TheNewGirl 1,637 Posted April 20, 2011 Oh so youre just like every other girl with a tat? Figures....very original. I guess if that's how you choose to look at it... But it really doesn't matter to me what other people think about whether or not I have a tattoo. I have two, they are small, and I have thought about getting another (two more small ones that have to do with my kids), but I haven't found the right area to have them done in, etc. I don't really care if I am original or not. There is so much trendy shit out there that by not being trendy, you ARE being trendy. I also have a cart piercing that I've had since I was 13 (before it became all popular and shit). Also used to have my noise pierced, but took it out for my c-section and never put it back. Have thought about getting more piercings, but my husband is turned off to that idea. So, I won't. Ok well heres my question...and help me understand. You want to get a tat of your kids. Ok fine. but why? Do you love them MORE because you have a tat of them? Do people not know you love your kids? is it for people to ask you about and then you have a reason to talk about your kids? I say that in all seriousness bc i cant fathom why people get marked up the way they do...for the reasons they do.
Mookz 1,374 Posted April 20, 2011 I never managed to succumb to the ink.....though I regret not getting my unit inked on like many of my fellow Marines after desert storm "Riders on the Storm" I totally read this wrong. Same here, and I didn't even realize it until your post. I thought his fellow marines got "riders on the storm" tattooed on their weiners. Personally I wouldn't make it past "ride" which actually wouldn't be that bad.

mobb_deep 920 Posted April 21, 2011 ..."and I have thought about getting another (two more small ones that have to do with my kids" Reading comprehension moron.....itsatip dipsh!t 1) Tats OF YOUR KIDS (like a portrait or profile) and tats that HAVE TO DO WITH THE KIDS are two completely separate things... For instance... I have a tattoo of a tree with an owl in it. The owl represents me and the tree represent my daughter (as she's growing and ever changing like a tree and I'm on constant watch in the background like an owl). It doesn't say her name or have her picture anywhere, but is completely dedicated to her. 2) There's no such thing as a good or bad reason to get "marked up". It's a completely personal decision that has no effect on anyone else. If someone wants to get a big ass pecker on their face, because they got hit with a flying rubber phallus once, that's a perfectly good reason! People don't get tattoo's to show to others or make some sort of statement to the world. They get them because they like them and it's their focking body, period! My tats are only visible to me, because they're for me! I don't give a hoot if people see them, or don't see them. Don't tread on me!

Tat people do the same thing over and over...seen it a million times. Get a tat.....everybody asks them about it or they just offer the info on it themselves.......time goes by...nobody gives a sh!t about their tat.....what do they do? Go get another tat. Repeat. They can say its for themselves.....but its for attention....big time. But....its not nearly as fun as telling people you are courageous or strong......cute chinese symbols on your arm get asked about. But hey...whatever does it for you people..... (And jesus.....tats of or about your kids or a tat referring to your kids......we're not talking quantum physics here....and the question still stands.....why cant you just tell people about your kids?) Because people have this thing called "free will" and the right to express themselves in any way they choose, as long as it's not to the detriment of others. You might live in some socialist utopia where everyone wears the fuhrers government approved clothing, but here in America we have our own individual identities and the right to think freely. You asking "why can't you just tell people about your kids" is no different than me saying "why can't you just get a tattoo that represents your kids". You not having any tattoo's is just as retarded to me as having them is retarded to you. Funny how that works isn't it? Freedom is pretty amazing!
NewbieJr 541 Posted April 21, 2011 So to answer the original thread question, no one seems to regret any of their tattoos, but they sure as hell bother Cyclone24. ROFL
OldMaid 2,135 Posted April 21, 2011 Try thinking of it this way... You don't wear the same boring white shirt every day do you? No. You buy clothes that reflect your personal style and say something about yourself. You don't live in a house that has no furniture or art on your walls do you? No. You buy stuff that you like and put stuff on the walls that mean something to you. It's NOT about getting attention...

It's not 1965 anymore chief. I'm a software engineer for a very conservative Fortune 500 company. Unlike the hot chick with no skills making six figures, my body has never been the cause of or reason for anything I have/haven't accomplished in my career. I have a high paying job because I'm a good engineer with a solid education background and decorated resume. The VP of my department is covered in tats and makes easily 175k. I also work with several other engineers with tats, who all make 100k+. You keep on believing that you're doing yourself some sort of favor by dressing and acting like a complete tool though. Wouldn't want reality to get in the way of your unfounded generalizations and overall ignorance.

We should totally be kissing military "personell" (whatever that is) ass for their career choice. It's completely different than anyone else making any other career choice. That's because they're protecting us from imaginary terrorists in 3rd world countries! Oh... and a career in some branches of the military doesn't even require a GED (let alone a diploma). Only cashiers at the finest fast food restaurants can hold up to those strict standards. Anyways, you're the guy with the strong feelings on tats. "Oh its for the art"...pffft..please....most people ive seen that have tats wouldnt have the first clue about actual "art". Most people get tats simply because they think they look cool. Kind of how I put a a tree in my front yard, just cuz it looks cool. Believe me, I didn't plant the tree for attention. Bland blank canvases are boring to most people. You probably hang stuff on your walls, and it's not for the sake of "art" or "attention". Tattoo people just take it a step further. We view our skin as another canvas.
