Mike Honcho 5,345 Posted April 15, 2013 Nope. She wasn't competitive. She was multiple laps down and only due to the shortness of the track and the wave around rule did she even get back on the lead lap. Then, because other drivers were actually trying to WIN the race and pitted late she was able to sneak up in to the top fifteen. I mean, seriously, you all want to say how great TWELFTH is. That's sad. And again, it was due to gimmicks. And I'm not a Danica Patrick hater. Trust me, I was hearing about her at the track years before any of you knew about her. I rooted for her, and still do. But I think it's unfortunate that deserving drivers don't get the opportunity that she's taking from them simply because she attracts sponsors. But we'll see how long that lasts if she's never up front and sitting 28th in the standings in a year or two. I watched the entire race and I'm aware that she was 2 laps down. The wave around and lucky dog are part of racing... And yes, other drivers BEHIND here pitted for fresh tires and yet were still unable to pass her. Sorry, but finishing 12th in a first attempt at Martinsville is great, better than all the drivers I mentioned before who did finish laps down. Finally, don't presume to know me or what I know about racing, you have no idea how much racing I have watched in my life. And FYI- I really don't like her and hope she falls flat on her face, but I can admit when she performed way above expectations.

I'll bet that I know more about racing than both you and Strike put together. Broad range, not just NASCAR.

GobbleDog 1,006 Posted April 16, 2013 I don't know if Danica deserves credit for being a talented driver or it shows how little it takes to be a NASCAR driver. But this is the only sport I've ever heard of where a woman competed at the top level with men. Hell, even in CHESS where it's entirely mental ability, women don't compete at the highest level. Poor girls. It's like they're handicapped or something.

Strike 5,846 Posted April 21, 2013 I'm changing my stance on her being in the Sprint Cup series. Her on board camera is a great vantage point for the replays of people in front of her crashing. It's great that she's always behind everyone so we can all get the benefit of watching through her windshield. Viva la Danica.

SUXBNME 1,583 Posted May 6, 2013 Talladega: 31st place in race, 27th place in overall standings. I was impressed that she missed the first "big one", though. Also in Saturdays Nationwide race: 39th place

SUXBNME 1,583 Posted July 27, 2015 In fairness to her, she's doing better than last year, or the year before. 22 place in the standings out of 26 or so. (legit drivers / teams) 2 top 10s and only 1 dnf. Even beating her boss, Tony Still not competitive, tho.

I'm just glad they stopped spending as much time talking about her, despite her typically running in the 20's or 30's, as they do about Junior. It was pretty sickening when they used to fawn all over her due to her hype and not based upon anything she had EVER done on the track. And she's lost her sponsorship after this year. Will be interesting to see how the off season goes if she finishes where she is now in the standings.

Strike 5,846 Posted July 27, 2015 GoDaddy dropped her? Wow. Didn't know that. I wonder if they are going to quit Nascar all together? Mainly leaving NASCAR I think. But is anyone else gonna want to sponsor someone who can't even break the top 20 consistently? http://www.nascar.com/en_us/news-media/articles/2015/4/29/danica-patrick-godaddy-sponsorship-2016.html

Mike Honcho 5,345 Posted April 26, 2016 Nope, but she is consistent I'll give her that. Aside from discussing an extremely over-rated driver who has reached her ceiling, what did you think of Edwards move on Sunday? My 2 cents, at Richmond acceptable, but....that was an overly agressive bump and run, had it been a lesser driver than Busch, he loses control of that car. Also, based on his previous reactions him saying that he would have been okay with it if the positions were reveresed, I found a little hard to believe.
