have beaten the higher ranked teams.

This is going great. Nice job.

Reread what I posted. That's exactly what I was saying all along. San Diego was only 8-8 and everyone knew that they were the hottest team in the AFC, along with Indy.

Come on now, call their players all the names you want, but anyone who knows football knows that Indy and San Diego are the two hottest teams in the league right now. It's actually a shame that they have to play each other right away.

This was what I wrote on Dec. 29th. I knew along that S.D. was as hot as anyone. I just thought Indy was hotter.

Also, about ten different people offered their own rankings and everyone had Indy higher than San Diego.

As far as Arizona goes, I was wrong about them. Well, not too wrong. They'll get killed when they have to go on the road. I guess who I was really wrong about was Atlanta. Perhaps I should have had them lower. I think what I, and everyone else including Vegas, has done is underestimated the importance of home field. It makes me more nervous about the Eagles travelling to Minnesota.

I just went back to compare my playoff rankings with your and surprise you didn't offer up any. What a shocker!

Because we all know you would have had San Diego higher than Indy and Arizona higher than Atlanta.

As usual, rather than put yourself out there you'd rather be a pussie and just troll afterward.

Why don't you go into the Seahawks thread and talk about what a great time it is to be a fan of a 4-12 team. :dunno:

P.S. Don't forget to watch the Eagles today. You know who I mean? The playoff team from Philly.

That's the difference between us. The Seahawks sucked this year and we are still here discussing them. When the Iggles went into to the tank and it looked like they wouldn't make the playoffs, you and your rankings disappeared. Enjoy the front running Mr. out of work DJ :music_guitarred:

Yes. And instead of trying to stir up controversy on a message bored, I put my money where my mouth was, and bet on San Diego and Arizona. Because they were the better teams, playing at home. Oh, yeah, they were both the higher seeds.

But keep defending yourself, by all means. It's amusing.

Ok. I don't care if your team finished 13-3 or 8-8. It don't mean a thing at this point (other than home field advantage). Here's how i rate the teams going into the playoffs:

1. New York Giants- Playoff experience is huge. Manning is unflappable and they should have a healthy Jacobs back. I can't bet against the returning champs.

2. Carolina Panthers- Williams/Stewart are awesome on the ground and Smith/Muhammed are money in the air. Add a good defense and they have a legit shot.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers- Not sure why they removed Rothlesberger's facemask for a simple concussion. Theatrics, I suppose. Good thing he didn't also have a bloody nose, they would have probably used the Jaws of Life and airlifted him.

4. Indianapolis Colts- Manning is playing great and they are teh hottest team in the league right now. Unfortunately for them, they have to play the 2nd hottest team in round one.

5. Tennessee Titans- Healthy and well-rested. I'm interested to see how Collins holds up in the playoffs.

6. Philadelphia Eagles- The team that beat the Giants two weeks ago and Dallas yesterday can beat anyone. The team that lost to Washington last week can lose to anyone. We never know which team will show up.

7. Baltimore Ravens- We already knew about their defense, but now they are putting up big points. They'll have a tough road playing away from home, though.

8. San Diego Chargers- They're playing very well, but will have a huge challenge in front of them vs. Indy this week.

9. Atlanta Falcons- Ryan, like Flacco, is playing very unrookie-like. I think they'll steamroll Arizona.

10. Miami Dolphins- Unbelievable turnaround from last year. I'm not sure how Pennington and Co. will fare against Baltimore, but they do have home field advantage.

11. Minnesota Vikings- They always have the threat of ADP breaking a long one, and the defense plays well at times, but they've probably the playoff's most inconsistant team.

12. Arizona Cardinals- They pretty much showed in the last six weeks that they have no business being in the playoffs, but someone had to get in from that division. An embarrassing first round loss awaits them.

Three of my bottom four eliminated.

Looks like the Newbster knows more than many want to admit.

Ya never know. The Giants won in Philly and the Eagles beat them at the Meadowlands. Giants will be favored, because of home field, but it will be a very small spread.

No respect at all. Best record, home field, and wins vs. two of the other three contenders (and the one that just got bounced) and the Titans are still overlooked.

I hope they come in with a big, nasty chip on their shoulder Saturday, and send the Ravens back to that sh!thole of a city with a loss.

The team that put up a robust 3 points vs Washington and gutlessly quit on the season 2 weeks ago is ranked #6?

BRILLIANT!!!

It's a disgrace that this fraud of a team backed their way into the playoffs due to every other NFC team choking even more, but I'm stunned that you have the Eagles ranked above any AFC team. That's a disgrace. And nevermind that the Eagles are the #6 seed in the weaker conference, they somehow are an elite team in your eyes.

A cavalcade of stupidity. An overflowing bounty of homeristic idiocy. Kudos. You've outdone yourself. Happy fishing, and I will be rooting against the Eagles as they flame out in a blow out next week. The good thing is that much like you, the Eagles front office still believes they are a contender, and will not make the necessary changes this off season. Say hello to a steady decline to the bottom of the league from your perch of mediocre teams. This is about where the Ray Rhodes era started to decline.

The Eagles can beat a few teams if they play a perfect game, but they have shown they can and will lose to anybody if they don't play perfect. A very flawed team with many, many problems. How has playing on the road worked out for you guys in the playoffs the last few years?

Edit: I might put the Eagles at #15. Obviously, New England and NY Jets are better teams. Denver is a maybe.

Bump

I thought it might be nice to revisit my playoff rankings.

Everyone was hard on me for putting the Eagles at #6. Seems they were right. They should have been top 4.

Great games coming up next weekend! Will be great!

Not only do I stand behind everything I wrote, let me highlight this one...

So enjoy your unlikely run in the playoffs. Your team smoke and mirrors will clear up soon enough, next season for sure, and hard times will follow. That's the way I see it. If this sounds harsh, so be it.

Your rankings still suck. Please review them.

So beating the Giants twice on the road this season, smoking the Cowboys on the road, beating up the Steelers early on and dismantling the Cardinals and Vikings this year was "smoke and mirrors".

You're a salty dog.

Here, I'll twist the knife a little bit: the Eagles still haven't paid their city taxes. Your taxes are going up because of it. :overhead:

The only thing that involved smoke and mirrors was the Tampa Bay loss to Oakland. The 6-1 stretch of ass-kicking has been done between the lines.

But, hey, look at teh bright side...."it's and exciting time to be a Seahawk's fan."

Bwahahahahah

You are absolutely right. I allowed the media to screw up my judgement on those teams. I probably should have had Philly much higher. I just didn't want to appear biased.
