Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

Now I want a shutout - even though Stafford is my FF QB. No more talk of this D being weak. This D plays as well as it needs to play.

The D is weak, are you watching the game? The Lions had 202 yards in the first half on that D. They shot themselves in the foot and were victim of a couple of bad penalties that kept them from at least getting field goals.

The offense is the best in the league, but the D needs to play much better.

*ETA* woot! Pick #3~

Defense is as good as it wants to be.

I dont think this 1 game is going to change many minds on that.

Your wish is Green Bay's command.

It's not just this one game.

Here's how this D plays: they take huge chances, to force turnovers. Green Bay has a QB who nearly never gives up the ball. This D plays for extra possessions for Rodgers, and pressures the other QB to make mistakes in attempts to catch up - which none have yet done.

They play as well as they need to play. If they want to lock someone down, they appear to possess the ability to play that style as well.

Incredible play by Woodson - the old man can still play........ This game is over.

Correction, the Lions got their asses kicked all over the field against the Bears.

Not a chance. Take away the two TDs Stafford threw directly to the Bears and the fact that our punter kicked directly to the best punt returner in the league and the game is 16-13 Bears. Your analysis is flawed.

I really need that magic glove to get some garbage TD's....these 5 points aren't a good start for me

Yeah - and I started Kevin Smith as my FLEX also. Stafford really needs some garbage time TDs for me, and not to 81.

I wish I could get 5 points outta Stafford, -2 so far.

If you take away the Lions TD and FG's the Bears win 37-0

That sounds like code for they can't stop teams from putting up huge yards. The stats pretty much prove that.

The O is phenomenal, the D, not so much..

It's absurd to argue otherwise.

The ifs and buts game eh?

What about the garbage time points the Lions got when the Bears were busy getting blown by cheerleaders after the 3rd quarter?

That game was a thumping in every way and the Lions were completely outmatched. No ifs and or buts about it.

Of course it's not absurd - because I never said they don't give up a ton of yards. Why do you think I would have started Stafford instead of Romo?

They play the way they play: they give up yards in exchange for chances at turnovers.

That said, they adjust their D now for good offenses. In this case, they've SHUT DOWN one of the best O's in the NFL for 3 quarters - and in their house.

Bad Ds are not capable of that.

Lets get real here and have a little objectivity... The Lions moved the ball all over them in the first half and the worst rushing team in the league is averaging over 6 yards per carry. Yes, they are doing a great job keeping the offense out of the end zone, but they have had a lot of help in this particular game.

0 points in 3 quarters is the result here. That's what I'm referring to.

Yeah I get that, but it's not always that black and white. Sometimes you have to go beyond the box score.

Agreed, but there was no crying or excuses after the Bears were thumped. When you are down 37-6 late in the game there are no woulda, shoulda, couldas

i don't think the packers are going to run into team in the playoffs that routinely hand them ball games week in and week out. i also doubt rodgers will run into 3rd-string safeties that routinely bite on the play action despite the packers having zero for a running game. but give shooter credit: he sure did look all-world against the lions 3rd stringers in the secondary today.

that defense was exposed in the first half. if the lions had shot themselves in the foot repeatedly, it wouldn't have been the same old routine for the packers (get a lead, get good field position, sit back and take advantage of a team trying to push the ball too hard).

i like the lions and where they're going. i like stafford in the long-term. schwartz and mayhew are building it right.

*probably* now looking 9-7 at best (maybe still an outside at 10-6 if they beat new orleans, but that's going to be a tall order given they're down to 3rd-stringers in the secondary and at rb). the injuries are getting to be just way too much. quite ridiculous, actually. that said, that's still on track for where they should be: 0-16, 2-14, 6-10, 9-7 (?)

so buck up, lion fans. there's a lot to be thankful for this turkey day  there's room for improvement.

packers? this is the high point of their run. rodgers will never put up these kinds of stats again; they'll never be 11-0 at this point in the season. they sure as hell better make this pretty season count. i have my doubts given that defense and the quality of teams they'll face come playoff time.

but this is that team's high water mark this year. better seize the day.

not saying they won't compete in the years to come. but it's a bit ridiculous how it's all falling into place for them right now. even cheeseheads know that. and the lions, bears, and vikings are only getting better.

K.Smith = high ankle sprain (doubtful) says Jimmy Johnson.

that guy--and the lions rbs in general--are cursed.

too bad too. he was tearing through the porous pack d pretty good before he went down. typical.

