This is our third year keeping track of how bad NFLer's are in the offseason. Once Superbowl ends - - Rules are....anything officially charged is fair game....players must be on an active roster...coaches are not players. We had a total of 36 documented incidences 2008. Driving infractions led the pack last year with a total of 9 infractions, closely followed with chick beatings at 8 counts. Pot was a solid third at 6 puffs but couldn't keep up with the big time thugsters. This year we will closely document and monitor how these primetimers act.

The last couple of years, I voted right away for whatever + one you had...

With Goodell cracking down so hard on people, it's hard for me to vote 46+

I'll go one notch lower and say 41-46...it will still increase from last year...

You need to give an official start date. Anything after last Sunday (SB) right?

I actually will take the under at 36 this year. While stupidity will never die, I think we'll see the number trend downward now that players are starting to see the consequences. I know, stop giggling. Maybe it's naive. I'm just calling for less than last year. I'll put it at 26.

Last years rap sheet is now available on the first post without having to click on a link.

Looking back to last year - - I'm going with participant #25 Nicholas Kaczur going undercover for the DEA after he was busted.

There were some good ones though

If you like prop betting, or just anything to do with the NFL then you have to love the odds that BetUS has posted on which players and teams will have arrests in 2008. It should be an exciting year on the tabloid front as the Cincinnati Bengals went out and resigned the troubled Chris Henry and now it appears that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is going to fully re-instate Adam “Pacman” Jones to the Dallas Cowboys. Those of us who were hoping that the NFL could get through the season without more ink lining up on the police reports than on the sports pages may be in for a rough go of it yet again.

We also need to make sure that we are clear as to "who" qualifies. Last time we had people submitting former players. I think that we should have guys that were on active rosters at the end of the season (or practice squad) and not guys who had a sip of coffee with the LA Rams.

ETA: Put me down for 31-35

Oh no this can't be serious - from your link above

Who will be the first NFL player to get arrested, ordered by most to least likely:

Chris Henry 4/6

Adam “Pacman” Jones 1/1

Tank Johnson 2/1

Ray Lewis 5/1

Steve Smith 5/1

Kellen Winslow CLE 6/1

Randy Moss 10/1

Ricky Willams 15/1

Which team will have the most arrests?

Cincinnati Bengals 4/6

Dallas Cowboys 2/1

Carolina Panthers 10/1

Cleveland Browns 15/1

Last year's total of 36 was remarkable when you consider the record snowfalls and icy weather that gripped much of the nation in early 2008. Way to go, guys! If the weatherman cooperates and players are better able to get out to the clubs and house parties where offenses often occur, we should see a record-shattering 2009. Call me crazy, but I believe we will hit 55 this year.

Not sure if this counts. But it's a great way to start the contest :(

" Terry Glenn-WR- Cowboys Feb. 5 - 10:31 am et

Former Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn was reportedly arrested at a hotel last week on charges of marijuana possession and public intoxication.

Arrested in Irving (TX), Glenn also had four outstanding warrants in a nearby county. Police were summoned to the hotel after Glenn was allegedly "roaming the hallways naked." This likely ends Glenn's career. He tried to get back in the league last year, but both of his knees are in bad shape.

Wasn't on roster at all last year, so I have to say no.

Shame, because that's a really good one.

2/5/2009 Michael Merritt Kansas City TE Arrested in Orlando on suspicion of marijuana possession. Police said he was spotted him vehicle rolling a cigarette.

On Thursday, though, Merritt turned in a classic arrest story. Cops spotted Merritt in an Orlando parking garage, allegedly rolling a joint and, rather than try to talk his way out of the situation, the K.C. tight end instead went the hilarious route.

Merritt, who was a rookie with the Kansas City Chiefs last season, saw the officer and placed something in his mouth, Orlando police said. An officer approached the vehicle, told Merritt to get out and said "spit it out," an arrest affidavit said.

Merritt got out of the vehicle, spit out a brown cigarette-like object and said, "All of this for a little bit of weed?" according to police.

That. Is. Awesome.

No, not that he was trying to sneak in a little marijuana (Don't Do Drugs!) but, come on, you have got to appreciate that story. If only he had decided to just swallow the cigarette instead of hiding it under his tongue, we could've had our own NFL version of this:

Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse had his DUI charge reduced to reckless driving in a General Sessions courtroom on Thursday morning.

Kearse was placed on six months probation, issued a $350 fine and must complete an NFL alcohol education program. He’ll also have a restricted license for the next year.

I know it was from last year, but he had it postponed til now

First Jevon Kearse got his DUI charges delayed until after the season, now he's avoided the worst of possible sanctions by plea bargaining to a reckless driving charge, as the Tennessean reported.

Colts DT Darrell Reid spent Saturday night in an Indianapolis jail after being arrested at 2AM for disorderly conduct in a bar.

Reid was allegedly uncooperative when told he could not enter Club Oxygen because it was at capacity, "insisting" he be let in and trying to use his status as a Colts player. Police asked Reid's entourage to leave "nearly a dozen" times before making the arrest. It sounds like Reid shouldn't have been trying to go to another bar at 2AM. He'd already had plenty to drink. Feb. 8 - 12:12 pm et

Not sure if this counts as an arrest, but it is definitely a brush with the law.

Police: Steelers K has tantrum over restroom towels

NEW ALEXANDRIA, Pa. (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed is in trouble with the police over some towels, but not the Terrible kind waved by his fans.

Pennsylvania state police say Reed threw a temper tantrum at a Sheetz convenience store in New Alexandria, a tiny borough about 35 miles east of Pittsburgh, because its restroom didn't have any towels.

Reed has been cited for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, offenses similar to traffic tickets that carry a maximum fine of $300 and 90 days in jail each. Police said he broke the towel dispenser then used profane language to an employee and also outside the store.

"Reed caused damage to a towel dispenser as he was infuriated at the fact that there were no towels in it," according to a news release by Trooper Shawn Askins, who issued the citations. The incident occurred Saturday about 2:50 a.m.

NFL Cornerback Curtis Deloatch has been arrested for assaulting a female.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Former NFL cornerback Curtis Deloatch is in a North Carolina jail after being accused of assaulting a female.

According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's office, Deloatch was arrested Friday and remained at the county jail Saturday morning on the misdemeanor charge.

Details on the arrest were not immediately available. There was no answer at a phone number for the jail to indicate whether Deloatch had an attorney.

Deloatch started 13 games for the New York Giants in 2005 before playing for New Orleans a year later. He spent most of 2007 on injured reserve with the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina cut Deloatch in training camp last year and he did not catch on with another team.

He was cut last year by the Panthers, so I'm not sure if he counts or not?

I voted 46+.... No matter how hard the commish comes down on these guys, stupid is as stupid does.... or my favorite, you can take the thug out of the hood but you can't the hood out of the thug.

Perhaps we should have and under for type of offense...

I agree though, this should be for players actually on a team roster, even if its the off-season rosters. Retired or FA's should not be included and should start the day after the superbowl, so Feb 2.

With that in mind.. this guys need to be added...

Roderick Green - Arrested, charged with reckless driving, unlawfully carrying a weapon, marijuana possession and interfering with the duties of a police officer after traffic stop in Texas.

I don't think it counts, as he wasn't actually arrested. If we do count it, we're going to need to count stuff like speeding tickets also, which would send the number much higher.
