++ Update: Jordan Todman? - MJD is Active

Recommended Posts

Did Schefter play poker with the Jags coaching staff last night? Clear case of a reporter being put on camera too early in the morning.....and being forced to make stupid comments about players.

I saw it on NFL network as well.

DAMN!!!

Maurice Jones-Drew expected to play (8:44 a.m. ET): ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring, questionable) is expected to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16. This is actually frustrating news to fantasy owners, because it clouds the team's running-back picture when RB Jordan Todman would have been a perfectly adequate RB2 if the only one of the two active. The Florida Times-Union's Hays Carlyon suggested on Friday that Todman would start this week regardless of Jones-Drew's status, so the team's plan at running back remains unclear regardless of Jones-Drew's promising report. It could be a straight split of the chores, which would make the Jaguars a no-go for fantasy.

so i take it this means sit todman?

I don't have much of a choice. It's between him and Joique Bell. For my last spot.

Ugh.

So, what's the play here if you have both Todman and MJD and need to use one? Roll with MJD as the nominal "starter", or gamble that Todman will still get the majority of the touches regardless of MJD's status?

At least if MJD had practiced all week and looked healthy, you could figure on him resuming his normal role and play him with some confidence. But a last-minute active after barely doing anything all week...yikes.

The best part is, MJD has his own fantasy football show on SiriusXM, so he is totally aware of what this does to MJD/Todman owners.

I can't fathom why a guy who was not healthy enough to put in a full practice all week is suddenly healthy enough to play a meaningless game for a 4-10 team.

If you HAD to go with one, I'd say the starter. But I wld consider trying to get someone from waivers like Dennis Johnson if possible. Who knows what will happen with JAX RB sitution. Worst timing possible. I had Todman dammit.

Im rolling with MJD and not Todman. I am having to start MJD and Richardson at RB1 and RB2 this week in 3rd place game :wall:

Maurice Jones-Drew (hamstring) is starting Sunday's game against the Titans.

Beat writer Hays Carlyon has had a good read on this situation recently, especially from a fantasy perspective. He expects Jones-Drew to get around 16 touches and Jordan Todman to be limited to 8-10. That projection assumes the Jags are going to sustain drives and get their running backs around 25 total touches, which is certainly no sure thing. Ideally, owners will simply avoid this timeshare because the upside is capped.

Friend of mine texted a local beat writer tweet that suggested MJD with ~ 16 touches and Todman ~8-10 with both going down if game gets out of hand. Both are seeing my bench and rolling Andre Brown at RB1 with 4 WRs in flex. Yay! :shocking:

Well, I have no choice but to go with MJD. He's confirmed as the starter and projected to get the majority of touches. So he's either going to be a hero or go down in fantasy bowl infamy for this little stunt.
