2008 Fearless Predictions

2009 Fearless Predictions:

7. I would be amiss if didn't I include my Detroit Loins so here we go.....:drumroll: The Detroit Lions will finally win a game week two at home vs. Minnestoa. They almost won both games last year. They will be catching Minny at the right time. Early.

This team is so worthless. Controlled the first half and then absolutely imploded.

1. With the Curse of Bobby Layne lifted, the Lions will at least 8 games this year. Maybe not playoff bound, but a huge step in the right direction.

2. The Houston Texans will make the playoffs. The Titans and Jags will fight for the basement in the AFC South.

3. Minnesota will NOT make the playoffs. Favre will ride into the sunset again, Childress is fired. Adrian Peterson still puts up 2,000 yards rushing.

4. Washington will be a top 5 defense AGAIN (They were #4 in 08, yes, go check). However, they were 28th in sacks, and 17th in picks. I expect them to jump into the top 12 in both of those categories this season.

5. Mario Williams will win defensive player of the year.

6. Like the 8-8 Texans in the AFC South, the 8-8 Saints will win the NFC South.

7. The Oakland Raiders seriously contend for the AFC West. No, they won't win it (Chargers will), but the Raiders will still be in the playoff picture in December.

8. The Bengals again fail to live up to all the off-season hype they're getting. 4th place in the AFC North.

9. Brandon Marshall will be on another team before the trade deadline.

10. The Steelers repeat over the Falcons in Super Bowl 44.

Checking in at the 1/3 season mark (roughly) and I've already been pwned.

#1. Very unlikely

#2. Looking unlikely, but at least the Titans are in the basement.

#3. Very unlikely

#4. Way off-base

#5. Way off-base

#6. Looking good so far

#7. Horrible

#8. Horrible

#9. Horrible

#10. Too early to tell

Wow.

2008 Fearless Predictions

2009 Fearless Predictions:

1. San Diego v. Philadelphia Super Bowl. An inspired and retooled Philadelphia heeds the battle cry of "Win it for Jim" as in Mr. Johnson. San Diego gets their D back with Merriman. LT is good enough and Rivers leads the way. In fact.......

2. Philip Rivers is your #1 QB and league MVP. The pieces are there and he's a competitor.

3. Houston Texans go 11-5 and win the AFC South. They are becoming the total package if Schaub puts it together.

4. Percy Harvin is ROY. Minny will use him across the middle non stop to move those LBs around for AP and to limit Rosefel's mistakes with quick throws.

5. Washington Defense will be top 10 in your league and can be had in the 15th round.

6. Kevin Boss is a top 5 TE. He really showed some serious skills with Plax out. Subtract him and Ward and Eli's screaming for a security blanket until the youngsters make the grade.

7. I would be amiss if didn't I include my Detroit Loins so here we go.....:drumroll: The Detroit Lions will finally win a game week two at home vs. Minnestoa. They almost won both games last year. They will be catching Minny at the right time. Early.

1. I would say it's going to be a reach for SD to get there. Their defense is just not adequate enough. I wouldn't count out Philly though. HTF did they lose to Oakland though? Wow. A Philly v N.O. conference final would be fantastic.

2. He's played well. Not quite MVPesque but if the team gets on a roll, so could his votes.

3. 5-3 is not too shabby. It could be better but their D wasn't good early. They are warming a bit. Huge game vs. Indy this week will either make or break their divisonal possibilities. Playoffs are looking good though with this schedule.

4. Percy has been a stud and could very well nab the ROY.

5. 31st in my league. Terrible. Tremondous FAIL

6. The emergence of the young WRs has destroyed my preseason theory of his in game use. Inclement weather might increase his role in the offense going forward. He's been warming a bit lately. Too late for top 5 though.

7. Minnie had their act together much sooner than expected with Farve at the helm so this didn't happen. Lions did control the first half and had the lead but imploded in the 2nd half. Lions did catch the Skins napping a week later though. My early season win call was a partial success I guess.

