OK, I will START the official weekly WW PU's on Monday with out fail... lets start

Recommended Posts

I am looking forward to your suggestions.... Let me start off by saying since the Giants won and have hope now, I think Andre Brown could be a starter for you as soon as week 10. Lets be mindful of helping people out with one week fill ins due to Byes as well... primarily QB's.

What do you guys think about Marvin Jones? Obviously 4 TDs this week was a fluke, but he has now caught a TD in 3 consecutive games and Dalton seems to trust him. With defenses keying on AJ, I could see Jones continuing to get his share of targets.

Tim Wright had a solid game this week, and with Mike Williams going on season-ending IR, I think he'll be a decent play for the rest of the season. I lost Finley and now Orange Julius with the ankle injury and bye week, so I think Wright is my top WW target this week.

Guys like Marvin Jones and Terrance Williams are killing me as a Green and Dez owner. In both cases it seems the QB's don't feel like making a risky throw into double coverage so they throw it to those guys.... Although both could win a 2 on 1 battle. I hate to admit it but I think going forward Jones and Williams will get theirs and be a nice # 3 WR. Especially if their is a shut down corner involved or talk of the opposing team taking out Green or Dez. I love Tim Wright, I was a Finley owner too but got Reed off the WW, Wright was my second choice. That is true since Wright was a WR and now Williams out that should be a good play for ya going forward

As for WRs, Marvin Jones is rostered in my league, as is T. Williams.

I will be targeting Kenny Stills with my high waiver priority. I think he is bad news for you Colston owners.

Underwood and Wright get a bump w MW on IR.

OAK dst versus Matt Barkley.

Something tells me Seth McGrath gets better.

I like Oakland D against Barkley for sure. If Dalton's still on the WW, he will def be getting snatched up by someone looking for a bye week replacement. I wish I would have rostered him instead of Eli.

I'm not buying into Stills. Gonna take another week for me to convinced of him.

without looking it up, it seemed like Stills started out on fire then died down. The thing you have to remember this time is that they just got off a bye.... so apparently they have been planning on him being a big part of the O during that period. personally over all the years of playing fantasy football, I have never owned a NO WR.... Brees just seems to makes different stars different weeks, never wanted that frustration. Of course there is Colston but he always got drafted earlier than I would have taken him. I say boom or bust on Stills until further notice

Mike Tolbert- bye week fill-in, DWill left game late not sure of status though

Marvin Jones- let someone else chase his stats...fwiw 8-122 4td's came on ONLY 19 snaps. Hes not an everydown player.

Kenny Stills- really needs a huge play to be of any value, I hate chasing 50+yard td's myself

Tim Wright- add him now if its not too late...MWilliams out for the year, he becomes the no 2 WR on a terrible team always passing 40+ times a game

I have Marvin Jones and started him in one league last week, I am trying to sell high using the AJ Green always double/tripled theory. My current offer is to the Kyle Rudolph, Dez Bryant owner of Julius and Marvin for Dez

So Dalton's on my WW but i have stafford and locker. roster are pretty deep so i can technically afford to roster Dalton as well just to keep him off somebody else's hands, but is it worth the FAAB dollars to do that? i could try to flip him to the brady owner but that might be risky.

Waiver WR Scoop and Play (Week 9 Installment)

Hello and welcome to the new venue. Snatchit has agreed to consolidate all of the waiver threads into a single user friendly thread. Let’s make this a success and get some good chatter going. Just a recap, this post is NOT who I think will perform the best every week. It does NOT predict the hottest Waiver Wire pickups for upcoming weeks. These picks are the cast-offs, the forgotten cigarette butts, and the stray dogs at the humane society… ok, maybe not that poor, but the objective of this thread is to highlight players that have a good matchup to perform well in their respective skill sets, and should be available in most (and sometimes all) leagues.

Kendall Wright WR TEN @ STL

Locker didn’t look too shabby in his return against a stingy 49ers defense, and Wright emerged as his favorite receiver with 9 receptions on 12 targets. In fact, Wright averages 7rec/70yards/.25TDs per game with Locker at the helm this season. Look for that trend to continue with Britt on the bench and Washington being very erratic at times. Enter the Rams’ defense which has struggled against the pass this year. In fact, through week 7 STL has given up 1,217yards and 9TDs to opponent WRs (still yet to play Seattle week 8). Did I mention that Wright leads the team in targets and is 2nd only to TE Walker in red zone targets? There is no reason this man shouldn’t be rostered on your squad down the stretch, yet he is only owned in 26% of yahoo leagues.

