KSB2424 3,173 Posted March 6, 2009 The political threads on this bored are like everything else here. You have to sift through the bullshit, but you can learn something and have fun with it. Just like the mange bored and fantasy football. My main problem is how the left and right wing hacks ruin it for the rest of us. There are some/most of the political posters that are not gonna sway, give in, or even be somewhat open minded. They are gonna argue their "side" and that is it. That is what gets annoying to me. There is also a group of posters that are simply vested in a political person. Since they were debating on why you should vote for this guy back in the fall, they now stand behind him close minded. They are to vested in him on this board and saying anything negative will be them admitting they might have been at least a little bit wrong on a subject. This can never happen with this particular crowd. Then there are a minority of us that try to at least debate certain topics and argue points with a open mind. We might sway to the right or to the left based on our veiws, but we at least try to keep it somewhat civil, and actually admit when we may be wrong. When those posters get involved that is when I learn the most. But you are right, that is few and far between.
titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted March 6, 2009 You are right. Nothing ever changes, and nothing ever will. Our system of government is corrupt to the core, and irreperably broken. We will simply see the baton of power passed back and forth between the two groups of corrupt, bought and paid for political wh0res, until either the entire country collapses, or the people rise up and form a new government. Either way, I figure this government will probably keep the car between the ditches at least through my lifetime, and I'm not having kids, so fock it. Just sit back and enjoy the show. Truer words were never spoken. That's why, if posty or RP ever actually posted something of significance, it would go completely unnoticed due to the other twenty threads of nonsense they post every day. If anyone wanted to hear biased BS stories from a slanted, agenda-filled perspective, we can just go to a democratic or republican messageboard and get that. There are quite a few on the other side (democrats) as well. And I am not against them posting per se, I just wish they would at least keep an open mind. To be honest, I've been dissapointed in you these days. You have taken the "I'm vested in Obama and hated Bush so now I will stick my head in the sand" stance. In your case, I think it has to do more with some personal opposition to the RP's of the world, than actual political veiws. However you yourself are teetering in the annoying area as well due to this, whether warranted or not. When debating in these threads you act as if anyone that posts against Obama is "part of RP's cronies" or something like that. I don't know how many times you have said that. Sheesh. Brad GLuckman 519 Posted March 6, 2009 The thing that gets me is how people agree with all lines of a certain political party. Why do most people agree with a certain party on economic, foreign policy, and social issues...three sompletely separate entities yet people don't sway across the line on any of them for the most party. I find myself swaying to the left more than I used to on social issues lately, as well as some foreign policy, while running to the right on economic issues. posty 2,809 Posted March 6, 2009 Yes I am a Republican, but as I have said before, if Obama doesn't something that I think is good, I will commend him on it...

This is about the third time you've said that. When will you realize that I could care less what you think? I've been disappointed in you for years with the way you come running to the defense of every asswhole in the sporting world. Big deal. I guess that's who you are. You're another one who likes to play both sides of the fence. You jump in and join the Obama-bashing aqnd then talk about how unbiased you are. Now, (For the hundredth time) I'll explain a fallacy you have in your assessment of me and my point of view..... I am not, repeat NOT vested in Obama. I wasn't even an Obama-guy during teh primaries. I was a Hillary-guy. When McCain pretty-much said he agreed with Bush's policies on the war in Iraq and also shared his voting record 90% of the time, I knew I was going to support Obama in the GE. After teh election, when Obama was doing his doom and gloom BS, I posted on this very board that it was bad politics and that it was wrong. I have also never-once said that his econmic plan will work. I simply admitted that I don't know enough about economics to have a good opinion. I certainly feel that he and his advisors feel it will work, or at least get things going in the right direction. I ahve also stated on numerous occasions that I am basically a 'free agent' when it comes to teh 2012 election. If Obama ends up being a shitty Prez, I'll once-again be looking for a better option. I have voted Republican as many times as I have voted Democrat over teh years. That party-affiliation BS means nothing to me. If things are working, they are working. I will have no problem, whatsoever, voting for a republican next time around if they can come up with a decent candidate. As for "RP's cronies", they are not every memeber that ever agrees with one of his posts. The cronies (and you know who you are) are teh nitwits who start multiple posts a day trying to bash and bash Obama, whether it be because he uses a teleprompter or because his wife is ugly or because Hannity mentioned something on his radio show that just needed to be posted here. They are also the ones who wouldn't admit that Obama did something good even if the economy turned around in six months to be better than it wever was. I love political debate as much as anyone. But digging your heels in the ground and simply hating with no open moind is not political debate. As for 'hating Bush', I never hated him. I realized about two years ago that he was one of teh worst Presidents in US history and was in way over his head, but that was strictly political. I think he's probably a pretty cool guy to hang with, probably much more fun than Clinton would be. Hell, I voted for Bush the first time around. I am an absolute rarity around here....someone who doesn't have preconceived notions and can take every candidate and every political issue individually. J/K, of course you don't care what I think. This is a message board, we don't know each other. Nobody should really "care" what somebody on here thinks of one another. I think that is obvious. In order to beat you, make you look bad, and so on, there is no way they will agree with anything other than their party. Their party does no wrong, and the other party does no right. The 2 party system blows, and just creates a bunch of angry people. wiffleball 4,797 Posted March 6, 2009 Same for me. Many posters on here, in the news, on TV, and through out the country are Repubs or Dems....and that is it. There is no middle. Why? The country is all but rooned. Yeah, unfortunately, it's become a "zero sum" game. - Where nobody wins. I like having some farily intelligent, spirited discussions on this bored, but when I see stupid shiit where you know the poster just took something he heard on talk radio, or some soundbite mentality, it just shocks me. Like the guys who didn't even understand their own tax system the other day. - That shiit frustrates/exasperates me more than it should, but good gawd, if you're going to take shots, at least know the basics, ya know? Having said all that, it's time for my semi-regular: Thank You I've learned a lot on this bored - even from the idiots like RP. Not directly FROM them, but because of them. For instance, I had no idea that Bush tax cuts were so skewed to benefitting the uber rich - until RP said something stupid and I went out and researched it. I honestly didn't know they were as skewed as they were. And I learned something. That's happened a lot here. I'm a lot more informed not necessarily FROM this bored, but BECAUSE of it - if that makes sense. There's several guys who don't go out and research anything. You have to educate them on their own positions - and that's frustrating. These guys have no problemw having an absolutely DEAD set opinion, but no facts to support it. Like when GettinHuge talked about Healthcare and didn't even know the basics. Or guys who don't know tha Bush DOUBLED Welfare. However, all of it's made me a lot more informed. Another example: The guys from the Right who were saying "It's all the blacks" and the guys from the left (NPR) saying "it's all the young people!" - As the reason Obama won. Turns out neither of these tard groups were right. But it forced me to say "Hmm.. what WAS it? And I the research and wrote up the analysis. It was fascinating - at least to me. And I like that. I like the challenge of forcing myself to learn new things. - And these discussions - as "pointless" as they seem, end up educating you - if you want them to.
