Flgatorguy87 160 Posted September 25, 2013 Every Gronk owner is salivating watching the Pats offense sputter and spit without this guy in the lineup. Is this the week he comes back, and if he plays is he a must start no matter the "rust" he might be shaking off? I know it seems like a silly question, but many people, myself included have Cameron playing extremely well in his absence. Its a tough spot I think many owners are in. seh2000 5 Posted September 25, 2013 Problem is that they are a Sunday night game...he will likely be game time decision. If I knee he was playing...he's in my lineup!
Serpent 51 Posted September 25, 2013 I only have two other TEs in leagues with him, Julius Thomas and Martellus Bennet. Probably start him over Bennett, and if healthy both of them, but do I risk it? I mean those are not bad TE options at all.
Ray_T 797 Posted September 25, 2013 If he starts, he wont be playing every down. I'd give him at least a game or two to shake off the rust. He wont be 100% and he wont be in game shape. I wouldnt start him unless I had absolutely no other choice.
IGotWorms 4,063 Posted September 25, 2013 I think he's a must-start unless you have Cameron or Graham. Really, if he's not a must-start for you then you should probably try to trade him after he comes back and has a huge game.
IGotWorms 4,063 Posted September 25, 2013 I think he's a must-start unless you have Cameron or Graham. I absolutely disagree with the above poster-- Gronk will hit the ground running. He's been practicing in a limited capacity for weeks now and is obviously already comfortable in the offense. Really, if he's not a must-start for you then you should probably try to trade him after he comes back and has a huge game.
Ray_T 797 Posted September 25, 2013 if hes fully healthy and in game shape of course hes a must start. right now its questionable if he will play, and I suspect because hes not in game shape he'll be lucky to play much more than half the downs. Hes not a player you wanna trade, but if you have another decent option I'd say you probably wanna go with this for this week only. that's all I'm saying. Flgatorguy87 160 Posted September 25, 2013 Opinions all over the board...pretty much what I expected. Belichek just makes this situation that much more difficult.
Fantasy Noob 10 Posted September 26, 2013 I think you have to start him if he is playing. My reasons are as follows: 1. Brady is a to the rookies, he misses Welker more than anyone cares to admit. Gronk will be a welcome familiar face. 2. That rush attack just sucks, they are going to have to throw it more than they want. ( you Ridley get your shat together ) 3. There are four patriots averaging over 5 targets a game, so there is some statistical evidence that the offense is skewed towards the pass more than most of us expected in the preseason. I think most of us expected them to ride Ridley/Vereen to even out the offense. 4. Way too much upside here to pass up, as others as have commented what TE's are you sitting him for? lickin_starfish 2,027 Posted September 26, 2013 I have Gronk and Jared Cook, but Cook has shat the bed for two weeks in a row now (and he faces SF this week).
Flgatorguy87 160 Posted September 26, 2013 4. Way too much upside here to pass up, as others as have commented what TE's are you sitting him for? Cameron? Nobody can bench him right now...can you?

The running game will probably improve with Gronk's return: he is a fantastic run blocker.
Filthy Fernadez 2,696 Posted September 26, 2013 I have Gronk in the league where I landed Julius Thomas so I can afford a wait and see attitude.
Fireballer 2,693 Posted September 26, 2013 Im needy at QB and i have Gronk and JT. What QBs would Gronk fetch before he plays a down? Or should i send JT packing? 6pt pass tds standard scoring.
stonewall 647 Posted September 26, 2013 Read a report today that stated that Gronk looks thin while practicing. He has been limited in his weight lifting regime due to the back/arm. Hard not to start him, but I could envision a scenario where he needs a little time to get back up to strength/speed.
tanatastic 2,062 Posted September 26, 2013 I have Gronk in the league where I landed Julius Thomas so I can afford a wait and see attitude.Absolutely start Julius if gronk is a gametime decision. Risk is far less. Here's a complete list of te I'd start over gronk if no word on sun.. Graham Orange Julius Cameron With Finley...I'd think about it but prob lean gronk, although it could be a tough decision. That's it, everyone else is a sketchy bum that a gronk goose egg won't make u want to jump out a window.
jjbeve 0 Posted September 26, 2013 I have Gronk and Martellus Bennet. I'm leaning towards Bennet. He had two really good games and then last week was a stinker. Anyone watch that gaem? Did they use him as mostly a blocker against the Steelers? Can't wait to have Gronk in my lineup.
wezvidz 2 Posted September 26, 2013 Worst case scenario this week. I have to decide by tonight what to do, as Cook is my non-Gronk TE, and of course he plays Thursday night against a tougher D. I probably have to start Cook because if Gronk's 60/40 chance of starting goes south on Sunday, I'm screwed.
Criper 24 Posted September 26, 2013 if Gronk's 60/40 chance of starting goes south on Sunday, I'm screwed. As a Gronk owner, this is why Charles Clay is the TE to pick up or trade for. If Gronk, doesn't go on Sunday, Clay can be plugged in on Monday.

This is actually a very solid strategy. I have Gronk/Heath Miller in one league and am probably going to go with Miller this week since he's off snap count, and since Jordan Cameron shredded the same Vikings defense last week and now Miller gets them. But that's pretty much the only reason for doing it. I had Clay on the same team but dropped him favor of Miller, admittedly without giving consideration to what Criper astutely pointed out. Ha, I have Gronk/Miller too in a league. Clay was owned, so I tried to trade for Clay, but got rejected. I didn't wanted to give up a lot since I view it as a one week solution, so I picked up Heath instead, and will most likely start Heath for the same reasons you mentioned. GreenTD 56 Posted September 26, 2013 I also have Gronk/Bennett. Until I see a game from him, I'm going to roll with Bennett in the meantime. How many snaps do people think Gronk is going to see in his first game back? I'd optimally hope for 66% of the snaps until he gets back into game shape. Practice isn't a game folks. Graham was too high a price to pay, Cameron went before I could pull the trigger. So I end up with Fred Davis in all my leagues...that's working out very well. I gambled on Gronk in one (in the late 6th of a 12 teamer when the value was too good to pass up) and ended up picking up Heath Miller in it and another league off WW. Guy was a top 5 TE last season, but I didn't start out with the intention of having the MASH unit TE corps. It's rather frustrating right now but I'm hopeful that it pays off in the 2nd half of the season.