Last 3WR2s against STL

LaFell 3rec 38yards

Hopkins 3rec 47yards

Blackmon 5rec 136yards 1TD

Prediction

Wright 6receptions 91yards 1TD

Ted Ginn Jr. WR CARvsATL

Atlanta is in a tailspin, and has been really struggling on the defensive side of the ball in the past few weeks. Last week the Cardinals had 3 plays of over 20 yards made by wide receivers. One of the plays was a 51 yard bomb to converted cornerback Teddy Williams, who would have had a walk in TD if hit in stride. Enter Ted Ginn Jr. who specializes in the big play, and who is getting more targets than LaFell the past two weeks. Is this a trend? Will Ginn Jr. start seeing a larger role in this offense? Only time will tell, but there is no doubt that the Panthers have been trying to find new ways to get Ginn involved as of late. As for this matchup, I have little doubt that the 6'1", sub 4.28-40 Ginn will be able to create some space against the 5'10" Samuel or the 5'9" inch Mcclain this weekend. The Falcons have also been shredded on the ground the past couple of weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few shots taken downfield after a play action pass. Best of all, Ginn Jr. is only owned in 12% of yahoo leagues, so don’t be afraid to scoop and play.

Last 3WR2s against ATL

Floyd 3rec 30 yards 1TD

Williams 3rec 34 yards

Kerley 5rec 68yards 1TD

Prediction

Ginn Jr 4rec 80yards 1TD

Jerome Simpson WR MIN @DAL

The Cowboy’s Pass Defense has been simply awful this year which was easily visible in their 4th quarter meltdown against Det. The Lions demonstrated that, once again, the Cowboys are unable to cover the deep ball, whether it is along the sidelines or right over the middle. Until the cowboys fix their situation at safety they will be gashed for deep gains all year. Carr will likely draw Wallace which leaves the 2nd year Morris Claiborne the task of covering Simpson. Claiborne is synonymous with sporadic play, and he might have trouble guarding the steady 6’2” Simpson who has a 3inch height advantage in this contest. Look for the Vikings to either exploit this matchup or try to get Cordarelle Patterson more involved as I believe that Sean Lee and Brandon Carr will be able to cover Rudolph and Wallace. I shouldn’t have to mention that the cowboys have also been scoring points at a good clip, to the tune of 31 ppg while allowing 22ppg… needless to say the Vikings will have to score some points to keep pace in this one, as their D hasn’t been stopping anyone either. Best of all, Simpson is only owned in 15% of yahoo leagues, so don’t be afraid to scoop and play! (Patterson is owned in only 10% if you have the marbles)

Last 3WR2s against DAL

Durham 4rec 54 yards

Cooper 6rec 88yards

Moss 2rec 42yards

Prediction

Simpson 7rec 99yards 1TD

Rod Streater WR OAK vs PHI

The Eagles Secondary has been torched all season. In fact they rank worst in the entire league in yards AND receptions AND TDs given up to opposing WRs. (1708yards, 139rec and 14TDs respectively). Pryor has matured a lot in the past couple of weeks, and I like his ability to extend the play and get the ball downfield. Enter Streater who has quietly led the team in receptions and targets in the past two weeks and I think it is about time for his break-out game. Denarius Moore should draw Fletcher, leaving either gimpy Cary Williams (hamstring) or the 5’10” Brandon Boykin to cover the 6’3” Streater downfield. Do yourself a favor and roll the dice with Streater this weekend. Best of all, Streater is only owned in 6% of yahoo leagues, so don’t be afraid to scoop and play.

