MTSkiBum 1,620 Posted August 17, 2013 I am going to be buying a truck as well. I test drove a 2003 Toyota Tundra today with 140,000 miles. It was only 7,700 but the tires were shot, and the timing belt has never been changed. You are playing with fire not changing the timing belt on the toyota v8, and new tires are 1,000 dollars. I passed on this truck.

The Taco I'm getting has a timing chain, so I'm good with that. Love the Tundras, tho. Pretty amazing how well Toyota Trucks hold their value
SUXBNME 1,458 Posted August 17, 2013 (assuming you still haven't had a vehicle in a while) I've had my 96 Toy SR5 4x4 for it seems like forever. Never been without a vehicle. BunnysBastatrds 2,321 Posted August 17, 2013 Congrats. I may be getting a 2012 explorer with20,000 miles on it. Was looking at new one but decided 38 grand is to much for them.

Or we would meet some where in the middle with our respective non gas using modes of transportation. Either way, I still haven't read A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthurs Court yet. You? lickin_starfish 1,894 Posted August 17, 2013 I just got a 2011 Ram 1500 Longhorn with a 5.7 Hemi. Under 8k miles, under $25k. She's a gold and chrome loaded beauty.

I've got 4 of those in my court (not 2011, but the same engine) Do you have the one with 16 spark plugs? I'm not sure if that is still the deal with the newer 5.7s Either way, good truck

DankNuggs 305 Posted August 18, 2013 Congrats. I may be getting a 2012 explorer with20,000 miles on it. Was looking at new one but decided 38 grand is to much for them. The new explorers are really nice, big an expensive. The Edges are nice as well but about as function as a sedan. I'd check out the new gen grand Cherokees, very nice with the leather and tech packages. I'd also go Acura MDX ahead of the American suv's. Drive one with the tech package. Buy one a couple years used w/ 20-30 k miles CPO up to 100k. Bulletproof, best AWD in the market
DankNuggs 305 Posted August 18, 2013 15.5k for a truck w 100k miles sounds like a lot but I don't know trucks

I don't trust any Ford Truck in that year range with a 4.6L , 5.4L or the 6.0 Powerstoke Diesel. Actually, I'll up that to late 00's models. Parrot speaketh the troof on this one. Parrot speaketh the troof on this one. Didn't the 5.7Ls have a lot of head gasket and spark plug problems as well? My 97 5.7L blew a head gasket at 50k due to a mismanufactured head, and my FIL finally sold his 98 because it kept blowing sparkplugs out of the head.
