Mike MacGregor 20 Posted August 10, 2012 They still probably won't run much, but this is a pretty big indictment of James Starks. Thoughts Starks looked like a value play not long ago.
Flgatorguy87 160 Posted August 10, 2012 Wish I was drafting soon cause I could take him late and not worry about the gamble. Starks certainly has not impressed so it's not surprising they added. I just wonder if he will be a situational back and this is now a RBBC.
RicemanX 20 Posted August 10, 2012 Instant Top 20 back? yes. Three straight 1000 yard games. I definitely see him being able to do well in GB. They have no faith in James Starks. Top 15-20 this season.
Laurence Maroney's Nuts 2 Posted August 10, 2012 And he tweets: "Cedric Benson is in Green Bay, expected to sign with #Packers, per sources" Instant Top 20 back? Pfffffw, now I won't have to go back and forth debating who to take at #4 now!
jocstrap 8 Posted August 10, 2012 yes. Three straight 1000 yard games. I definitely see him being able to do well in GB. They have no faith in James Starks. Top 15-20 this season. I've been reading all offseason how Starks has not impressed. Then he fumbles early last night - - all that equals NOT GOOD for his chances being the main guy. The Hood 9 Posted August 10, 2012 If this transpires, I hardly see a GB RB worth drafting. This. Has anyone with these high hopes for Benson ever watched him or the Packers offense play before? A good match it is not. Maybe a few good games running the clock in blowouts but this will be a RBBC for a pass first (and second) offense. Benson will not be the guy getting many catches. montana 89 Posted August 11, 2012 He might be an upgrade but I won't be in a rush to put him on my squad. Maybe late?
Criper 24 Posted August 11, 2012 Why not just bring back Grant? He's the same age as Benson and already knows the offense. I was high on Starks this off season, but it doesn't sound like he has a lot of heart. Kuhn will probably still lead the GB RB's in TD's.
Raider 84 29 Posted August 11, 2012 Starks must really suck to bring in Cedric. I see RBBC. I like Green to emerge if he gets an opportunity.

Boilermaker04 11 Posted August 11, 2012 Benson in the backfield means more short passes to receivers. +1 Finley/Nelson?

IGotWorms 3,450 Posted August 11, 2012 Cedric Benson is done. Stick a fork in him. Green Bay was desperate to even bring in this washed up has-been. Starks obviously sucks. What this really means is that Alex Green might not be the late-round gem some were hoping for.

c9h13no3 0 Posted August 11, 2012 Thoughts Starks looked like a value play not long ago. Yep. The wind is totally out of those sails, along with Alex Green a little bit. The whole Packer's backfield is now worthless in fantasy IMO.
ralphster 274 Posted August 11, 2012 If this transpires, I hardly see a GB RB worth drafting. Agreed. Benson/Starks/Green will pick up some garbage time stats in blowouts, but nothing worthy of rostering.

MDC 5,990 Posted August 11, 2012 1. Pass happy team 2. Mediocre stable of backs 3. RBBC with no one RB assured of more than 150-200 rushes 4. Goal line specialist (Kuhn) who otherwise barely touches the ball There's nothing to see here.
windycityguy 1 Posted August 11, 2012 Benson is a back that needs 25 carries to a mass any yardage. He has little to know break away speed. Even at the goal line he is of know value. This seems like a total fantasy waste. Wouldn't draft him in the last round.
thePRO 78 Posted August 11, 2012 I think he can be a number 2. Who knows...remember Grant? He'd do well when he was healthy. Maybe Benson will get a lot of easy yards with a spread offense causing a dime defense which is susceptible to draws and such... Definitely worth the risk in the latter half of the draft. Vikings4ever 496 Posted August 11, 2012 If Starks had kept his head out of his azz, he would have been worthwhile in PPR leagues as a poor man's Darren Sproles. Now, the entire position will likely be worthless.