3WR2s

Nicks 7rec 51yards

Williams 6rec 71yards 1TD

Wright 7rec 91yards

Prediction

Streater 5rec 86yards 1TD

Deep League Reach

Dexter McCluster WR KCvsBUF

Don’t look now, but Andy Reid has figured out that Alex Smith can’t get the ball downfield. What has ensued is an expanded role in the offense for McCluster over the past 2 weeks. McCluster has doubled his receptions AND yards in just the last two games. It now appears that he is the 2nd receiving option behind Charles. In fact over the past 2 games McCluster is averaging 7.5 targets and 5.5 receptions add that with the 2 carries per game, and you have a WR that is getting over 7 touches per game. This is good news for McCluster owners with his game breaking speed. Start McCluster with confidence this week as he faces a putrid Bills Defense that is among the leagues’ worst against opposing WRs surrendering 1,650+ yards and 14TDs halfway through the year. Dexter is only owned in 3% of yahoo leagues, so don’t be afraid to scoop and play.

Last 3WR2s vs BUF

Stills 3rec 152yards 2TDs

Gibson 5rec 40yards 2TDs

Jones 3rec 71yards 1TD

Prediction

McCluster 6rec 91total yards 1TD

Davone Bess WR CLEvsBAL

This one is a bit of a stretch, as the ravens aren’t the best matchup, and their offense doesn’t score too many points. However, it can’t be ignored that veteran QB Jason Campbell took over at QB for the unforeseeable future, and locked on to the only veteran WR on the squad during the last 2 drives of the game. Davone Bess probably won’t overtake Gordon, or anything, but could leap over Little and take some targets away from Cameron in the process. In PPR leagues, Bess could be serviceable this week if he and Campbell can build a rapport. Look for Bess to get 5+ receptions as CLE will need to keep drives alive to keep this game close. Bess is only owned in 1% of yahoo leagues.

Prediction

Bess 5rec 66yards 0-1TD

Hard Times Pick

Aldrick Robinson (if hankerson Is unavailable)

The coaching staff said that they were looking for ways to get the speedy Robinson more touches to stretch the D after his 50yard TD grab against the Bears. Yet he had zero catches Sunday against the Broncos. Enter the chargers… and forgive me if I sound like a broken record… who give up pass plays of 20yards or more like it is going out of style. In fact, they are averaging a little over 4 passing plays of 20+yards per game. I may be off here, but look for a few designed deep looks or bubble screens to Robinson this week as they try to stretch the field in order to keep the chargers honest and open up some lanes for Morris. If he is going to have a break out game this season, this is it! Best of all, Robinson is owned in 0% of yahoo leagues… you could be the first!

Prediction

Robinson 2rec. 75 yards 0-1TD

Chargers defense has really clicked the last couple of weeks. Yes I know 1 game was vs Jax, but they have put up good WR stats in every other game. They completely shutdown the Lucks...I know its just a super deep speculation their though Rallo, keep up the good work.

Out ahead of things this week I see.

Great post as always, I'd just like to point something out:

Last few weeks we've seen Boykin, Terrance Williams, Reed all break out.

This week it was Marvin Jones.

Who will be the WW hit next week? Who is a WR/TE you can basically walk in and grab without much challenge right now who will be +40% picked up next week? Needless to say this is also a player you could scoop up and start.

I'm going with Mike Brown, Brazill, Dobson or Tim Wright.

Brown has got the same kind of progression we've seen out of TWill and Marvin Jones, the difference is that he's got Shorts and Blackmon ahead of him, not Austin and Sanu, but in his favor Merc Lewis is out and the Jags are often running 3 WR sets and playing from behind just trying to get some garbage time TDs.

Wright - Mike Williams is out, this reminds me of the Boykin situation.

Brazill - I would try to trade for DHB as an alternative, but if you can't get him don't be surprised if Brazill pops up on the stat line next week.

Dobson - watch what is going on here and it's been going for a few weeks now, he has been on the field, he's getting snaps, Danny A is back and he still did not get looks, they are going to Dobson. To boot Dobson got the end zone look & TD. The only drawback here is that Brady and the Pats are not the passing machine they have been for years, but I do think when Vereen gets back it will be Gronk, Vereen and Dobson leading this offense.

Why is the consensus that T Wright moves to the WR spot or am I reading it wrong and he now becomes the 2nd option.

Don't think he'll move to WR just because Williams is out

I'm not chasing Marvin...agree with the above post of only 19 snaps...if anything this may open AJ up a little more because now teams will see they just can't ignore the other side of the field.