Man, I was awful at this last year. Only prediction I got right was Andre Johnson leading the league in receptions and receiving yards.

Here goes:

(1) League MVP (and I hate this guy) == Phillip Rivers

(2) NFL Leader in rushing yards == LaDainian Tomlinson

(3) Carolina's Steve Smith (bum shoulder and all) leads the NFL in receiving yards, Wes Welker leads in receptions

(4) Shonn Green wins the Rookie of the Year award, Percy Harvin finishes 2nd

(5) Vince Young regains starting QB job in Tennessee by Week 6

(6) Patriots defeat Giants in the Super Bowl

Oh no, I suck again!!!

(1) probably not

(2) you gotta be kidding me. Did I type THAT?

(3) not likely for Smith, possible yes for Welker

(4) nah

(5) okay, get credit for this one

(6) doubt it.

Should be fun, I'll give this a try...

Michael Turner finishes outside the top 10 fantasy RB's for 2009 (non-ppr).

Reggie Bush plays in 50% or fewer of his teams games this year.

Peyton Hillis is the most productive RB in Denver from a fantasy standpoint.

Ravens DST is NOT a top 15 fantasy unit this year.

Colt Brennan starts at QB Washington by week 5.

In the NFL

Texans win the AFC South

Green Bay vs. New England in Superbowl

1) He's top 5 currently but has been up and down. Still looks like I blew this one.

2) Well he has played in every game thus far so I blew that one. I should have said he'd be fantasy-relevant in less than half his games played. Then I'd have been dead on.

3) Oops.

4) Currently they sit at #4 in my league though the performances have been up and down this year.

5) Oops. He got cut in preseason I think.

6) Not going to happen

7) Not likely to happen.

I sucked, thanx for playing.

1. Matt Hasselbeck is a top8 QB and Housh is a top5 WR.

2. Aaron Rodgers is the #1 QB, and Ryan Grant & Jennings finish top3 in yards for their respective positions.

3. New Orleans Saints reach the NFC championship game, but lose to the Cowboys :shocking:

4. Eddie Royal is a top10 PPR WR as he finishes with 100/1100/7.

5. TENN goes from 1st to worst in the AFC South.

6. OchoCinco is a top10 WR again as the Bengals win 8+ games.

7. Ahmad Bradshaw finishes with more fantasy points than Jacobs & Leon Washington finishes with more than T. Jones (PPR).

8. Colts beat the Cowboys in the SuperBowl as Manning wins yet another MVP :overhead:

1. Injuries killed me here.

2. Perfect call with Rodgers, not so much with Grant/Jennings

3. Possible

4. He's gonna need a big 2nd half...

5. Nailed it

6. Borderline, but that is a success

7. Was way off with the Jets, a toss up with the Giants

8. Possible

Not bad

Just so I can laugh at myself next year, I'm going to try and be bold.

Dallas makes the playoffs and wins a playoff game.

New England goes undefeated again. Until losing to Dallas in the Superbowl.

Pierre Thomas is #1 RB in PPR Fantasy leagues

Ocho Cinco is a top 10 WR and Carson Palmer significantly outperforms his ADP.

Tampa Bay finishes season with worst record in NFL. Even worse than... The Raiders.

Rookie of the Year... Donald Brown.

Last but not least.... not 1 of my above predictions come true.

Dallas should and could

People underestimate how unique and unattainable a perfect season is. We might not see it in our lifetime.

Pierre is a top 10 talent reduced to part time status because of his team's depth and offensive philosophy.

Pretty much on the mark as much as that pains me.

Tampa isn't the worst but could certainly finish as such

Nope. Donald is talented but they don't need him. Yet.

More rights than wrongs so far. Nice job.

