Steelers AFC Championship Thread

After a great win against San Diego we are 1 game away from the Superbowl. This team has been in this situation a lot in the last 10 years only to walk away in defeat. But I have a lot of faith in Ben and in this defense to get the win over Baltimore. We beat them in two nail biters and I expect this game to be no different. I think the Steelers will wear out Baltimore's D in the end as they are prob running on fumes and also very banged up. Steelers win it 20-14.

Barf, puke, vomit. The Steelers are lame. They are media darlings for some unexplained reason and in a close game, you know they'll get the calls. The NFL WANTS them in the Super Bowl, just like they want the Cowboys in there. So, with their other "darling" out of the playoffs, the NFL will do whatever it takes to ensure a Steeler Super Bowl trip and a Super Bowl win. Its just as cheesey as the NBA stealing the series from Sacramento against the Lakers a few years back.

The last thing the NFL wants is Arizona and Baltimore in the Super Bowl. So, you aint getting that matchup no matter what.

Too bad.

I hope Ray-Ray concusses Big Ben into retardation....

I was really hoping that San Diego would win as I knew the Ravens had a much better chance against them than Pittsburgh.

I really do not see the Raven's beating the Steelers in this game, I just think this is the year of the Steeler. In their previous two meetings the officials inserted themselves and made the final decision after both teams had battled to a stalemate and in each case gave the game to the Steelers.

When the Raven's played the Titans I think the officials did pretty much the same thing, both teams battled to almost a draw, then the no-call on the delay of game unbalanced the equation to the Ravens favor.

I do not think the Raven's get calls their way in Pittsburgh. I also do not think they will be able to defend the passing game....Ben, Hines and Santonion are going to torch the pedestrian Washington and Walker....two clowns who will be bagging groceries next fall.

I think the Steelers are likely to march the ball up and down the field, and if the Ravens can keep it close, they get shafted once again by a blown call in the last few minutes of the game.

Then, the Steelers march into the Super Bowl and pound the life out of whomever is unfortunate enough to win the NFC title game.....

I remember hearing about the controversial play at the end of the second game, but I don't remember one from the first . . .

Me neither. And although that was a bad no call when the play clock expired on the Ravens, the Titans shot themselves in the foot and really did not deserve to win anyway.

Yeah, the "controversial" play AFTER the Steelers marched 90 yards down the field on the last drive AT Baltimore. The Ravens blew it.

The Ravens are no match for the Steelers, really. As long as the Steelers can muster up 14 points, they should be on their way to the Super Bowl.

Roadlizard quit being a troll. Leave that up to the professionals (Pimp/Dallas, FlaHawker, etc....).

The Ravens didn't get 'JOBBED' out of the first two games; they lost. That play in the second game that was ruled a TD was a TD. The ball was over the goalline when caught. I can't recall the what the 'controversial call' from the first game was either.

It's not that Pittsburgh has been media 'darlings' that makes you want to root for them. It's the fact that they finished 12-4 in the most brutal regular season lineup in twenty years. It's the fact that average wise, they held opponents to 250 yds of total offense and < 14 points. It's the fact that they play smashmouth football to win and don't have the superstars on their team.

I'm a die hard Steeler fan and I approved this message..........add +1 if you agree.

The reasons you point out are what make the Steelers completely sucky and dull. The make games generally boring although I have to admit there were some big offensive plays yesterday on both sides. Smashmouth football sounds good but alls it really means is that you're gonna be watching a LOT of punts and sh!tty offense. Not fun whatsoever. And, having NO Superstars on their team makes them even MORE lame, it doesnt make it better. Stars are what the people want. Thats why they watch the games and buy tickets in the first place. Just ask the NHL how things are going with NO stars or recognizable

players.

Its a good thing the NFL has a Socialistic mentality and a dumbed-down league. This is the only reason the Steelers are competitive. In a NON-socialist..err.... umm.... salary cap era, this particular Steeler team would have been 3-13 at best which would be indicative of their actual talent level.

Hey - whatever man... best of luck to ya.

I did not think the Ravens could beat the Titans, now they have to go face the grown-up version of the Titans....the Steelers.....having already limped out of last week.....and all the Steelers had yesterday was a full-contact scrimmage.....I cannot imagine them going into Pittsburgh anything less than physically and emotionally exhausted......start out slow and fall behind early, then be forced to rely on the passing game to stay in it....which then results in a bunch of 3 and outs that keeps the Raven Def on the field too long, and in the fourth quarter any lead the Raven's could possibly hope for will evaporate as their exhausted Def gives up play after play.....

That was my fear yesterday about the Steelers. That opening drive SD hung on them was like a sucker punch. The defense tightened up a bit an Holmes ran that put return back, but the offense was still doing nothing. But Pittsburgh put together their best offensive game plan of the season yesterday, by far. To me, the difference may be the big plays. For the Steelers it will be if they can get a couple of biggies on the suspect Raven secondary. On that same note, if that ballhawk Ed Reed gets his hands on a couple of those big play tries, all bets are off. Two well balanced teams with exceptional defenses that HATE each other playing for a shot at the biggest prize and bragging rights within their division. Doesn't get much better. :pointstosky:

Exactly! I mean did anyone, other than JG who was afraid of Darren Sproles, really think PItt would lose at home? And just to ensure it, the NFL sent in Bill Leavy :first:

But I am rooting for Pittsburgh to win their 5th SB. I am in a fantasy playoff league of 16 teams and I am the only one with Ben so if he doesn't get on his motorcycle this week and has two big games I could come away with some serious dough

Um, what's the big deal, Sproles is a weapon and his increased role had me worried as a fan :wall: I mean all the guy did was put up 274 total yards and a TD, hmmm, hardly a # for concern right <_<

And for what it's worth, this would be the Steelers 6th SB. I'm sure you're still in denial about that last one and I'm sure I'm opening up the door for your incessant whining again.

I think that you should, just once, actually watch a Steelers game. I think thati if you're honest, and you watch, you'll see that Harrison gets held on virtually every play. I'm not talking about the subtle holding that goes on all the time. I mean count the times where he just flat out gets tackled. You'll run out of fingers. It's embarrassing.

But yeah, the Steelers get all the calls.

6 consecutive games the most ferocious pass rush in the AFC (maybe the NFL) went without their opponent being called for an offensive hold. That's pretty impressive, no? Conjecture? I suppose. But that's why I invite you to take a critical look at that, and lose the crippling bitterness.

Your quote, not modified or edited. The Steelers have already won their 5th superbowl. So, the following can be gleamed from your post:

1. You're an idiot who doesn't know that if you "root for the Steelers to win..." then they would be winning their 6th superbowl. 2. You're an idiot who is still so bitter about perceived calls against your team that you delude yourself into thinking that the Steelers didn't win that superbowl, which was their 5th win. 3. Most likely, 1 and 2 both apply.

And I really like our chances in this game. They will be prepared as they hate this team and the homefield and Ben will be the difference!!

I'll be honest and say that my heart will be rooting for the Ravens to win, but my money will be on the Steelers.

Most think it will be close and for the first qtr it probably will. But in the end the score will be 34-13 Steelers.

I say big Ben goes off in this game. The cobwebs are gone and when the clock reads 0:00 so will the Ravens.

Why will I be rooting for the Ravens? I guess it's because most of the people I know want Pitt.

I like going against the grain. :) But I'm a Jets fan. :( I guess I should stop going against the grain. :D