I have the #1 WW and am leaning towards T Wright

I don't think Wright is moving to WR, but I do think his targets and snaps will be increased. (Note Wright could be sent out wide or play in the slot, but he will still be a TE). I am thinking of something like the Finley situation when Cobb got hurt (and of course before Finely got hurt).

Wright is a perfect 'move' TE similar to many in the NFL today. Jermichael Finley and Vernon Davis are only two that come to mind that are frequently split wide or play a slot WR role., They are athletic enough to be used as a traditional TE, operate from the slot, or spread out wide upon occasion. The Bucs should play him from everywhere. He is a TE in name only because of his versatility. In fact, Yahoo has him listed as a WR/TE, similar to Colston when he was a rookie.

Wright isnt moving to WR, so that might have been misleading. When Mike Williams was out though he played a lot of no 2 WR, still as a TE, and notice his 7-91 line

Rallo, I'm hoping I'm not alone on this, BUT, can you do the board a favor and keep starting your own weekly thread? Your "Waiver WR Scoop and Play" threads have been one the best weekly threads this board has to offer and it's already lost some of it's luster mixed in with this thread. I for one, appreciate the effort you put into your WR thread.

Snatchit, I read the other thread started by MFM, maybe you can limit your weekly thread to RB's and give it a fancy name like "WW RB's That Should Be Rostered" or whatever.

This way, those of us that are looking for WR's can look at Rallo's thread. Those of us looking for RB's can look at Snatchit's thread.

Maybe a separate QB thread is necessary as well. There's already a weekly D/ST thread for streamers. Kickers??....never mind.

I see where MFM was coming from with his suggestion, but this current thread is heading right towards 5 pages of mumbo jumbo.

Just my opinion fellas.

In addition to some names mentioned above, here's some players (by position) that are out there in some of my leagues that should be considered as at least injury/ bye week fillers:

QB: Jason Campbell, Glennon, Palmer and Alex Smith will all be on most waiver wires should you need a bye week filler. Is anyone ready to take a chance on picking up (again) Nick Foles? I'm pretty sure he will clear concussion protocol this week, and equally convinced we won't (at least we should not) see Vick. This time I think he'll be out for an extended period until his hammy is completely healed.

RB: Pretty bleak at RB this week - Tolbert, if he is still available tops the list, perhaps Bolden might still be available somewhere. Donald Brown is coming off his bye, and is the sneaky pick-up of the week because your league might forget about him since he had no stats. Dig deeper and you have Fozzy Whittaker for deep rostered leagues - primarily dynasty leagues with scoring for return yardage - and that is about it. Jonathan Stewart is a consideration if he is still there and you like to speculate. Unless your whole league was in slumberland, Andre Brown and Shane Vereen were either continuously rostered or are long gone.

WR: This still is a position of promise. I always look for high octane passing offenses when deciding who to bid on. I've been high on Kenny Stills for some time, and Lance Moore is baaaack. Brees puts enough balls in the air to make everyone relevant, at least as a flex. Kris Durham in Detroit also fits that mold.
Marvin Jones has been a personal favorite of mine since his Senior Bowl showing. I think he's cemented himself as the legitimate downfield threat opposite AJ Green, and he appears to finally have the confidence of Dalton and the coaching staff. Three TD performances tend to have that effect.
Others to consider are Steven Hill (especially if available in non-PPR) and his PPR counterpart, J Kerley. Woods is legit in Buffalo if he can get consistent targets.
For deeper leagues, Mike Brown, Goodwin and Cole Beasley are worth rostering.

TE: The hot pick-up of the week, as mentioned by damn near all of you is Tim Wright, and Wrightfully so. For those who lost Finley last week or are skeptical that Julius Thomas will be ready after his bye week, there's Jeff Cumberland. Cumberland sustained a concussion this weekend, and may or may not clear the concussion protocol in time to help you this week.

I'll add a few more thoughts after a more in-depth examination of this week's options. I'll also share with you my winning waiver bids and the more outlandishly high bids that went at blind bid auction either late Wednesday night or on Thursday.

...

One other point, the successful scoop and play this week is often the hot waiver wire pickup for the very next week or week after. The difference is this week you can get `em and next week you're fighting the whole league for `em.