You're wearing silver and blue shaded glasses right now. The refs are bad in this game; they're calling some tight, and some stupid.

But it's going both ways. There was no offensive pass interference call on Greg Jennings either, but they called it.

And VandenBosch drove Rodgers into the turf. You can't do that. He got a clean shot on him, and didn't let up at all.

nice mustard-colored glasses on your part. the series just before that, matthews did the EXACT same thing to stafford and no flag.

but god forbid anyone touch shooter. put a pink hanky in that guy's pocket. might as well. the nfl is essentially calling it that way on him.

Stomped a Packer who was on the ground.

if he's going to do that, at least do it to someone who matters--like shooter mcgavin :dunno:

202 yards...0 points and only got to the 30 once for the missed FG.

Yes...there were penalties...thats on Detroit for those.

They kept them out of the redzone too.And last time I checked...to win, keeping another team out of the endzone works pretty well.

Predictable excuses...defense exposed in the 1st half?

Giving up dink and dunks and yards but never allowing the opposing team past the 30.

I hope our defense gets exposed like that every week.

This is the high point of Green Bay's run?

Beating the Lions? Funny, I recall them hoisting a trophy last February that is much more important than beating a dirty immature team like the Lions.

They are around the 2nd-4th youngest team in the league. Most of key guys locked up in long term deals and the best player in the league behind them in center.

You can live in your dream world all you want...but its not shocking all you did was make excuses.

Oh no...your secondary was hurt.

Guess what, Clay Matthews was our only healthy starter at LB. They were throwing out rookies and special teamers.

GB had 15 people hit the IR last year and won it all.

You prove what you are...a d-bag whiner.

A. Matthews' hit did not "look" as bad.

B. Notice what I put in quotes...IMO the ref saw Rodgers head go back with KVB's helmet at his chest and called it for that.

C. It was a bad call...however...they could have called a legit roughing/late hit on the next play.

D. That was not offensive PI on Jennings on that play either.

you should focus your attention on who is going to play qb for the bears, not who will be lining up for the lions at dt the remainder of the season

3 games for that--for a guy who hasn't been suspended before? lol. hypocrisy and double standards are alive and well in the nfl, so nothing would surprise me. but, no, he *shouldn't* be suspended 3 games.

i'd assume then the packer player kicked out in the first half will also be suspended 3 games? nah, of course not. like sho says: whatever the lions do is obviously worse and cheesed!ck behavior don't stink.

whatev.

this SEASON is the packers high point--both for them and rodgers. unless you think the packers are going to go undfeated every year and rodgers will throw 50 tds every year.

but i'm sure cheesed!cks do think that way. my bad.

the packers better not blow this year. if you think the pats a couple of years ago got ribbed for choking. whoa boy.

thing is, that pat team was a much better all-around team, too.

Yet another lie.

BTW...Lee should have been ejected, but it was close...a Lion also threw the same type of "punch" as he did.

Could be a suspension but doubt it.

Im guessing 1-2 for Suh.

I think Rodgers can very well throw a lot of TDs every single year. Will he throw 50? Doubtful.

but he will be one of the top QBs year in and year out.

Going to talk about Stafford some more? Hah!!!

If they blow it this year...sure it will suck. Playing with house money right now thought with the last title.

Great how it pisses you off though. You have gone past old swamp and basically turned into a poster worse than sweetness.

yes, i am happy with the lions under mayhew and schwartz--all the way from where they started a few short years ago (0-16) to now. happy with where they're going. and i'm very happy with stafford and where he is at this point in his young career and where he's going. you don't have to be. free country. fock yourself often and hard

My point was in the Stafford thread and this week all you could do was deflect any criticism of his INTs the last 2 weeks...and he threw 3 more today.

He is a good young QB...but you go on about him more than Packer fans have about Rodgers on this board.

oh, you always have a point somewhere, don't you? always. you must be such a joy to live with--especially on a day you should be happy.

there were people saying stafford's broken finger and glove were causing him to throw ints in the panther game. i correctly pointed out (and go look up the video) that his ints were decision based and not accuracy based in that game. really isn't arguable, except for a petty fock like you.

stafford is a good young qb. there are a lot of threads about him--none started by me. you don't have to believe it. it's a free country. we've been through this.

the only reason you won't talk about the packers and instead obsess about the lions is that you, like all packer fans, are holding your chickshiat breaths waiting for this all to fall apart and the packers to choke away with this dream season.

THAT is THE reason.

the. end.