Peterson will break the all time rushing record

Philip Rivers will not finish in the top 5 of fantasy QB's

Steven Jackson will surpass 2,000 total yds and play every game this season

The Denver Broncos will be lucky to win 4 games this year

Kurt Warner will get hurt but the Cards still win the division with Leinart

There they are, we'll see how crazy this looks at the end of the year.

Nope. But he's going to challenge it someday.

He's 8th in my league and knocking on the door because his team is improving. This could be a fail.

Not sure where he stands at getting 2k but it's been a good year despite the lack of TDs.

Yeah.........we all missed the boat on that one.

Cardinals win the division and the often underestimated Warner keeps on keeping on.

1. LT will be the top fantasy back in PPR formats.

2. Donald Brown will be the majority shareholder of carries in Indy by week 5.

3. The Jets will win the AFC East.

4. Brian Robiskie will be the top rookie WR.

5. Eddie Royal leads the league with 119 catches.

6. Panthers over Chargers in the Super Bowl.

7. D-ROY Brian Orakpo

8. O-ROY Mark Sanchez

hahah this is BAD

1. umm ok hes starting to play better now but this is not close by a longshot

2. i almost thought i had nailed this but then Brown went down with the injury.

3. looked good thru 3 or 4 weeks

4. HAH

5. makes me sick

6. Chargers looking good, Delhomme is garbage

7. could still come true

8. Was also looking good for 3 or 4 weeks.

2) Colt Brennan will become the starting QB for the Redskins by mid-season -1

4) The Ravens will be in the Super Bowl

5) The Panthers will be in the Super Bowl

1. Tom Brady will be back with a vengeance, while Matt Cassel flops miserably away from Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Bill Belichick.

2. The last team to win a game will be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it could take until a December visit from the Jets before they notch that first win.

3. Some team will show their desperation and sign Matt Jones, who has had a string of police run-ins, with inconsistent hands and poor route running. That team (my guess--St. Louis) will live to regret it.

4. Michael Vick will not attempt a pass in 2009. That does not mean he won’t be playing somewhere...probably Carolina (just a guess).

5. The Bengals break a long-running string and have zero players arrested during the season. That dubious string dates back to 1996, believe it or not.

It's some kind of spam. I looked at the website in the sig and it's more of a clusterfock than just about anything I've ever seen.

The lead story on the Top NFL News website is an article grading the Patriots 2009 draft (written in April).

They do have a couple 2010 NFL mocks. One of them advertises six rounds but I only see 11 picks. :D

At first, I thought it might be some kind of NFL site for foreigners (the Engrish comes off as Portuguese in quite a few spots) but don't really get that, either.

It has NFL plastered everywhere so it looks like it's licensed....but I have a hard time believing the NFL would have anything to do with that site.

A lot of the content is written by "joanna". Maybe joanna is really just Emmit Smith.

2008 Fearless Predictions

Last year, I nailed the Cardinals winning their division. Could anyone have guessed they'd go a lot further? After a record setting year, I tempered people's expectations for Randy Moss (10Tds predicted and that was with Brady in the fold) He ended up with 11 because somehow, some way, people come back to Earth after such years it seems. I predicted big things for Kevin Smith and all though he wasn't the ROY, pretty much lived up to the expecations. Pittsburgh made the super but N.O. and their D let me down.

Ryan Grant bust--- partial FAIL (Good yardage but only 4 TDs)

Lions make the playoffs--- I could not FAIL worse

Arrington--- Back in the fold this year after the IR but seems to be a long shot to get any playing time for 2009 so FAIL

Early.

1. Contenders turned pretenders in the end

2. Borderline MVP in a normal year but superlative performances (Brees,Manning,CJ) negated his chances

3. 9-7 on paper sounds good but you can't help to feel they disappointed though.

4. Harvin does nab it.

5. Absolutely not

6. Receivers stepped up big time which devalued him. I think he was underutilized.

7. The win came in game 3 v. Wash so it was early, just not early enough.

Most of the predictions seemed to have a legit chance and were close but mostly fails. There's always next year.