Let's talk QBs.

Jason Campbell really surprised me. Lombardi might be on to something. Look at what Hoyer did when he was in there, what if the Browns have just been stifling themselves on the RB and QB position the last few years and everything else has possibilities? Don't look now but the brownies actually have a shot at the playoffs.

KC is a great defense, and Campbell hung in there, played like a vet, played smart and most importantly like Hoyer he repeatedly found 1. Cameron and 2. Gordon. Do that over and over again and you can have formula for success.

Also consider McCown. - He is throwing to Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, and Forte, and that is a terrific offensive system that allows players to do well and which also does not require a great QB to operate in. I do not know how Cutler will be out but a groin injury can be a major problem.

Glennon - lots of garbage points, constantly behind, a defense that has given up, his primary RB out, and again he has shown he can laser in on Vjax all day.

I have gone down the road with Foles. I'd be surprised he comes back this week, but who really knows. But we also know that he may not be mobile enough to keep from getting knocked out again not long after he gets back in. I'd avoid.

Palmer, totally matchup dependent, a QBBC guy. ATL was a good matchup but look at the schedule carefully.

Alex Smith - he's hardly thrown for any TDs this year, the Denver games might turn into some scoring opportunities for him but I think even those games they will try to win with Charles and the defense. So, no.

I think a thread on QBBC opportunities to try to salvage a season at QB might be interesting.

Indeed... see terrance Williams, harry douglas, mike brown, keenan Allen, Jarrett boykin etc.... it also makes the thread a lot harder to produce in later weeks

I'll do what ever and I understand the scoop and play WR is great.... I just think a lot of people could be shopping for more than one position at a time. I may have mentioned this before but our WW is really thin at QB and I was looking for a back up for Romo in week 11. I ran across Glennon playing the Falcons again and snagged him. He played great against them a few weeks ago.

I am one of those guys shopping for a qb... vick, foles, and henne on the team as of right now... 14 man league which is EXTREMELY thin at qb... wondering what I should do this week as i'm currently in 7th place (6 make the playoffs)

If he's available in your league, Zac Stacy goes to the head of the class at RB this week.

EDIT: After his Monday night break-out game, this is one to monitor. Per rotoworld: FOX Sports reports Zac Stacy is headed for X-rays on his left ankle following the Rams' 14-9 loss to the Seahawks on Monday night.

Coach Jeff Fisher confirmed Stacy injured his ankle on the final drive, one in which he was gashing the Seahawks on the ground. He was wincing in noticeable pain on the sideline. The ESPN cameras later caught him with a decent amount of athletic tape on his left ankle as he was gingerly walking around. Stacy entered the game on the final play but was motioned out wide left and wasn't really a part of the action. It would be a blow for both Stacy and the Rams if he's dealing with a high-ankle sprain or any other long-term issue.

There also may be leagues where Golden Tate was dropped to the waiver wire; mine were not one of them. In fact I lost my weekend match in one league by 11 points, with the difference being the two TDs that Tate put up for the owner who played him against me. :(

And you're making it worse chiming in to feed the trolls uncle misery. Why not pitch in to offer some insight?

EDIT:

Any thoughts on who picks up targets if Julius Thomas isn't healed after the bye?

D Richardson is now one to monitor. Listed as only owned in 32% of the leagues. Looks like he would be the main back if Stacy is out. And St Louis plays Tenn at home, a pretty good matchup.

Nice call. Stacy hurt that ankle on the last drive - any word yet on the severity of the injury?

I'd expect welker + black & decker to see the bump. Seems like TE would be split between Tamme and Dressen. I'd avoid those two unless you're in a really deep league. Pick up a Wright or Cumberland instead

I don't get the talk that if you pickup Marvin Jones you are just chasing stats.

Nobody picking him up is expecting anything close to the 4 TDs.

But his past 3 weeks of production now?

3-71-1TD against Buf

4-57-1TD against Det

then

8-122-4TDs against the jets.

This is not some one week wonder people are picking up.

There is obvious risk of what he did against NE, Pitt, or Chicago...but he has put together 4 solid games out of the 7. At this point in a season with what is out there and bye weeks...not exactly a terrible track record to go after.
